  5. I was wodering is there any zone of enders mech toys out there?
  6. Sorry if this has already been mentioned but I did not see it. Netflix is bringing this title to the US? (or did they pay to have it made?). Looks interesting from the trailer. If Netflix follows their normal pattern I'll be binging on this on July 4th... http://www.blastr.com/2014-6-26/1st-trailer-netflixs-new-sci-fi-anime-knights-sidonia-awesome
  7. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1216340396/708365687?token=107d75bf This hasn't officially launched yet, but if/when it does, I'm easily in for $100.

  10. Since the mods refuse to update the title of the existing Gundam Show Thread, it's time that Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans (機動戦士ガンダム 鉄血のオルフェンズ) had its own thread. Here, we'll cover the TV series, Gunpla, and other related merchandise. The episodes are available on YouTube every Sunday night at 17:30 Japan time (except in the U.S. and a few other territories); the series is also available via Daisuki.net, Crunchyroll, and Funimation online. For starters, here's the story so far. Episode 1: "Iron and Blood" (鉄と血と) Episode 2: "Barbatos" (バルバトス) Episode 3: "Glorious Demise" (散華) Episode 4: "The Price of Life" (命の値段) Episode 5: "Beyond the Red Sky" (赤い空の向こう) Official Site by Sunrise Official Site by MBS
  11. Yo-Kai Watch (妖怪ウォッチ) Level-5/OLM Digital/Dentsu/TV Tokyo, 2014-present Coming to America in 2016 via Dentsu USA and Hasbro Directed by Shinji Ushiro (Strait Jacket, Blessing of the Campanella) Created by Level-5 (Dark Cloud, Inazuma Eleven) Running Time: 24 minutes per episode Not Rated (suggested TV-Y7). Contains some crude humor and mild language. Cast Haruka Tomatsu (Mileina in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Micott in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn) as Keita Amano Tomokazu Seki (Domon in Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Van in The Vision of Escaflowne) as Whisper Etsuko Kozakura (Ryo-ohki in Tenchi Muyo!, Tamama in Keroro Gunso) as Jibanyan Aya Endo (Sheryl Nome in Macross Frontier, Mirai Kamiki in Gundam Build Fighters Try) as Fumika "Fumi" Kodama Toru Nara as Gorota "Kuma" Kumashima Chie Satou (Bo-chan in Crayon Shin-chan) as Kanchi Imada Synopsis On a hot summer day, while hunting for insects, Keita Amano stumbles upon an old gashapon machine by a tree. Upon acquiring a capsule, he unleashes a ghost named "Whisper", who gives him a "Yo-Kai Watch" - a device that enables him to see other supernatural spirits. Together with the ghost cat Jibanyan, Keita and Whisper set off to solve supernatural problems around town. Story: B For the past year or so, Yo-Kai Watch has become the most popular children's anime in Japan, with every tourist spot selling souvenirs with Jibanyan on them (even more so than Hello Kitty or any other established character). The theatrical feature released last Christmas broke box-office records to earn over US$55 million. So what's the fuss? Nothing, really. Yo-Kai Watch is simply Pokémon with ghosts. You have your typical adolescent protagonist teamed up with a couple of mascots. But after watching the first couple of episode, you realize how down-to-earth the storylines are. Episode 1 deals with a ghost who is miserable because of an argument with her husband, so she indirectly causes Keita's parents to fight over, well, pudding. And it's up to Keita to sort things out with the ghost. Yeah, this is all silly stuff, but it works out very well in this series. Perhaps the show-stealer is Jibanyan, a ghost that haunts a crosswalk because he was once a cat that was hit by a truck years ago. The impact must have been so great that he doesn't remember his former name. Because of the incident, he struggles to stop every truck crossing that intersection, only to end up on the other side of town. Once you get to know the truth behind the incident, you'll definitely tear up. Animation: B Nothing really special about the animation and character designs, but for something designed for children, this will suffice. Soundtrack: B Try getting the opening theme out of your head. I challenge you. Sub vs. Dub Coming in 2016. The Bottom Line Yo-Kai Watch is already a massive hit in Japan, but will it be the next Pokémon when it arrives Stateside? Only time will tell. 12. Upcoming series. Ridiculous name, but has some big names attached to it and some gorgeous looking animation (trailer needs more robots tho !) http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-12-30/gargantia-on-the-verdurous-planet-1st-full-promo-subtitled-in-english
