  1. Hi all, Thought this might be an interesting resource for people painting FAST packs, boosters, etc. It's a picture posted on GIZMODO showing the insides of the Space Shuttle engine nozzles. Good color and texture reference. There is a BIG version linked in the article here: http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2010/04/a-rare-l...es/#more-391710
  2. Great idea and really good job executing it. The art work is fantastic! Can't wait to see it printed and assembled.
  3. Well, the updated Strike picture would be nice to see for a start. Not all of us are familiar with all of his work. I've seen all the Hasegawa VF-1 pics and some other game and M+ stuff but a lot I've not seen. Some of the ones on the site have thumbnails but can't be viewed for some reason. I'm just interested too in seeing how it is presented, how much text there is, how many pictures are there all up. I'm not as interested in scans as simply a review of the book showing some content.
  4. Damn, those prototypes look NICE! One problem with the alpha style one is the boosters are where the hands should come out. Unless they change the transformation around that thing is gonna have trouble holding a gun pod.
  5. If people have this book can't we at least get some damn photos if not more scans? C'mon, show us what this baby is made of! At 136 pages I would have thought there would be some more content here already.
  6. Niiiice! In a dark color it doesn't look quite as bulky which is great! I was actually thinking of doing the same thing the other day but haven't had time. Veterans from the old forums may recall this image I photoshopped back in the day when we first saw the prototype 1/60 sculpt. Old skool.
  7. Lol! I hope they do give you the option.
  8. I can't see the nosecone, there appears to be a piece of GBP in the way. Anyways, this looks most excellent. I can't wait to nab mine, packaged with a VF-1J. Looks like they decided against the "remove the nose cone" option but I wonder if they will make that nose cone cover removeable so you can chose to go with our without nose cone. The whole armor suit is fracking HUGE. It has to be though since the line art was so slim it left no real room for a valk inside. The chest area shows this most readily. Looking good though. I can't wait to pick a set up!
  9. These are not part of the Artist Series. The Artist Series is where famous musicians, actors, etc. are invited to put their own spin on a shoe. I think they have stopped this now as there have not been any for a year or more. Each release was two or three shoes. Some of the Artist Series shoes were: Air Max Burst by Eminem Air Presto by Sarah Jessica Parker Dunk High by N.E.R.D. Air Max CB by Nelly The Shimizu Dunk Highs are part of the SB (SkateBoard) range. SB Dunks are produced in much lower numbers than most Nike's but not as limited as the artist series. They are only sold in a limited number of skate stores. They release new ones every few months and they are usually snapped up pretty quickly although the hype has died off a bit over the last year. Sometimes they invite artists to design colorways for SB Dunks (Futura Dunk Low) and often the sponsored riders design them, as in this case with Daniel Shimizu. Collaborations have also been done with skate and sneaker stores (Supreme Dunk High and Low, Huf Dunk High) and designs have included a number of unofficial salutes to various things (Heinieken Dunk Low, Jedi Dunk Low). Being SB Dunks, these unofficial Macross inspired dunks will be a little hard to find and probably start at $150USD on eBay and internet stores. I ahven't been keeping up with the market lately though. Here are some spots to start looking for these if you are keen on a pair: InStyleShoes.com in America They have a forum there but I don't visit much. RareAirShoes.com in Australia Niketalk.com for information. Look in the Retro Forum. You can't post here until you register and are accepted but you can read. They cut back on automatically letting people post due to the number of annoying n00bs. This is the number one place for Nike info. To view pics of all SB Dunks visit NikeSkateBoarding.com.
  10. That guy needs to take a long hard look at himself...
  11. Hi all, Veterans may remeber me from mainly 2000/2001 when I used to post a LOT on the old forums. Once they started re-issuing old Air Jordans it was game over as far as where I spent my time. NikeTalk.com wins. I still come here to check out what is happening. No CF 1/48 from Yamato makes me sad. Anyway, I thought I'd post and ask the Nanashi staff, how come the site isn't browsable? Can you get it up and just add stuff as you complete it? It's been ages and so far I've only really seen a handful of pages via direct links. When there was a menu most of it didn't work. Right now if I go there there is just the Sugarfoot pic. Also, I don't know about others but I find the monthly email to remind me I'm on the mailing list a little strange. No other site I'm a subscribed to does this. It's just junk IMO. It seems doubly pointless when the website is in effect dead due to there being zero fucntionality and almost zero content. Sorry if I sound negative, I'm really just frustrated that I can't look at some of the cool stuff you guys have. Anyway, hope things are progressing well and I look forward to updates. Peace,
  12. ^You have to take the legs off a 1/60 Yamato too. ^^It should not come as a surprise that toys and models of the same Valkyrie at similar scales should end up looking similar.
  13. Why do people always want to go back to die cast? Paint chipping and reduced poseability due to floppy or overly weighted parts is not my idea of a good toy. I'm so glad the 1/48 valks have no die cast. They are so much better for it. I think he means to reinforce the parts that are the most vulnerable. I'm not a big fan of diecast either, but the idea of using diecast on landing gears and T-bars on the 1/48 was excellent. They are the most vulnerable parts of the toy, and we would easily be hearing complaints about it if they were made in the standard ABS plastic. Reinforcement with metal might be a good idea but that does not necessarily mean die-cast. As you say, things like landing gear are a good application. But is there any question that the use there will continue? I don't think so. The reality is, and I'm not specifically referring to Eternal_D here, that people have a tendency to invoke the word die-cast as if its some alchemist's secret for toy gold. I've often heard people lamenting the loss of extensive die-cast content in toys for parts like the Yamato 1/60's legs. As the 1/48 shows, ABS is a much superior solution in terms of aesthetics, functionality and longevity. I haven't had any problems with my ABS toys. The only thing I've broken on a Yamato toy was a shoulder slider on the first YF-22 and that was not made from ABS. So, basically, I'm just against the use of die-cast for major moldings.
