  1. Welcome to the MW thread for the under-appreciated SQUARE franchise of Front Mission. Personally, my first exposure to FM was FM 3 for the PS1. I was totally hooked on that game; the appeal of piloting a squad of fully customizable mechs in a world where such vehicles had actually succeeded in being an integral part of a modern battlefield added to an ungodly amount of hours to be spent on one videogame. After FM3, I went to play FM1, FM Gun Hazard, FM4 for the PS2, FM5, and just recently FM2. I would be remiss to not mention the small group of super-fans whose work allowed me to actually play these games in English. A thorough tour of their website will reveal exactly why FM did not get the attention it should have, not to mention the full reach of multimedia that the West did not get to enjoy. Regardless, I made this thread to gather fellow wanzer-heads, and to celebrate the acquisition of this bad boy, a hardly seen 1/35 scale resin kit of the venerable Zenith wanzer as depicted in FM2: This looks to be quite a build, so if anyone else has built this thing, I welcome your insight. In addition to FM2, I have also been enjoying the FM Dog Life & Dog Style manga. It seems to be a collection of vignettes that take place during the events of FM1. Its a great read, but it certainly deals with a lot more mature themes that none of the games have touched.
  2. Finally got around to getting one of these. Can't wait to check it out.
  3. I just found this amazing Imperator Class Star Destroyer model built by a Korean Star Wars fan. In addition to the amazing build and incredible paint job, it features what has to be the most amazing model lighting I've ever seen for the Star Wars Star Destroyer, right down to orange area lighting and blue-white hangar bay illumination. The placard even has Engrish! http://blog.naver.com/PostView.nhn?blogId=no1jujil&logNo=130177875505&redirect=Dlog Astounding work worth looking at.
  4. Anyone planning to get these? Info: http://startrek-starships.com/usa/index.asp I have the first three issues and ships on the way. I've seen photos on the web of the finished goods and they look very nice and detailed! (especially the -D). They plan on releasing lots of ships. Hope we get a Steamrunner someday .
  5. From the album: Personal Macross Kits

Gerwalk it I recently bought very cheaply from the generous owner of Cosmic Connection, from some of the leftovers from his 1980s mail order company. This is "The Last Gerwalk At Cosmic Connection"...
  6. Just out of curiosity, what are the best forums for Gundam modeling? I know of Gundam Eclipse and Hobbyfanatics, but that's about it and I'd like to broaden my Gundam horizons. Thanks in advance!
  7. Hey gang: I know many of you guys are familiar with Ma.K kits and some of the great painters who build them. I learned much more about them more recently and was blown away by how awesome some of the kits are, plus how talented many of the painters are. Many of the hardware and metal painting techniques of course are applicable not just to Ma.K, but to any vehicle model and of course figures and bases that have parts conveying metal. The following link provides a nice summary on Ma.K kits with some great pictures: http://jerseyfestfair.com/?page_id=2787
  8. Hello MW! Hopefully nobody minds if I just start up this thread to capture my progress as I delve into the scifi genre a little more and give my newly acquired Macross models some love. I started the Hasegawa Spacewolf model in 1/72 back on the 'What lying on your workbench...' thread and figured I would give it a home of it's own. The Hasegawa kit, for those interested, practically falls together. It was a headache free, simple build that would see little weathering or preshading as I intended to display it in a cross over scheme as a Macross realm prototype. Purists may hate it, and Harlock fans may shake their fists... but I just had to do it. I mean, come on! - the decal sheet sports skull squadron markings! Here's some pics of my build so far. I meant to keep this build light and easy, but I still needed to resolve how to arm it with a large calibre gatling gun as promised in the other thread. I resorted to casting the barrel end of the riptide kit from Games Workshop/Citadel and it fit really nicely on the sawed off intake trunk. I chose the red/black scheme as a bastardization (I've come this far right?) of the orange test schemes we see in history. I figured the white decals will really make for a striking contrast once they're applied. I shaved all the elongated aerodynamic bits off the wing tips and rudders. That aspect of the kit was cool and all, but didn't appeal to me. The burner can and gatling gun received a light gun metal finish and eventually the whole model will have a panel line wash with promodeler product. The cockpit area will remain black, with no fanfare or extra detailing via paints. At this scale it's a bonus to have knobby things included but once that canopy is installed you can forget seeing it from inside my display case. I chose this tamiya yellow green for my interior coatings, like the WW2 chromate used in that period. I felt it was fitting as so much of this aircraft feels inspired by the planes of the age. I did the landing gear in the same color and then washed the items and bays with citadel's badab black wash thinned with plain old water. It settles nicely and is a worry free detail aid. Under wing hard points are intended for big, clumsy looking drop tanks. I intend to attach some Macross goodies once they arrive in the mail and I've had a chance to duplicate them. Enjoy... C+C welcome. modelglue
  9. Bandai just updated the mysteriously blank www.gundam-bf.net and we have been given an interesting promo and told to expect the full reveal on July 2. There was also a blurb on Gundam.info. Google Translate sucks. It sounds like an anime but why the model scale designator 1/144? I guess we'll find out.
  10. I finally took the dive and ordered a Cube-3D printer from Staples. Here is the link: http://www.staples.com/Cube-3D-Printer-Silver/product_201876?externalize=certona . It is a hunk of change, but prices on printers have gone down drastically since I've started following this. I also like how it's basically 3d printing for idiots and it's supposed to work right out of the box... I highly doubt it will be so though. My main interest is just to create some low polygon count scifi recreations. Has anyone experimented with 3D printing? I think I saw some Macross replacement parts on Shapeways not long ago.
  11. In case some of you dream to have 3d collection or embed it somewhere, your dream came true! (IT takes some to to load the textures) Macross Plus YF-19 (View in 3D) Macross Plus YF-21 (View in 3D) Macross Zero VF-0S Roy Fokker (View in 3D) Macross Zero SV-51 Nora (View in 3D)

