Out of nowhere Bandai is bringing a new action figure. I couldn’t find a thread for the show, so I figured I’d start one in case other items appear like new kits other action figures or just a rerelease of the series.

I saw these kits for preorder the other night and got curious and checked out the first 4 episodes. The last 2 are premium. Seems that aliens sell humans an obsolete piece of machinery cheap to us humans and we take that tech and first start using them for labor the of coarse we eventually arm them for combat. The frame has a mind link with the operator, so the controls are non existent. Each episode is only about 12 minutes and seem more about world building than character development, but the combat scenes are fun. each kit has the basic frame but with additional armor and weapons along with a pilot figure. They’re 1/35 and would probably work really well in modern military dioramas. If my measurements are correct they’re only about 3 inches tall though. I guess there’s also an issue of Hobby Japan that has a kit of the frame as an added bonus.

Captain’s Log: Friday, October 10th. Southern-Cross garage kits are among the rarest of the rare, assuming there are any out there at all. A while back, I was approached by a fellow MWer about mastering the patterns for the Bioroid drop-ship. It seemed like it would be a fun project, so I gladly accepted. So as with all projects, I begin by drafting some basic technical drawings from which I can carve parts. As is to be expected from line-art of that by-gone era, the different views of the ship don’t even correspond with each other, and this case is a particularly bad one! So after a bit of back_&-forth with the client, I finalize the diagrams and can now begin making a mess in my workshop! I had a block of modeling board, but the edges were rough so I had to mill it down to create some square edges. The block is so large that I had to get « creative » just to be able to work on it (pic 1) Now I have drawings, style-sheet reference, and a block of modeling board: watch me turn this block into a finished set of masters in 30 days or less! (pic 2) Pic 3: the block is so large that it just barely fits under the bandsaw at maximum clearance: problematic, but not insurmountable. We will take the long road… Pic 4: I use my trusty drill press with a cutting wheel mounted. Since I can’t cut all the way through such a large part, I settle for notching the cut mark all around the part. Pic 5: time to break-out the hack-saw and manually cut the board! It’s a long, tedious process, but it must be done. Pic 6: the cut came out a lot rougher than I would have liked, but no worries. Back to the drill press, this time using a grinding stone to level the surface of the cut and make it perfectly flat. Pic 7: there were still some nasty saw-marks in the board, even after the grinding. To avoid removing too much (very expensive) material, I just use some polyester putty to cover the scars. Easy-peasy! Pic 8: now that I have smaller parts, I can cut them on the bandsaw to remove excess material and begin to shape the parts accordingly. Pic 9: after some grinding and sanding, the parts are starting to come along. I will likely want to fiddle with some of the details as I go along, simply because the line-art is so loosey-goosey and there’s leeway for tweaking to get the coolest looking shapes possible. i might aswell make this an actual thread... i have have started my very first Diorama, and its is the SDF-1 situated on macross island, its will be in scale 1/8000. the SDF-1 model im using in the diorama is a Bandai 1/8000 storm attacker kit, i converted into Cruiser mode, i had to remodel some of the parts since they where not to scale or was simply the wrong shape, changes made to parts where: Main cannon (gave it more bulk and more details) Main Cannon connector (changed shape completely) bridge boom (made from scratch) bridge (needed separation and details) main thrusters (looked to much like feet, changed shape and added details) the diorama rough sketch is pretty much done, need more roads though.

I'm baaaaack! And this time I plan to reissue the King Crab (Gosu doppleganger) kit, with your help. This is the biggest and most elaborate of all the Inbit kits in my line, a true King Crab! Just as with the original, it will have a translucent eye and canopy part as well as a detailed cockpit ready to accept aftermarket pilot figues (not included this time). Just like the Pinky, the kit is free-pose. Price would be $300 CAD (about $233 US)+ shipping with up-front payment required and I'd need a minimum of 10 orders to get the ball rolling on the project. Shipping prices are as follows: -$26 CAD per kit shipped in Canada or the US -$48 CAD per kit shipped internationally. Any takers?

