  1. This is based on a tow tractor support vehicle that came out in the first episode of SDF Macross. The tow bar connects to a VF-1 Tow hook but I've also included another hook to secure it. It actually works without it. It comes with a driver. Thanks for looking! Comments welcome.
  2. Hi I'm new here and used to be an aircraft scale modeler. (Any ARCers here? ) Here is my customized Yamato 1/60 VF-1J. I resribed tons of new panel lines and rivets according to Hasegawa injection kit level, and also sand off the combining line and ugly screw holes which makes it so toy-like. (Yes it's a toy but I prefer to think it as a perfectly transformable VF model.) I also added some low-viz US NAVY stencil decals and the famous Skull leader logo decal on it. I did order one Yamato 1/60 VF-1 assemble model kit which was announced to be released in October, but after I customize this one I just canceled my preorder of the kit. I found the paints could never stick hard on the kit surface because the plastic is all made by ABS, not the normal injection kit ones. So I gave up to paint it thouroughly but just some place that I can still play with it after painting without chopping off the paints. Hope you like it! Cheers, Yufei Fighter Mode
  3. (Actually SFW, I forgot about the auto-censor. CHEERS) THE ALTERNATE ENDING TO MACROSS: FRONTIER >Alto is sitting atop the hill in City 25 >Folding his paper airplane and reflecting on crap like a bitch, unable to choose which girl he likes >He throws the paper airplane >A blue paper plane flies by and causes the other one to burst into flames out of pure spite >Max Jenius, now in his early 60s walks up with both Ranka and Sheryl in his arms >Alto's like WTF >Max just smirks and walks away >Becomes the new Protagonist >Doesn't take crap from anyone >kicks Ozma's ass >Michel becomes his bitch wingman >Paints Alto's VF-25F Blue >Michel has to paint his cannon fodder tan now because he's a pleb TO BE CONTINUED ... ...RIGHT frakkING NOW (the ride never ends) >Alto is forced to having to wear his Goth Lolita costume whenever he even thinks about approaching Max's bridge >Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, Max runs that crap on the quarter now >Wilder is in the bitch seat, left to command only when Max is out kicking ass in his BLUE VF-25F >Nevershotdown.jpg >Kills every single Vajra before they even get the chance to realize that they aren't evil >Who gives a crap anyway? THE END
  4. Hello MW! Hopefully nobody minds if I just start up this thread to capture my progress as I delve into the scifi genre a little more and give my newly acquired Macross models some love. I started the Hasegawa Spacewolf model in 1/72 back on the 'What lying on your workbench...' thread and figured I would give it a home of it's own. The Hasegawa kit, for those interested, practically falls together. It was a headache free, simple build that would see little weathering or preshading as I intended to display it in a cross over scheme as a Macross realm prototype. Purists may hate it, and Harlock fans may shake their fists... but I just had to do it. I mean, come on! - the decal sheet sports skull squadron markings! Here's some pics of my build so far. I meant to keep this build light and easy, but I still needed to resolve how to arm it with a large calibre gatling gun as promised in the other thread. I resorted to casting the barrel end of the riptide kit from Games Workshop/Citadel and it fit really nicely on the sawed off intake trunk. I chose the red/black scheme as a bastardization (I've come this far right?) of the orange test schemes we see in history. I figured the white decals will really make for a striking contrast once they're applied. I shaved all the elongated aerodynamic bits off the wing tips and rudders. That aspect of the kit was cool and all, but didn't appeal to me. The burner can and gatling gun received a light gun metal finish and eventually the whole model will have a panel line wash with promodeler product. The cockpit area will remain black, with no fanfare or extra detailing via paints. At this scale it's a bonus to have knobby things included but once that canopy is installed you can forget seeing it from inside my display case. I chose this tamiya yellow green for my interior coatings, like the WW2 chromate used in that period. I felt it was fitting as so much of this aircraft feels inspired by the planes of the age. I did the landing gear in the same color and then washed the items and bays with citadel's badab black wash thinned with plain old water. It settles nicely and is a worry free detail aid. Under wing hard points are intended for big, clumsy looking drop tanks. I intend to attach some Macross goodies once they arrive in the mail and I've had a chance to duplicate them. Enjoy... C+C welcome. modelglue
  5. Yes I know an odd topic, but where do we think Alaska Base was suppossed to be located? Let's face it Alaska is a big place, so is Alaska Base in the middle of no where or possibly colocated with an existing facility like Elmendorf or Eileson?
  6. We'll be presenting our Macross/Robotech: Mythology & Physics panel at Otakon 2013 in Baltimore, MD. We tap into the full 30 years of Macross & Robotech and beyond. Mythology will dip into the past and swing around to things with a more recent pop-cultural sci-fi/superhero flavour. Deculture! We'll also have some fun with physics without making your head hurt too much Bazinga! PLUS, Music is such a huge part of Macross/Robotech, that we will include a new special live performance. If you are cosplaying any Macross or Robotech character, join us after the panel for a group photo! So far it looks like we'll have Max, Milia, Minmay, Basara, Sheryl, Ranka, Ozma, Michael, and Yellow Dancer. Otakon 2013 Baltimore, MD August 9-11 www.otakon.com

