  4. From Guntoa : Approaching 30 years... It 's not much, but still worth mentioning. In the recent Nikkei Characters! issue, Yasuo Miyakawa, a Sunrise board member, commented, "UC fans are probably looking forward to a new series. We can't promise when (it will be released), but we promise to deliver one. Please look forward to it. " Never the less, add one more person from Bandai/Sunrise promising a new UC series. In a separate note, Harutoshi Fukui's next work will be on Gundam after his recent release of "Operation ROSEDUST" novel this month.
  5. Since Chogokin has it's own dedicated thread, I thought I'd start one for Robot Spirits figures so we don't have dozens of related threads scattered all over the forums. Here, we can discuss our Robot Spirits collections, upcoming releases, and anything else pertaining to this awesome line of mecha figures. I started my RT (Robot Tamashii, not to be confused with Robotech) love affair with the Full Metal Panic figures, and have been extremely impressed with each and every one of them. I have all of the FMP mecha, including two next-to-impossible-to-find Savages. I just received the web-exclusive MITHRIL Emergency Booster set in the mail today and was surprised at how much it's launch catapult resembles some of the MSG Mechanical Chain Base sets. The booster itself is a nice one-size-fits-all design for all versions of the M9 and the ARX-7. In launch mode, the catapult footpads raise up between 45 and 50 degrees, resembling "starting blocks" that track runners use. Overall, it's an awesome accessory for the Side AS figures...which makes me even more excited for the Gray/White Arbalest and Weapon Set in November. I know some people hate the way Bandai releases add-ons like this as aftermarket sets, but I like being able to expand on the figures I already have in my collection. (Photos coming soon) I haven't ventured beyond the FMP series with these figures, but as time goes on, and Bandai adds new series to its lineup, I'm sure I'll branch out...

  8. Hi everyone. I just wanted to start a proper thread for this. I put up adapters for Gundam stands that can hold up Yamato valks. Here's some images that CoreyD posted on http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=37622'>his thread. Heres' the link for them: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/exodigital'>http://www.shapeways...hops/exodigital And here's the HLJ link to the stands: http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljlist?Word=gundam+stands&DisplayMode=images&Dis=2&Sort=std&qid=IHYE32P2QUVS4Q&set=1&q=1&MacroType2=displaybse'>http://www.hlj.com/s...ype2=displaybse It's an inexpensive solution for your display needs. Thanks! I've uploaded the adapters that removes the need for the hinge. It makes for a more sturdier stand and can actually hold a 1/48 with Fast Packs. I had to create ones with angles that bank because removing the hinge means less pose-ability There should be enough variety to suit your needs. I've also renamed the product so the number of different ones won't be confusing. B2Y - Bandai to Yamato B2Y classic - the original ones that people have been purchasing that goes on the hinged part of the stand. Allows more pose-ability but won't hold heavier valks B2Y unhinged - comes in three varieties: level, Starboard (banking) and Port (banking) I've also bundled them up in different sorts for price breaks.
  9. Looks like another gundam anime is on the way, based on the thunderbolt series! via gundamguy... Story Synopsis: Universal Century 0079. Federation troops and Zeon forces carry out a fierce battle in the "Thunderbolt Sector" in what was once Side 4 "Mua". The "Thunderbolt Sector" is a shoal zone composed of the debris of destroyed space colonies, named for the electrical discharges from the metal debris. MS pilot Io Flemming is among the Federation soldiers who are dispatched to the area, where Zeon sniper Daryl Lorenz awaits them on the battlefield. http://gundam-tb.net/
  10. Bandai just updated the mysteriously blank www.gundam-bf.net and we have been given an interesting promo and told to expect the full reveal on July 2. There was also a blurb on Gundam.info. Google Translate sucks. It sounds like an anime but why the model scale designator 1/144? I guess we'll find out.
  11. Since the mods refuse to update the title of the existing Gundam Show Thread, it's time that Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (機動戦士ガンダム 鉄血のオルフェンズ) had its own thread. Here, we'll cover the TV series, Gunpla, and other related merchandise. The episodes are available on YouTube every Sunday night at 17:30 Japan time (except in the U.S. and a few other territories); the series is also available via Daisuki.net, Crunchyroll, and Funimation online. For starters, here's the story so far. Episode 1: "Iron and Blood" (鉄と血と) Episode 2: "Barbatos" (バルバトス) Episode 3: "Glorious Demise" (散華) Episode 4: "The Price of Life" (命の値段) Episode 5: "Beyond the Red Sky" (赤い空の向こう) Official Site by Sunrise Official Site by MBS
  12. Anyone... Reading some information, very limited right now, on the new Gundam Unicorn 0096. So far it is a novel base anime with the anime series in the works or in the process of being made. Bought the latest Hobby Japan magazine and it has some great stuff on this new Gundam series. Remind me of the Gundam Char's Counterattack, which I was told the new 0096 is base on the story of war after the Char's Counterattack? Anyone has any information, please share with the rest of us. Cheers

  15. Gundam Live Action Movie In The Works? "Gundam" live action movie in works? It seems so! As the Legacy Effects, the visual effects team behind movies such as "Pacific Rim" "Real Steel" "Iron Man" "The Avengers" "Avatar" and most recently "X-Men: Days of Future Past" has partnered with "Gundam" creator Yoshiyuki Tomino to make Hollywood movies based on Japanese manga and anime! According to sankakucomplex.com, "Gundam" creator Yoshiyuki Tomino will hold a press conference on January 21 to announce his partnership with Legacy Effects to "bring Hollywood movies based on Japanese anime and manga titles to a global audience". One of these titles is said to be "Gundam" though it is not sure what part of the huge "Gundam" series Legacy Effects and Yoshiyuki Tomino will make a Hollywood adaptation off. Fans of the anime are weary though due to fact that Hollywood has made adaptations of Japanese made video games/anime/manga and the results were not impressive, pointing to bombs such as "Dragonball Evolution", the live action "Tekken" and "King of Fighters" movies. However some fans are quick to note that Yoshiyuki Tomino is part of the creative process and some of story that made "Gundam" popular will still be intact. They even praised that with the help of the big budget and the superior visual effects that Hollywood can provide means that the "Gundam" movie may very well be of quality. For those who don't know the "Gundam" series is one of the biggest-if not the biggest-mecha manga/anime series in Japan. The "Gundam" franchise earned over 5 billion yen in revenue based on the sales of the toys, manga, tv shows and movies. This is not the first time a "Gundam" live action movie was made. A "Gundam" live action movie called "G-Savior" was released in 2000. It got bad reviews as it scored a 4.3 on the website IMDB. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/131360-Gundam-Creator-Tomino-Teams-With-Hollywoods-Legacy-Effects http://collider.com/gundam-movie-adaptation/
  16. Just out of curiosity, what are the best forums for Gundam modeling? I know of Gundam Eclipse and Hobbyfanatics, but that's about it and I'd like to broaden my Gundam horizons. Thanks in advance!