  13. I know that this: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=26575&&page=3 ...is the general MW Orguss topic, but I figured since it hadn't been updated since 2008 it would be OK to start a new thread.... now that it has been revealed to be on the way for an autumn release on Blu-ray! Remastered in high definition! (revealed inside the Macross Plus boxset) http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=37865&p=1055413 This page should be updated with details soon: http://www.toei-video.co.jp/BD/orguss.html
  14. Please forgive me if this has been posted before. How old were you when you first discovered Macross? It doesn't matter if it was Robotech or not, since it 'tech uses the same animation for the first third of their saga. I was about 14, just getting into anime, back when it was still rare and underground. I had heard of Robotech from when I was younger, from commericals and all, but it was never on here. So, I discovered that a video store here had anime for rent. I clearly remember renting Project A-KO, but saw both Robotech II the Sentinels and Macross II (this was the VHS days) on the shelf as well. I later rented Robotech II, but honestly didn't understand any bit of it. A few weeks later I rented Macross II vol 1, and I was amazed by the space combat and storyline. I then subequently rented the later volumes when the store got them in. An anime all about transforming jets? Yeah I was definitely pleased. I later rented Clash of the Bionoids from another rental store, by this time I knew it was Macross, but still didn't know how it was related to Robotech at all. A few years later I found out the "awful" truth about the differences between Robotech and Macross, By that time, I had all 4 vhs OVA episodes of Macross Plus (still my favorite macross story to date), had purchased the "Uncut" version of Clash of the Bionoids, aka "SDF Macross: Do You Remember Love?" as everyone else in the world knows it as. Then Robotech came on Toonami (RIP) , and I was able to enjoy it knowing it as an alternate universe to a greater storyline. Years later I was finally able to watch the original Macross series the way it was originally intended to, and enjoy it that much more So, what's your Macross story?
  15. I translated another Miyatake interview, this time focusing on ORGUSS. I put this up on the front page, but the auto-link discussion thread that is usually created ended up being buried in the "Collectors" forum for some reason. Anyway, check it out: http://www.macrossworld.com/kazutaka-miyatake-interview-from-megahouse-variable-action-hi-spec-orguss/

  18. Anyone... Reading some information, very limited right now, on the new Gundam Unicorn 0096. So far it is a novel base anime with the anime series in the works or in the process of being made. Bought the latest Hobby Japan magazine and it has some great stuff on this new Gundam series. Remind me of the Gundam Char's Counterattack, which I was told the new 0096 is base on the story of war after the Char's Counterattack? Anyone has any information, please share with the rest of us. Cheers

  20. After reading some of the comments in the Southern Cross topic and thinking for a while. For the first time I came to the conclusion or perhaps realization that a lot of the anime I like might be past its selling point for most. I grew up with this stuff and it’s still cool to me. Sometimes it feels like yesterday even though it was back in the 80s or early 90s. I still want items from these shows but the majority either don’t or grew out of it. Which is sad because current technology allows many anime toys, models, and figures to be produced at high quality. I even came up with a new project idea while thinking about one of these older anime shows. To me Southern Cross is great. I still want a hovertank, hovercycle, and Dana figure. I was listening to the music from Zillion and remembered that we never got the full series over here. I only have some of the VHS tapes. Something happened to my SEGA Master System games. I need to get them again. I still want well done Dangaio team ships that are transformable with fairly detailed figures. Accurate Voltron lions ever since it was mentioned in a topic here. So much should be coming out but it's almost like we get a tease and then a cancellation. I’m still upset about Rook’s cyclone / ride armor. There was a good Noriko kit from Gunbuster that never came out or is so rare I can’t find it. And of course figures of Minmay and others from Macross since the days of unpainted kits being the best you can get are long gone. Do you guys still want this stuff? Or are you satisfied with what we are getting?
  21. Project A-Ko (プロジェクトA子) A.P.P.P./Soeishinsha/Pony Canyon/Media Factory, 1986, 2003 U.S. Manga Corps, 1991, 2002; Discotek Media, 2011 Directed by Katsuhiko Nishijima (Aika, Najica Blitz Tactics)Running Time: 80 minutes Rated TV-14 for violence, nudity, mature situations and strong language. Cast (Japanese) Miki Ito (Battle Angel, Android No. 18 in Dragon Ball Z/GT) as A-Ko Magami Emi Shinohara (Makoto/Sailor Jupiter in Sailor Moon, Angel in The Big O) as B-Ko Daitokuji Michie Tomizawa (Rei/Sailor Mars in Sailor Moon, Jeanne in Southern Cross) as C-Ko Kotobuki Shuichi Ikeda (Char in Mobile Suit Gundam, Mason in Bubblegum Crisis) as Captain Napolipolita Tessho Genda (Sanders in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Convoy/Optimus Prime in Transformers) as D Asami Mukaidono as Miss Ayumi Sayuri Ikemoto as Mari (female voice) Daisuke Gouri (Dozle Zabi in Mobile Suit Gundam, Edmond Honda in Street Fighter II: The Movie) as Mari (angry voice) Yoko Ogai (Captain Tsubasa) as Asa Yoshino Takamori (Nadia of the Mysterious Seas, Sayaka in Yawara! A Fashionable Judo Girl) as Ine Megumi Hayashibara (Come on! Don't tell me you don't know her voice.) as Ume Synopsis Sixteen years have passed since a mysterious alien ship crashed on Earth. On Graviton City, superhuman high school student A-Ko Magami dukes it out with the diabolical genius B-Ko Daitokuji, who will stop at nothing to win the friendship of A-Ko's buddy C-Ko Kotobuki. Meanwhile, in outer space, another alien ship is on course towrds Earth to find its planet's lost princess. Story: A- Many anime parodies have come and gone, but few can compare to Project A-Ko with its non-stop humor and wonderful set of characters. Whether it's the excessively energetic A-Ko, the ever-annoying C-Ko or the muscular freak Mari (a parody of Fist of the North Star's Kenshiro), you can't help but laugh at every minute of gags that poke fun at nearly every major anime title conceived during its time. Animation: A+ Next to Macross: Do You Remember Love?, Project A-Ko was the major highlight of Japanese animation in the mid-'80s. The film features some of Yuji Moriyama's (Maison Ikkoku, 801 T.T.S. Airbats) best character designs and a handful of groundbreaking mecha action by Shoichi Masuo (Vandread, Dirty Pair). B-Ko's Akagiyama-23 bio-suit paved the way for other sexy female gear like the Hard Suits of Bubblegum Crisis. Soundtrack: B+ Even though it's aged considerably, Richie Zito and Joey Carbone's musical score is pretty decent. The theme songs "Dance Away (A-Ko's Theme)," "In Your Eyes (B-Ko's Theme)" and "Follow Your Dream (C-Ko's Theme)" are typical '80s bubblegum pop, but still catchy. Sub vs. Dub The English dub by Manga Video is typical of the company: utter crap. DVD Extras I don't have the DVD yet, but from the information on the cover, Central Park Media's new Collector's Series edition has the film digitally remastered and in full-screen (revealing the fact that the original's letterbox format is merely black bars pasted on the film). Also included is the original soundtrack CD. The Bottom Line New anime fans who want more old-school should pick up Project A-Ko, whether it's for the laughs or the cool animation. A classic that should be part of your collection. Reference Anime News Network
  22. M.D. Geist: Collector's Series (M.D. Geist: Director's Cut + M.D. Geist II: Death Force) ( M.D.ガイスト 1-2 ) Nippon Columbia/Denon, 1986/1996 U.S. Manga Corps, 1992/1996, 2002; ADV Films, 2009 Directed by Koichi Ohata (Gunbuster, Ikki Tousen) (M.D. Geist originally directed by Hayato Ikeda) Rated 16-Up for extreme violence and gore, nudity and profanity. M.D. Geist (装鬼兵MDガイスト) In the distant future, mankind has colonized other planets in the universe. While many planets lived in peace, one planet has been ravaged by decades of war. Geist, an enhanced soldier, wakes up from his cryogenic sleep to engage in another war. This time, to help the army stop the planet's central computer from activating a doomsday device. M.D. Geist II: Death Force (装鬼兵MDガイスト2) After unleashing the Death Force machines, Geist has kept himself busy by dismantling them one by one. But now he faces a formidable opponent in the form of Krauser, another enhanced soldier who has aligned himself as the only savior of mankind. An instant flop in Japan in 1986, M.D. Geist was picked up by U.S. Manga Corps in the early 1990s as the company's corporate logo. Because of their obsession with Geist, U.S. Manga Corps gave creator Koichi Ohata (Aim for the Top! Gunbuster, Genocyber) a fat paycheck to refine the OAV and produce a sequel. The results can be found in this DVD package. Cast Norio Wakamoto (Coach in Gunbuster, Chiyochichi in Azumanga Daioh) as M.D. Geist (original 1986 version) Kazuhiro Nakata (Ron in Outlaw Star, Bear in .hack//) as M.D. Geist (Director's Cut and M.D. Geist II) Fumi Hirano (Lum in Urusei Yatsura) as Vaiya (original 1986 version) Rica Matsumoto (Jim in Outlaw Star, Aoi in You're Under Arrest) as Vaiya (Director's Cut) Rica Fukami (Myung in Macross Plus, Minako/Sailor Venus in Sailor Moon) as Vaiya (M.D. Geist II) Akio Nojima (Aaron in Armored Trooper Votoms, Alexander in Eureka Seven AO) as Kurtz (original 1986 version) Unshou Ishizuka (Jet in Cowboy Bebop, Guld in Macross Plus) as Kurtz (Director's Cut) Kaneto Shiozawa (1954-2000) (Rei in Fist of the North Star, M'quve in Mobile Suit Gundam) as M.D. Krauser Story: F What story? All I see is brainless, gratuitous violence. Animation: D M.D. Geist: Director's Cut has crude, low-budget OAV animation, and the colors of the added footage do not mix with the old footage. M.D. Geist II has cleaner artwork, but suffers from, well, lack of animation. Roughly 80% of the OAV consists of just still shots. And you'd think U.S. Manga Corps would spare no expense on their corporate mascot... Soundtrack: D- Bad enough that you see bad animation in M.D. Geist. Worse is that you have to put up with some cheesy music to go with it, along with some crappy songs about the guy. I feel sorry for the great Hironobu Kageyama (Dragon Ball Z, Mazinkaiser), who recorded the theme songs. This is, by far, the worst original Japanese soundtrack for any anime. Sub vs. Dub Quite frankly, the voice acting is laughable. And I'm talking about both English and Japanese versions. DVD Extras: B Apparently, U.S. Manga Corps still worships this title. In 2002, they released the Collector's Series version of this DVD, phasing out the mediocre Image Entertainment version. With that in mind, U.S. Manga Corps went all-out by remastering the picture quality. (Wow - M.D. Geist II was done in 1996 and the quality's already deteriorating?) Also included in the two-disc set are the following features: Commentary by creators Koichi Ohata/Riku Sanjo (In Japanese) Alternate angles (using the graphic novel published by CPM Manga) Storyboards Art gallery Geist Rider Scrapbook - A look at the customized Harley Davidson bike inspired by the anime A really, really stupid music video So far, Netflix sent me disc one only. From what I've read, disc two just has more artwork from Ohata. And I have absolutely no time to view that. The Bottom Line U.S. Manga Corps needs a new corporate mascot. I'll take the Geist Rider, though. On a side note, imagine if Central Park Media decided to produce a live-action M.D. Geist movie. It would probably star Dolph Lundgren as Geist.
  23. Any other fans of Hirohiko Araki here? The artist famous for Jojo's Bizarre Adventure! I recommend it for anyone looking for a mature Manga title with some strange magical storylines and cool fight scenes. The Manga(Generation 3 anyway) is now coming out here finally! http://www.viz.com/products/products.php?series_id=224 I am hoping if it sells well that we can get Generations 1-2,and 4-7 over here. You can also get the OVA's of the same series here. http://www.supertechnoarts.com/ So far I have read through volume 3 and love it. I ordered the entire set of DVDs after reading this review http://www.dvdvisionjapan.com/Jojodvd1.htm I cant wait to watch them. I cant put my finger on it but I really did the style and art in Jojo's. It is a mix of Tetsuo Hara(Fist of the North Star/Blue Sky) and something more akin to a standard Shonen Weekly. If anyone has any info on the other series or just some comments that would be cool. Thanks!
