    Macross figures

There have been so many other figures of them over the last decade that I suspect the market reached capacity. And many are abundant and cheap second hand these days. Maybe we’ll see something new for an anniversary year at some point. One can always hope :-)

    Macross figures

Most likely a lack of demand or market for them. OG fans are far out numbered by those of subsequent entries into the series in Japan and since manufacturers are legally not allowed to manufacture for or market to overseas markets thanks to they who shall not be named, it makes sense that they’d double down on what’s more likely to sell domestically.
  11. Coming this October - Shōji Kawamori’s Macross Designer’s Note. Price: 7480yen Size: 608pages (!) Release date: Oct. 22. https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4797397187/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=河森正治&qid=1594127519&sr=8-2

  15. While full details have yet to be announced, the official Satelight (the studio behind Macross for the last 2 decades) website has been updated to show that their business partnership with Pachinko giant Sankyo has been dissolved. Whether or not this will have any bearing on the Macross franchise’s future is unknown. Sankyo has had investments in Satelight since 2006 and created pachinko and Pachislot games for Macross Delta, Macross Frontier (x3!) and the original SDFM (including the notorious re-animated footage in 2009). https://www.anime-recorder.com/4521/158188/
  16. There’s normally 4 positions, often with multiple cameras. -in the wings of the stage -on a track that runs the length of the front of the stage. -on camera booms above or around the stage. -at the back of the hall (telescopic zoom). There’s also sometimes smaller camera at the back of the stage, near the drummer, etc. The ones in the wings film at angles to keep each other out of the shot. The one on the track is sometimes visible in boom shots. The booms are sometimes visible in telescopic shots. (it’s like camera Rock Paper Scissors lol)
  17. ‪Walkure’s latest single has topped the weekly Billboard sales chart in Japan, with 22,206 physical copies sold in its first week :-) http://www.billboard-japan.com/d_news/detail/88603/2
  18. Walkure’s latest single “The Future is for Women” is currently ranked No.1 seller on Amazon Japan. Neither Walkure nor Macross are stopping anytime soon :-) (a certain Makina superfan and SpeakerPODcast contributor can also be heard during one of the tracks if you know where to listen;-)
  19. Fortunately enough time has passed that prices on Delta discs has dropped considerably - look on the Japanese second hand market and they can be even more affordable with a bit of hunting :-)
  20. Regardless of what the listing may say, I’ve tested Delta discs in Region B players and they worked fine, so it may be a case of the listing just ticking off the necessary boxes.
  21. Since they unveiled a preliminary valk sketch last October, have an tie-in image single dropping this month, and it’s been mentioned on the Speakerpodcast how production is progressing, I’m not too sure where you’d get that impression from. Fortunately, it’s still happening :-)
  22. You’ll be happy to know then that a second movie has been announced and is indeed currently being worked on :-)
  23. This episode, Save walks us through the experience of bringing legendary character designer/animator/illustrator Tomonori Kogawa to a US con for the first time. We also have all the latest Macross news as well as a little bit of speculation on where the new movie is at. https://www.decultureshock.com/speakerpodcast-ep-136-tomonori-kogawa-anime-los-angeles/
  24. Well Kawamori did say on television just a little under a year ago that he had concept for a Macross 7 sequel that he was interested in doing. Which would make sense given how Basara is the 2nd most popular character in the entire franchise. Will he actually do it though? Personally, I doubt it. But the hope that Fire Bomber will return to our screens one day springs eternal :-)