  17. Any collectors here of this deluxe diecast gundams? As a Macross fan or chogokin lover whats your opinion of this toy line? Im planning to get this bad boy but first Im trying to find a comparison pics of it next to a Macross DX Chogokin which I think will look good next to it (even though their scale would be way off) but I cant seem to find any.
  18. So, I was listening to the latest episode of Gundamn@mahq recently and came across some interesting, if depressing news. Apparently preorder numbers for the new English version of Gundam the Origin have barely passed 4000 units. In other words, without support, the future of this new, re-translated, deluxe edition is in jeopardy before volume 1 has even been released. It's one of only a handful of mecha manga that actually does mecha right imo (Macross the First being another one), so if you have even a passing interest in Gundam or mecha, volumes 1 and 2 are only $18 each for preorder over at Amazon. Even though I have the Japanese versions, I know Ill be picking these up if only to support it. Volume 1 preorder. Volume 2 preorder.
  19. Because I have seen every entry in the Gundam franchise outside of half of SD Gundam Scramble, SD Gundam Festival, and the compilation movies for Turn A and 00, I figured this was inevitable. Like how Banshee went through ZZ Gundam I will trek through this complete with episode commentary, screen shots, very bad in-jokes, and me grieving over being banned from MAHQ. I don't think I'll ever get over it, but we'll get back to that later, on to the first episode! So anybody else watch this at some point? I know it was once on Toonami.
  20. Because I'm going to start reviewing Gundam for my Podcast, I figured I'd need to brush up on all the ones I've missed out. Currently the only show I've never really seen a lick of is ZZ Gundam. I'm not looking forward to this but it ain't worse than AGE or Destiny, I'm sure, and I have Macross to dull the pain. I skipped episode 1 because it's just a glorified clip show, so we move straight into episode 2. This episode is actually fairly good what with setting up Judau and the Junkyard Kids and the return of Yazan and the death of poor Saegusa. There's the strange sort of passing-of-the-torch moment between Judau and Kamille and the Endra shows up... and then nothing. No, I'm being totally serious here. I'm really trying not to let previous info and biases color things here but I honestly think that episodes 3-6 are just plain boring. Not terrible or insulting, just boring. Monster-of-the-week only works for G Gundam you know. And First Gundam. As for Mashymre... Scirroco would eat this guy for breakfast. Bask Om would rip off his arms and beat Mashymre to death with the wet ends. And I can't see him surviving in the original Zeon military.... except maybe under M'Quve. Man, is this what happened to all the Zeon soldiers who were bumming around Axis? And what can I say about Gemon the Trash-Man? I can't decide if he's a worse character than some of the morons we ran into in AGE. He probably is; at least the AGE characters attempted some competence and weren't as dumb as this guy. If I was Mashymre, I would have been like, "Ok, why don't you just take your weird MS and go fight the Zeta by yourself? Your suit is obviously strong enough to take on the Zeta single-handed!" (Insert your own sarcasm here) Also, am I a terrible person for wanting to toss Shinta and Qum out the nearest airlock? All in all, not terribly impressed so far. By episode 6 of most of the rest of the Gundam shows and OVAs, a whole ton of stuff had already happened and ZZ is just kinda plodding along. How about that Neo Zeon War? When do we get that? There are some positives. I think I'm going to enjoy Judau as a protagonist. He's not annoying like MSG Amuro or angsty like Kamille. He's just a simple Newtype trying to make his way in the Universe, man! The rest of his friends are OK, especially fiesty Elle, but I can already tell I'm not going to like Beecha and Mondo. Imma toss them out the airlock too, ok? The music from Zeta is back and that's always a big plus although I wish they'd been able to spin out a few new tracks for ZZ and change things up a little. Alrighty then, on to episodes 7-11!
  21. So. Here we are about three weeks away from Destiny being back on the air. This is actually good for me because back in 2005, I was young and stupid and ignorant and I rage-quit the show. Now, thanks to the training of Lord Darth Neo and General Hate, I know how to have fun with my rage. Actually I'll probably just groan a lot. At least it'll be something to tide us over until Final Unicorn and the next Gundam show. Maybe even the next Macross show. Also, I'm going to refer to the Remaster as "Destiny (Not The Game From Bungie.)" Huzzah.