Hi everyone, long time no see! I was wondering, since there's a minor revival of MOSPEADA with the upcoming Legioss toy, if anyone would be interested in acquiring some of my Space Crab kits? My thoughts would be to re-issue the Pinky Space Crab [Gurab] to start with. I would basically need 10 orders minimum to get the project going. Update: Exo has graciously offered a 1/48 scale figure to compliment the Pinky kit, so each Crab will come with one. THREE CHEERS FOR EXO!!! Price would be $134 CAD (about $99 US)+ shipping with up-front payment required. Hey guys, I thought I'd do a little shameless self promotion. I wouldn't normally do this but I think you guys would like the giant mecha and fantasy subject matter with a little idol fairy. This is a VR project "Crowe: The Drowned Armory" that I've been heading up with a tiny crew of about 10 people and we've been busting our humps getting it to a great spot for a spring release. Hi guys! As promised, I am putting forth the final pitch to gauge interest in a 1/48 Mospeada Legioss soldier mode (hereinafter referred to as Buster: Henshin Robo) resin model to accompany the Crabb army which I made a little while ago. I would also make all three head variations: Blue, Green and Red to allow for more versatility in the collection. Kit would be free-pose type (build it in the desired pose only) although certain joints will allow for minimal re-posing. Decals and markings: I will do the artwork, which I will then offer as open-source so that you can download and print as you see fit. This is going to be quite a bit more of an undertaking than most of my previous models, simply by virtue of its geometric complexity so you'd be looking at a $292 Canadian price-point (about $222 US) plus shipping. I would need a minimum of 30 orders to get the ball rolling so ask yourselves: is Buster right for YOU?

I kinda got at this in my AVF Upgrade thread, and it's probably been on here at least a thousand times. But what's your favorite Macross Mecha of all time? I'll kick it off, I love the YF-19/VF-19A. It's got a dangerous sensuality to it. It's what my dad would call a sexy airplane (he's an old F106 driver). I like the forward swept wings, and the way it becomes an awesome robot. I asked mecha, so for you destroid lovers, you're welcome too. The destroids are interesting, being a battletech guy, I have a soft spot for them. I'd actually see a use for destroids, especially when given the existence of Macronized Zentradi elsewhere in the Macross universe. Variable fighters are expensive and there are only so many of them. I think destroids are highly underrated. What about y'all?

Aaaand back to Macross! Maybe. So as I had stated in a previous thread, there were some outstanding Macross subjects still needing to be done, namely the Zentradi battle suits. I'm offering this subject as the next contender in the 1/72 series, which would have the following characteristics: - based on the TV series design -can be built with cockpit open or closed -in-scale with my previously-released Zentradi soldier, so will be quite a large kit (22.5-23cm tall!) Due to its size and the complexity of the sculpt, this would NOT be a cheap offering at 355.00 Canadian ($285 US approximately) but it would be... Glorious!!! As you have all put a $200 CAD deposit, there is the $155 CAD outstanding balance on the kits as well as the shipping fees which are as follows: $30.00 CAD up to 2 kits for USA/Canada $72.00 CAD for international shipping. Also very important: please add an extra 5% to the total to cover transaction fees if there are any. Generally PP will let you know before you send if there are fees and ask you if you will pay or make the recipient pay. I will commence casting on Monday once I test and group the molds for optimum casting.

Discotek Media just announced today on their Facebook page that they will bring Robot Carnival (ロボット・カーニバル) back into the U.S. anime market. This means that the American general public will see the original Japanese version for the first time ever.

i started this back in 2011, but i got sidetracked in to various other projects! i simply love the design of this fighter, but this model not so much...yet. if bandai's 1/55 VF-1 was a chuncky monkey, this model is a flying Burger!! the only thing on this that is scale 1/100 or closest to, is the plane itself. the rest is way out of scale, well thats how it looks to me. i decided to rework it all to make it look like the linedrawings... as much as i like to make it look like this! it wont be possible in this scale with transformation _________________________________________________________________________________________________ first up was the back thruster parts, hollowed them out to make room for actual thrusters but when i revisited them i decided they where still to thick/big, so i made them thinner. more to come soon.... need to take some updated picture of the parts as they are now...