  8. I am not sure if someone posted this already. But let's give it a try mine are Roy Fockers VF-1S the tv version, VF-25F Alto used and the YF-19.
  9. Hey fellas, I was trolling through youtube and saw quite a few macross themed vids. Just wondering what your favorite ones are. I'll post mine onece I get a few responses. Thanks
  10. Hey, I'm back at last with a new rendering of the Macross Fanracer. I changed the wings (again ;D) and added a pilot built in Poser. I wanted to replicate the feeling of an old photograph from the pioneers of aviation Find the other works on http://zpaolo.deviantart.com
  11. We are thinking about doing a short Max & Milia wedding ceremony at Otakon 2013. It'd be great to have fellow Macross cosplayers in attendance. We're looking for someone interested in being Captain Global to conduct the ceremony. Contact me if you're interested.
  12. I would like to request advice from the ise membership of this forum. I have a son, who has recently turned 8. As I was imbibing subitled SDFM, he noticed. But I don't think he can read fast enough to watch subtitled stuff. I found a dubioius Russian voiceover of DYRL (we're a bilingual family here, Russian and English). We watched that together, ahd he liked it very much, but had way more questions than answers. I could not help him because my reaction to the movie was the same. (Well I did find some answers by googling and asking here, yet...) I am thinking of getting voiceover SDFM for him (or the ADV 2006 dub, which is probably better than any fan/pirate voiceover despite the age discrepancy with Minmay, which undfortunately does get heard sometimes). But, what after the 36 episodes? I would not feel comfortable giving Frontier to an 8 year old. It has way too many adult themes, not to mention Sheryl "Hopes and Dreams" Nome (in the movies she becomes, for this purpose, Sheryl "Universal Bunny" Nome). What *can* I give him if he asks for more Macross, seeing as I do have it? Is M7 more child-safe than Frontier? Or should I just tell him "get these and you get more when you turn 13"? Or go the easy way and give him Robotech instead? But, Reba West. I don't want him getting the idea that THIS is the kind of culture that can impress aliens. (Yes, Minmay is pop, but she's good pop).
  13. Encountered this amazing build by carefuldriverhongkon. at first i thought that this was not a lego model, but after a few seconds of watching it, i realized Oh My God!! It really is made of Lego. Its that amazing and of Engineering marvel that it rivals the model manufactured by Yamato... and oh... it transforms from ship mode to Battle mode too.. Heres the link
  14. Macross doesn't shy away from presenting viewers with some heavy issues. This AMV illustrates the troubled relationship between Kyle & Minmay. Not everyone survives the pitfalls of the celebrity spotlight, it can be very unforgiving. https://vimeo.com/63944523
  15. Hello all, I'm an old time Macross fan and I used to do Macross related CGI work in the past, my latest project is building a 3D CAD model of the Macross Fanracer (or Fan Racer) Hikaru pilots at the beginning of the Macross TV show. I did some changes to modernize the shape a bit, and I'm planning to add more details soon... You can find other works on my deviantart page http://zpaolo.deviantart.com Paolo
  16. Hi, I'm starting my 3d model of the VF-25F in solidworks. I hope to get it from a 3d printer. I'm looking for informations of details, some books you recommend? Grts, Pablo
  17. From the album: Zenkaikon 2013

Picture of us with Robotech's Ben Dixon voice actor Richard Epcar at Zenkaikon 2013. During our Macross/Robotech panel at Zenkaikon we showed a special tribute to Ben Dixon. It's posted on vimeo now: https://vimeo.com/62740839 It depicts the fun loving & jovial Ben Dixon and hints at the aviation origins of his Robotech name, the character was originally Hayao Kakizaki in Macross.
  18. From the album: Macross at Tekkoshocon X-2

I composited our group picture from Tekkoshocon with a great valkyrie picture that I found with google. I can't take any credit for the background image but my hat's off to whoever created it.
  19. We'll be presenting our Macross: Mythology & Physics panel at Tekkoshocon X-2 in Pittsburgh this April. The schedule has not been released but it will likely be on Sunday. We will discuss Macross/Robotech connections to ancient & pop mythology and toss in a healthy dose of physics from quarks to m-theory. We're hoping to welcome a guest appearance from Sheryl & Ranka cosplayers for a live performance, it depends on when we get scheduled. http://www.tekkoshocon.com/
