  1. Just to add on to a few more thank yous in addition to KiriK's list. Dennis (jet660) - Thanks for volunteering with the registration table. You really helped to relieve some of the other guys from having to be there 100% of the time. Rohby for making the exclusive. Although we don't have them in hand yet it looks awesome. Jerry (vf1x) for making an appearance and for starting MWcon in the first place back in 2001 And to reiterate, all the attendees both board members and not for making it our biggest MWcon ever and without their generous donations wouldn't have made it possible. Oh and thanks again to KiriK for being the driving force behind the planning.
  2. The reason there is no originality in Hollywood is because studios aren't making as much in home entertainment sales to help make up for a lackluster box office performance so Hollywood sees it as a sign that they need to make most if not all of their money in the theaters. And they think the best way to get people into theaters is using properties that people already know and love whether it be from a comic book, sequel, or remake. I have barely seen marketing on Cloud Atlas but WB did a great job marketing The Matrix and when i saw that in theaters I had no idea what the premise was. That was refreshing because most marketing campaigns give everything away nowadays. So I'm assuming there's a lot more to Cloud Atlas than I'm seeing from the marketing and from what the guy says in the article. I certainly didn't know that non-Koreans were playing Koreans.
  3. Hey guys, what kind of vendors are you guys interested in? We are talking to a few different vendors but I'd like to pose the question to you guys to see what you'd like. We might have an anime bookstore.
  4. I thought they weren't patentable. That's the last thing I remember. I think S_i_t_h_l_o_r_d or someone originally did the group buys on the stands. So just to clarify the black rubber tips are okay but the newer clear tips strip the paint?
  5. Holy crap! That bag you guys are talking about looks huge. In that amazon listing some guy posted pics of everything he carries in it including his laptop, keyboard, and a 19" monitor plus cables and accessories. I might pull the trigger on it because I often travel with my personal and work laptops.
  6. Pretty sure the ones in those auctions are much smaller than the CMs Macross figures. I think those frontier figs are closer in size to the CMs Mospeada figs but I'm not sure if they are the exact same size.
  7. Wow, the parts that Loop got are horrible. I don't even see how you can sell those with any pride of workmanship. In comparison, Exo's recaster does great work and I have a set from EternalD's original run. The sculpt is great and looks much better than the chicken hands.
  8. I saw it last Friday and I fell asleep during it so I probably missed some big plot points but I enjoyed it. Yeah it reminds me of a lot of other movies but there were enough bad ass Kate Beckinsale moments to save it for me. If nothing else it was a pretty movie.
  9. We're still waiting on confirmation no the space but if it goes through there are plenty of places around to get food and snacks.
  10. I'm pretty sure we're going with Sept 8th but like Kirik said we are finalizing the date. It's a private location so we won't have the same restrictions as we did with the UCLA location so we should have vendors or at least vendors selling their stuff. We were talking about having a meet up on Saturday for locals and out of towners to go to Frank and Sons. If anyone wants to volunteer to head that up that would be great. Otherwise there isnt' anything really official...yet.
  11. It definitely was a great time. I have to admit that I was a little worried but May'n really rocked the house and got really into it. In typical LA fashion a lot of people were late to the concert and I almost felt bad that there weren't more people there but by the end it was a packed house. Also, the smaller crowd at the beginning didn't affect her at all and she gave a solid performance the whole time. It was pretty funny during one song, showing our love, throwing it, and then being pretty. And yeah, I will take 100% of the credit for the encore...granted it was totally pre-meditated....but I will take the credit.
  12. I had an order in and they cut my order from 5 to 3 so it's across the board that Yamato is cutting orders it seems.
  13. Maybe we can try doing the Cannon Fodder picture like I suggested last year.
  14. Why can't he just upload it to the LEGO website so that people can buy the model. Do they still offer that service?
  15. I haven't picked up a comic book in forever but my favorites from when I did read them: Jim Lee Whilce Portacio Adam Hughes Bruce Timm Marc Silvestri (as long as Dan Green isn't inking him)
  16. That Robocop is pretty and I'm not even a Robocop fan. If anyone is interested I'm probably going to have a little group buy for them. Top end of the price will probably be $40 but hopefully cheaper.
  17. Wow, all these posts and no one has corrected him yet? Okay I'll do it. Mylene played bass. Ray had the keyboard. Sorry. Had to do it. But yeah seems like a fun collectible to have.
  18. You know they have a whole industry where people like that are in superhero movies. What's the point of casting them in mainstream movies?
  19. I'm going to say no. It looks like a modified DYRL paint scheme and I'm kind of sick of it. So no I wouldn't buy it, I'd rather see Yamato work on something else. Of course it if got made and ended up on sale at HLJ....well....that's another story.
