  1. I thought that Since we seemed to lack a general Mecha discussion thread, I'd start one. Questions, Comments, Debates, whatever could go here. It would be really fantastic if this could get pinned, but I'll let the mods decide. Or they could decide that I'm just asinine and delete this thread. I hope not... So to kick it off I'll toss a Question out there: What is the best Variable fighter in Macross? I say the VF-11. It looks cool, Probably has the longest service life of any VF in universe and has been flown by more hero characters than any other (I think, I know that M&M flew the prototype, and also first run production models probably, Isamu, Kinryu, Ray Lovelock, Gamlin, and Mylene all flew variants of the VF-11). What say you?
  2. New thread! Keep it going. Watched the 6th movie for Break Blade. This show is too epic. I'm just abit annoyed that And the Riobot Delphine looks pretty impressive. http://www.gundammodelkits.com/riobot-delphine-third-form-review-by-gamu-toys.html
  3. VOTOMS

scopedog I'm thinking about buying one of these, Does anybody have one who could tell me about it? I don't really know much about Votoms, But I think the mecha are awesome. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I didn't know if I could post a Takara toy in they toy forums. I figured it'd be ok because I want to know about the series too. I saw the opening theme for the show on youtube, and thought it was great. Coments on the series? Anything you want to tell me? I searched for old threads most looked pretty short or old.
  4. Welcome to the Macross Delta Mecha/Technology Thread Guildlines Please limit your discussion of mecha and technology to this thread. This thread is not for discussing individual episodes or the story. Do not cross post. Please limit your discussion to mecha and technology seen in Macross Delta. 5. I thought it would be nice if there's a dedicated thread for this toy line.. I knew a couple of forumers here whose into collecting anime figures.. especially large female figures.. if you have them, then post it here.. I'm also aware that some members kinda find 'collecting sexy anime figs' kinda weird.. but i hope we all respect each collectors preferences.. anyway... to start this thread, here's one of my all time favorite figure: Max Factory 1/7 Kureha (Shining Wind)

  7. I've been perusing Tenjin Hidetaka's Instagram account, I like the cats to know if you guys have also been following other similar artists/mechanical designers and who are you following? I never cared about artists/designers in anime etc before but now seems like a good time-waster idea to stalk get updates on what they're up to. Twitter Ben Mauro - Concept Designer and Art Director lately worked on the Valerian movie. Bill Sienkiewicz - worked mainly with DC and Marvel Chris Samnee - I see mostly Marvel stuff, not really much art but has a Patreon for his doodles Demizu Posuka - Posuka Demizu (出水 ぽすか, Demizu Posuka), is a Japanese manga artist known for doing art for Kirugumi and Yakusoku no Neverland. Feng Zhu - Veteran designer who has his own school in Singapore. Greg Capullo - Posts his pencil sketches, best known for Quasar (1991–1992), X-Force (1992–1993), Angela (1994), Spawn (1993–2000, 2003–2004) and Batman (2011–2016). IZMOJUKI / Junji Okubo - artist/mechanical designer. Author of Industrial Divinities. Jason Fabok - Comic book artist working for DC Comics on Justice League. Jim Lee - started in 1987 as an artist for Marvel Comics, illustrating titles such as Alpha Flight and The Punisher War Journal, before gaining popularity on The Uncanny X-Men. Lee Weeks - known for his Daredevil works (accdg to Wikipedia) Mateusz Urbanowicz - Polish artist living in Japan, lately worked on backgrounds for the movie Your Name Peter Krause - worked on Daredevil but there's lots of non-art posts (politics etc) Sean Gordon Murphy - Batman artist and writer sparth/Nicolas Bouvier - Halo Art Director, Microsoft-343. Author of the Structura art books. Tenjin Hidetaka - If you're in a Macross forum you should know this guy by now. Haha Thomas Romain - French mecha designer who works at Satelight Walter Simonson - Thor art galore! Yannick Paquette - X-men, Wolverine, Batman, Swamp Thing, Wonder Woman Earth one and lots more Instagram Craig Drake - draws pop characters, has several Motoko Kusanagi art and other nerdy goodness J Scott Campbell - draws for Marvel/Disney Stanley Lau - draws pop characters, with some personal stuff mixed in Blog/Website 萌 え お ぼ - I don't know how that name is read, and the blog is NSFW. Features Misa x Hikaru Barry Windsor-Smith - drew for Marvel etc. I don't think he's that active in comics anymore
  8. I'm baaaaack! And this time I plan to reissue the King Crab (Gosu doppleganger) kit, with your help. This is the biggest and most elaborate of all the Inbit kits in my line, a true King Crab! Just as with the original, it will have a translucent eye and canopy part as well as a detailed cockpit ready to accept aftermarket pilot figues (not included this time). Just like the Pinky, the kit is free-pose. Price would be $300 CAD (about $233 US)+ shipping with up-front payment required and I'd need a minimum of 10 orders to get the ball rolling on the project. Shipping prices are as follows: -$26 CAD per kit shipped in Canada or the US -$48 CAD per kit shipped internationally. Any takers?
  9. Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01