  13. The VF-1 Riders. I've seen a lot of their work on the net, and it's pretty phenomenal. But does anyone know more about them? How many members, where are they located, how can you join? Even if you don't know, click the link and enjoy their work.
  14. From were we left the last time : http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=25599&st=1190 The next BMF vehicle : http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Rumor_Report_The_Next_BIG_Vehicle_138474.asp My guess it's the Sentinel Shuttle ,
  15. Okay the next new project that Thor and I will be attempting will be the Gallant H-90 sidearm from MOSPEADA. I have always thought the weapon was very cool and it turns out Thor does too. So we will be making the Gallant complete with interchangeable parts. (barrel extension, rifle stock etc.) I have attached the preliminary CAD drawing I have done and will be posting my progress as this replica is being made. Thor will be doing some #D renderings so that we can get the parts to fit together right so watch for those too. Any suggestions, comments are also welcomed.
  16. Hey everyone, It's been a while since I've posted any builds on this site. I think the last was the 1/60 scale drone from Macross Plus....it'll resurface one of these days! My current project a 1/10 scale interpretation of Jim's jeep from Mospeada. At this stage, it's simply a MDF mock-up. I'm hoping to finish it up by the end of the weekend and get started on the actual piece next week. I'll eventually offer this as a kit. I hope you enjoy. More soon.

  19. I figured I'd start a thread about the VF-2SS Valkyrie from Macross II. I'm attempting to sneak in some Macross II profiles for the M3 before Macross Frontier gets underway in April. I'm very unfamiliar with Macross II. Unlike all the other Macross shows, I've only ever seen Macross II once and it was many years ago. Needless to say I didn't care for it, but I'm building a VF-2SS profile now so I'll need a bit of help. First off, I need to know if I got the colors correct. All the pictures online are very deceiving about the VF-2SS and some seem to give the fighter a blue tint. SO I've created a small comparison picture that I'd like fans to review and comment. EDIT Removed original pictures and inserted the most up to date color set Aside from the color, I'd like some information about the VF-2SS. There is next to nothing as far as statistics or official write ups, so the any official information you can provide would be appreciated. hellohikaru and Jedi Knight made a poster that contained some information, can they (or anyone else) confirm if these statistics are canon? Basically, I'm looking for facts and trivia I can build into a "Macross Mecha Manual-like" profile. What did the VF-2SS do? What are its capabilities? What is more advanced than previous generation Valkyries? If You've read the profiles on the M3, try to think about the kind of information that would fit into such a profile for the VF-2SS. Any help is appreciated.
  20. Maxfactory gives kaiyodo a run for its money. Check out the latest figma stuff i'll be buying. Saber
  21. Who liked Crusher Joe? Some mecha designs were by Shoji Kawamori who did beautiful work on Macross, as we all know. Some elements of his design evolution can clearly be seen in in Pinnace Fighter. Although a couple of models of this bird have been available in 144 & 100 scale, I didn't like them... they seemed to squat or not detailed enough for me. So I decided to build my own. Model is under construction, WIP below: http://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/PetarB/Pinnace/ Where I'm at:
  22. Wow after diggin up some 80's anime I found this cool opening theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AiIHL0pVMo Did anyone watched those TV series / OVA? (style makes me think of mospeada)
  23. Ah, the enigmatic Graham just refined his hint, so thought we might as well open up a new thread to discuss it. For one thing, we know it can't be Macross or Votoms. I don't think it's gonna be Orguss since Graham mentioned that another company is doing some Orguss stuff already. It's gotta make 'a lot of Macrossworlders happy' so it should be something we're familiar with. I personally would have wanted Mospeada mecha like the Mospeada itself or even better the Alpha fighters (lots of repaint possibilities on that one too so it would make sense from a practical standpoint. Hmmm...
  24. I had a couple of Dorvack (or Dorvack inspired) kits when I was a kid. Now that I have some better skills, I'd like to try them again. One was a fully variable Calibur (jeep mecha) Not sure on the scale, maybe 72nd? The other was an armored suit with flying sled. This one had LEDs for the cannons and the main sled gun was spring loaded. Any help in identifying what these kits might have been would be great. Again, these were styrene kits, not toys. The only Calibur kit I have googled up is a jeep only mode, but the one I had was fully variable. Thanks in advance
