Old MW Post count

  1. If the board software is counting my posts correctly this is my 5000th post after a little over 10 years. So I want to use this as a opportunity to thank @Graham and @Shawn for providing this platform for me to geek out over Macross and various other topics. I want to thank the admins that they keep such a tight ship making MWF one of the more pleasant places on the Internet. And I want to thank the members of the forums because they provide so much useful and entertaining content (and are generally pleasant to interact and converse with) . I originally lurked on and finally joined Macross World because it was the place to be to get all the information about DX Chogokin Renewals that were hard to even preorder back then. But even before I bought all the toys I ever wanted I found this a wholesome community I interact with on a daily basis so… Thank you!!! PS: in the age of social networks and Discord servers a message board is quite an antique piece of software but I hope it will be around for a little longer.

  4. Voice actress and singer Tomo Sakurai announced on her official website on Thursday that she is retiring from voice acting. She stated in her announcement that it has become more difficult for her to use her voice, and she decided to retire for that reason. She noted that she has been working in the entertainment industry for three decades, and will stop updating her homepage. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-09-01/macross-7-rurouni-kenshin-voice-actress-and-singer-tomo-sakurai-retires/.106021

Edit of Macross 7 line-art of the VF-19 to conform with my inspiration/refinement of the unit. VF-19FX; Based in the F-type with eXtensions (FF-2550J & EX-Gear controls) for VF Pilots. Cultural Note; 'Fragarach' is the name of a sword from Irish myth that was said to place the command of the wind in the wielder's hands. 11. (Long time no posts. I am binging on Macross again, and finally got around to watching the whole original series.) So, am watching 7 for the first time in... a long time... and I still hate Chie Kajiura's singing. Except now I know why... at the time she had a weak voice and amateurish singing skills at best, and when compared to Yoshiki Fukuyama's EPIC POWERS OF ROCK (his songs are still good 18 years later... that can be said about very few fictional bands), it seems even worse, especially when she's singing a capella...and even more so when you consider how good Mari Ijima (at least for a 17 year-old 80's Idol) and the Frontier girls were. Speaking of which, I came with striking distance of May'n a few years ago when I snuck backstage at the World Cosplay Summit (long story). YOU MAD? (hehehe)
  12. We'll be presenting our Macross/Robotech: Mythology & Physics panel at Otakon 2013 in Baltimore, MD. We tap into the full 30 years of Macross & Robotech and beyond. Mythology will dip into the past and swing around to things with a more recent pop-cultural sci-fi/superhero flavour. Deculture! We'll also have some fun with physics without making your head hurt too much Bazinga! PLUS, Music is such a huge part of Macross/Robotech, that we will include a new special live performance. If you are cosplaying any Macross or Robotech character, join us after the panel for a group photo! So far it looks like we'll have Max, Milia, Minmay, Basara, Sheryl, Ranka, Ozma, Michael, and Yellow Dancer. Otakon 2013 Baltimore, MD August 9-11 www.otakon.com
  13. I'm finally caught up on my Macross reviews! After all this time i can finally share my thoughts! And I'm not alone either, this time I've got MacrossWorld's own Gubaba with me to offer his own vast insight. This interview was so long I actually had to have outtakes! Also on iTunes. http://reignofchaos.podbean.com/2013/04/30/episode-18-fleet-of-the-strongest-podcasts/
  14. VE-11 Thunderseeker. Throwing Macross 7 a little milking-the-mold love.
  15. We just received word that our Macross/Robotech panel was accepted for Zenkaikon 2013 in Lancaster, PA. We are currently scheduled for Sunday the 24th at 2PM. We will delve into some ancient & pop mythologies and dabble in some 21st century physics. Robotech voice actor Richard Epcar will be a guest at Zenkaikon this year. www.zenkaikon.com
  16. I watched DYRL and just finished SDF. SDF was great! Question is what should I watch next? (and any ideas where I can watch for free would be great too)
  17. I have a few questions about the escorts of the different ships that accompany the NMC ships, such as the ones seen in the Macross 7 fleet: -First of all, Why doesn't the Mark Twain VII has an escort vessel? Is it too small in comparison to the other vesels to be assigned one or is there another reason? -Before the next question, one quick doubt: is the Budokan Concert ship seen in the opening of Macross 7 Dynamite part of the Macross 7 fleet? -While Mark Twain VII Resort ship operates without an escort vessel, the non-animated Heaven Cemetary ship supposedly has a Northampton class vessel docked to it. But what about the Budokan Concert ship? Does it have an escort vessel? -If it does have an escort, what ship class does the it belong to? -The escorts of the Three Star Factory ship and Sunnyflower Agricultural ship are a Northampton and a Guantánamo class ships respectively. Is there a reason why they don't have an Uraga class ship as an escort instead, just like the rest of emigration vessels? -Is it possible for them to dock with an Uraga class ship instead if available or if a emergency required them to? -Finally, would it be right to assume that by the late 2050's, these emigration vessels could also potentially dock with a Macross Quarter class vessel instead of their other more traditional escorts?
  18. I wasn't going to start a new thread just for this, but the search function really sucks here and I couldn't find any Macross 7 Blu-ray discussion, except for in the FB7 thread. Anyway, I was going through some of the materials included with the first Blu-ray Box of M7, and I found something odd. In the illustration collection booklet, there is a picture of the cover of the old This is Animation Special book. Except it's been modified -- Mylene's face is now drawn closer to Mikimoto's current style, as opposed to his 1990s style. I consulted the largest copy of that image I have, the one in the Gallery section of the Macross Chronicle, and sure enough, the difference is night and day. Basara's face remains unchanged. I have included pics of both so you can check for yourself. Why was this necessary?? Sigh. At least they didn't change the show... oh, apart from the ending of the first episode, which didn't originally have "to be continued" at the end, before the credits (although this change was already present in the 2007 HD remaster DVD box set).
  19. Thanks to the Macross Share guys for uploading this old PC game. You can easily extract the resources from it and check out the latest in home digital technology circa 1995. Probably the biggest draw for this game is a couple of "virtual concerts." I put them on youtube for your convenience It's a radically Quicktime! Another movie on here teaches you have to use Photoshop to edit a bunch of raw cel scans they included on the disk into your own images. That was very nice of them.