How on earth does MW not have a thread for this show? Well at least I couldn't find it. If I'm wrong, mods please kindly correct my mistake. This show was one of the titles AnimEigo brought over during the late 80's that helped solidify the notion that mecha is cool. Truth be told, I've forgotten a lot regarding this show ever since our VCR turned to junk many years ago and I really should track a DVD down. BUT what do I remember is that bad ass hand drawn masterpiece that was its introduction, which made a younger version of myself believe the Madox-01 can actually be made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=N7T-6ThKoJ0 The Madox is one of Shinji Aramaki's classic designs, and merchandising for the show is next to nil. Back then finding models of the Madox was an ordeal, and even more so now. As far as I know, only garage kits have been made sporadically available and recasts are just as hard to find. Anyways, classic mecha design doesn't die. It just gets remembered later on by some dude in his 30's who detonated a nostalgia bomb while digging out his nerd stash in the garage when he should've have been out mowing the lawn on hot ass Saturday afternoon. I digress, check out this fanbuilt Madox with some impressive rendering: 1/35 scale Madox
  10. There's enough interest from some in this site on the ongoing Monogatari series for it to have it's own thread and thereby keep it from monopolizing other threads. Let's keep it all here, TV series, films, novels and those fine looking 1/8 Senjougahara PVC figures too.
  11. A true anime classic by Gainax will come out in BD in october. Although the Bandai and Madman DVD releases are excellent, the temptation to get this one in BD quality will be strong. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-06-27/maiden-japan-to-release-royal-space-force-film-on-dvd/bd-in-october
  12. Esta temporada estoy siguiendo Made in Abyss y Fate/Apocrypha. ¿Y ustedes?
  13. I'm kinda sad that Southern Cross is not much loved by anyone from both sides of the Pacific ocean. Anyone has any idea if this TV series is a big flop in Japan when it was originally released? I mean, we know Macross is huge, even before the Macross Plus revival, with tonnes of toys made for it, and Mospeada is currently enjoying a nice revival in the toys re-release. But I am doubtful if I remember seeing toys in Japan for Southern Cross in the original 80s release, and even more doubtful if any toys will be re-released in the near future. I hope anyone can provide info if this series is really a flop back then, and why so. Many thanks. p.s. I don't mean Jeanne released as Dana Sterling on a vacuum cleaner in the 'Robotech' toyline in USA. I mean Jeanne released as Jeanne in Japan. And I don't remember seeing any Bioroid released either. Correct me please if I'm wrong. Thanks. p.p.s. What I really really want to find is the song CD of the show. They're hauntingly beautiful (the ending song, and the Zor song of the flower legend. And not to sound blasphemous on a Macross forum, but imo, I think they're even more beautiful than the Macross songs) nb: Found this in wiki: The three titles share some of the same creators, and Macross is referenced by character cameos and inside references by the latter two series. However, the basic stories are unrelated. Southern Cross was the least successful of the Super Dimensional banner and was actually cancelled due to low ratings, forcing the scriptwriters to hastily conclude the series. No wonder the last episode always felt rushed, trying to tie all the loose ends in the last episode #23. sigh...
  14. It's with sadness that I read that Noboru Ishiguro's old studio, Artland has closed down. Over the years it delivered some real quality shows like Musishi, Legend of Galactic Heroes, Megazone 23 and it was one of the studio's that helped out Nue to make our very own Macross. Some big time names like Haruhiko Mikimoto and Hideaki Anno did some of their early work at Artland. A real shame, but then again, animation studios unfortunately get a very small slice of the pie moneywise in the anime industry.
  15. This is what's been keeping me busy. Sucker is going to be huge! Almost 20" diameter.
  16. Crusher Joe

Who liked Crusher Joe? Some mecha designs were by Shoji Kawamori who did beautiful work on Macross, as we all know. Some elements of his design evolution can clearly be seen in in Pinnace Fighter. Although a couple of models of this bird have been available in 144 & 100 scale, I didn't like them... they seemed to squat or not detailed enough for me. So I decided to build my own. Model is under construction, WIP below: http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/PetarB/Pinnace/ Where I'm at:
