  1. Figured I'd relaunch our videogame discussion topic with the news that I've finally platinum'd Gundam Extreme Vs. Is anyone else still playing? There's some epic hilarity to be had playing through ranked online. Also, I'm not sure how much longer it'll be up (may expire at midnight), but Motorstorm RC for the Vita is/was a free full game download today.
  2. Welcome to the MW thread for the under-appreciated SQUARE franchise of Front Mission. Personally, my first exposure to FM was FM 3 for the PS1. I was totally hooked on that game; the appeal of piloting a squad of fully customizable mechs in a world where such vehicles had actually succeeded in being an integral part of a modern battlefield added to an ungodly amount of hours to be spent on one videogame. After FM3, I went to play FM1, FM Gun Hazard, FM4 for the PS2, FM5, and just recently FM2. I would be remiss to not mention the small group of super-fans whose work allowed me to actually play these games in English. A thorough tour of their website will reveal exactly why FM did not get the attention it should have, not to mention the full reach of multimedia that the West did not get to enjoy. Regardless, I made this thread to gather fellow wanzer-heads, and to celebrate the acquisition of this bad boy, a hardly seen 1/35 scale resin kit of the venerable Zenith wanzer as depicted in FM2: This looks to be quite a build, so if anyone else has built this thing, I welcome your insight. In addition to FM2, I have also been enjoying the FM Dog Life & Dog Style manga. It seems to be a collection of vignettes that take place during the events of FM1. Its a great read, but it certainly deals with a lot more mature themes that none of the games have touched.
  3. Hello everyone, My name is burntends and I currently am in the middle of creating a translation patch of Macross DYRL for the Playstation 1. With a cast of over 20 voice actors, this will be a full on English dub of the game making the core of the story fully understandable for non-japanese speakers. This even includes original english covers of the songs featured in the game (with an optional version that retains the japanese performances). Funny enough, we have so many of the songs written down that we also plan on dubbing The entirety of Flashback 2012. Linked below are a few of the in-game cutscenes I'd like to share with everyone. That said, there's still a few things I'd love help on. My team does not currently have the technical skill to alter the in-game text or subtitles (which was why I opted to do an English Dub.) While the game will be fully playable, some menus will remain untranslated. If anyone here is interested in helping out on the programming side of things, please feel free to reach out to me here or on my twitter @burntends2. I would love to garnish this proverbial meal with some extra decoration. Additionally, this game originally released on the SEGA Saturn. If anyone is interested in working on porting my work over to that, again feel free to reach out. This is my first post here so please let me know if there's anything I need to do differently to post here. cue 25.mp4 cue 12.mp4
  4. Starting a threat for discussion revolving around HBO's adaptation of The Last of Us. Please clearly mark all game spoilers as such. All other spoilers will be considered series-specific.
  5. Hey everyone, I am not really sure if this fits in here, but the "off-topic" area should be good as this probably works under Science Fiction. Yesterday the trailer for the newest installment of Call of Duty was released. Except for the first Black Ops, Call of Duty was mostly a let down for me since Modern Warefare. Somehow this trailer made me interested again. Spoilers ahead if you didn't watch the trailer yet: I think I am going to try this one. Not on day one, but when it is on a Steam Sale or something else. What are your thoughts? PS: I know CoD is always something people start to argue about, so please be nice to each other.
  6. My Mecha goodness...there is a renewal leynos kit coming out. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10372031a7/20/7 Throw in a camo paintjob or mod it...yums!
  7. Anyone else checked out the big press announcement for the Playstation 4? There's actually a lot of good information in the announcement. Here's a breakdown of what was covered in the 2 hour presentation: http://www.giantbomb.com/articles/the-playstation-4-exists/1100-4583/ The big rumor going around now seems to be that "The Last Guardian" (the next game from the creators of "Ico" and "Shadow of the Colossus") is being delayed so it can be released on the PS4 instead of the PS3. Thoughts? Praise? Complaints?
  8. Looks like fun, especially if you are into SF or big-ass space ships :-)
  9. Looking pretty sweet! http://gematsu.com/2014/01/first-look-mobile-suit-gundam-side-story-missing-link
  10. can anyone recommend any gundam related games? Online is preferred
  11. If you believe I'm going to be unbiased thank you. Now stop living in dream world. The Review: Okay I don't think that much of Robotech. I'm sure some of you know that already but what you don't know is that back in 1986 my friends in the 5th grade and I road our bikes around pretending they were cyclones. How lame was that! Back in the 80's that was my favorite saga of Robotech. Even though I consider myself a pure Macross fan I still have a little soft spot in my cold blacken heart for cyclones blasting Invids. I first saw this game a couple of months ago but I had other games that I want to play first. When I saw this game I laughed. Flash forward to Xmas. I have the holiday off and I decided to rent a game. You didn't think I would buy this game now did you? Since I played all the other games I wanted I decided to finally rent this one. Battle Cry sucked but that was a first attempt. This one would have to be better. Note the games I played before renting this one were Samurai Warriors Extreme Legends, MSG Snake Eater and Ace Combat 5. Yes those games were better but that doesn't mean Invasion was bad. Using a cyclone to blast invid it's a great idea and fun at time yet the game seemed like a half effort. You know when a new system comes out the first games for it are sorta so so and as years go by the games get better and better that make the earlier games weak in comparsion? Invasion is like one of those earlier games. If I played it a few years ago I would have like it more. Now the problems. First you can't drive a cyclone in motorcyle indoors. Go take ahead the fun away. Second you can't kill allies, sometimes I just want to shoot friends. The music is something else. Artero(?) pilots a girl's cyclone does that mean he goes both ways? I can't drive a cyclone through a tent. Every one seem to have the same face to me. How come Locke has to fights the latin woman? I think an orgy with them would have been better. Who agree with me? Sad no one got any "action." The voices. Can we talk about the voices? Yep a lot of Robotech VO are in the game. Fine with me. It's a nice odd but that Sam character. That voice was just errrgghhhhhh. My biggest complaint has to be the way the story was presented. Where's the CGI mini animated intro movies and cut scenes that we've come to expect from current games? This one had some but animation quality was the same as the game play. Don't these tend to be of better quality? Then there's those flash blacks (with great dialog btw ) those would have been perfect spots to throw in a movie but I'd you get blury vision and hear some bad screaming. A lot of the story was told through others screaming dialog during battle. If it wasn't for my earlier knowledge of Robotech I wouldn't understand what the hell was going on. I swear half the time I time didn't and still don't. Overall: This game was better than Battle Cry but was just an okay experience. Had the story been presented better I would have thought much better about this game.
