  1. I’m with @pengbuzz on this. I mean, all I can fairly critique is what I’ve seen from Kasdan’s body of work. No, I didn’t see Dawson’s Creek. It wasn’t what I was into years ago when it was broadcast. I did see Solo. And with Kasdan’s SW attempt, I did my best to look at it without blanketing it in the doubts I had after watching Johnson’s TLJ. In that respect, it was all right. Not franchise-changing but all right. I think season 1 of Willow was all right too. The anachronisms with the film are certainly worth pointing out: the language, the music, randomly breaking character. Otherwise, I wish there had been more exposition around the Crone and how her essence survived the events of the first film. The Wyrm…What can I say? The final reveal was silly. It could have been kept a mysterious disembodied thing or some dark dragon lurking in the background. Instead we get a mismatched monster left by some rogue Bene Gesserit. The in-universe fan service and easter eggs could use some work too. But this is more of a general comment about all the shows I’ve seen recently. I hope the industry turns to more grounded nods instead of all the fluff service. IMO, it feels better when these events lift the main story and carry it forward. Oh well. But even with my criticisms, I can still find things that I enjoy. I liked the pull Kit had to find her father Madmartigan. I wish Kilmer had been well enough for them to develop that side quest. I liked seeing an older, somewhat wiser Willow. I wish we had seen more of his daughter and his apprentice. It would have been cool if those two had joined the party. Seeing Elora’s journey was fun too, even though there are parts still left untold.
  2. I hope Kasdan gets to do more with the franchise, personally. And I don’t mind waiting if, like @Thom notes above, it means we get a much stronger second act. Avoiding the MCU-style churn might be a good thing for Willow.
  3. Reviews can become an echo chamber, though, if one isn’t careful. This is why I like giving shows a chance of a few episodes myself in spite of what the reviews say. I agree about how there is more of a built-in dependency on larger budgets. All it takes is for a contract negotiation to go sideways to cause good streaming shows to die on the vine too. Three Pines falls into this category. Amazon reportedly said the show had the viewer numbers but the second-season budget fell apart when it came time to extend it. I expect to see more of these shenanigans as well.
  4. We’ll have to agree to disagree on this point since most streaming data is held in confidence. I would say they’re cancelling shows that don’t perform better or on par with shows like Stranger Things or Cobra Kai. There’s no room for risk or creativity. Comparing streaming to network television…man…it was supposed to be different. This I can agree with. Big franchises have built-in audiences and there’s less risk to bring these to screen. However, then the audience gets bored by the repetitive content. Rock meet hard place.
  5. That stinks. I enjoyed the first season. I guess Disney+ gets to join Netflix and Amazon in the burn your audience tier of buffoonery. If I had HBO Max, I would have more choice words… Favorites of mine that ended too early: The OA (Netflix), The Dark Crystal (Netflix), The Tick (Amazon), Paper Girls (Amazon), and Three Pines (Amazon) — all got the axe too early. Some decent shows with shoehorned endings like Willow: Warrior Nun, Stargirl, Carnival Row. *sigh* Oh well.
  6. I’m the opposite. It feels like I’m out of almost all third-party lines except Legends these days. The size makes it easy to collect the bots I want and even some bots I would skip at the larger scales, like combiners. MMC’s current fondness for MP-scale combiners, means I’ll buy less and appreciate more of their pictures from afar. I just don’t have the space for anything larger than an MP Magnus or Skyfire. Speaking of which, X-Transbots did pique my interest with their new Ultra Magnus, but it’s hard to buy in because of my experiences with XTB releases in the past. I’m still looking at reviews and mulling it over. But that’s the only 3P MP-scale bot on my radar right now.
  7. Oh! That sold out faster on Arcadia’s site than I expected it to. Cool. Hopefully, the shops that list the premium finish YF-19 are in the same range price-wise.
  8. Gotcha. The gist is that Arcadia seems to have removed the deposit from the new order page. Not a bad thing for those placing their orders now.
  9. The small number is the deposit for the original 2021 reservations and the other number is the actual balance. My fromjapan order went through on Friday for 42680JPY. That’s 38412+4268. I forgot to cancel my old order. Oh well. I think anyone purchasing this today should be able to avoid the 4268 charge and save about $30US, if I’m reading things correctly.
  10. Indeed. The Alien homage was strong with this one, although if I’m being honest it is another sci-fi trope in a season that is relying a lot on tropes to drive its loosely connected stories. I mean, the episode was okay but it will be interesting to see if what happened to the creature or the villagers actually matters. The pieces we do get are related to intelligence gathering among the clone regulars who broke their programming and Omega’s plot. These have been slowly developing since the first season, and I’m still waiting for the proverbial other shoe to drop.
  11. FYI: I noticed this message was added to the Galactic Toys VF-0D page: “Action Figure is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.“ I’m thinking an early run of 0D pre-orders has been sold through. That’s pretty cool to see here.
  12. Galactic’s price is hard to beat if one is just shopping around. I like that they have a cool points benefit similar to The Chosen Prime where you can turn points into coupons—useful for Macross items. I wish more stores did that here. For the 0D up my way, Galactic is asking $150.37 (UPS) or $152.37 (USPS priority) with taxes included and without the coupon benefit. Not bad at all. The Rightstuf membership discount doesn’t get the price as low as Galactic. I can get the total down to $165.52 with lower shipping and my local tax rate but that’s it. That price is so-so I guess but there are other caveats I forgot to mention in my original message: One needs to be careful about the store’s ‘opt-in’ insurance. That can save $1 to $3 if you don’t want it. Rightstuf also tends to get items last. I experienced this myself with Tenjin’s artbook. So, yeah, with Rightstuf having new Sony/Crunchyroll management, a few things have changed with regard to their customer service. Just be aware if you use them for these higher priced items…
  13. Thanks for those links, @MikeRoz! I checked the 0D page on Rightstuf and their GotAnime discount works on this too, so that knocks another $3 off the total before shipping.
  14. I could be wrong, but I think the Japanese Tamashii shop works differently than the others? For the US, limited Tamashii exclusives are usually listed on our p-bandai site. General releases, like the 0D, are sold at other US shops and are easier to find, as noted by @Sanity is Optional. Some of the stores are listed here, by region: https://tamashiiweb.com/en/shop/?wovn=en
  15. You know what would be cool? If someone had decided to release the ‘safe’ Macross series on streaming and physical disk. If only someone had put that plan in motion…Let the shows spark interest overseas outside of Japan and our niche fanbase… Nah, who am I kidding?
  16. I expect Sony’s purchase of Crunchyroll has delayed things—and for more releases than just SB Yamato. Sony is consolidating everything under the Crunchyroll brand. Here’s an ANN link with more info: https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/feature/2022-03-11/what-we-know-about-the-funimation-crunchyroll-merger/.183405
  17. True. The CF 1A’s camera “eye” isn’t the right color either and changing it from green to red is way outside of my meager ability. But I would be keen to see the HMR 1A head attached to a t.h.i.c. neck piece just to compare it to the artwork in person.
  18. I prefer the first comparison. I think using the diminutive HMR head piece would make the Orgroid look like a massive armor upgrade for the CF guys.
  19. *nods* I was seeing the same wild prices. A similar thing happens over on the UK Amazon site for pop-culture items like Doctor Who. I’m just not sure if it is scalpers getting in the way or if it’s an Amazon policy to help domestic buyers get first dibs on these popular items. Probably a little bit of both — lol.
  20. What @no3Ljm said. And AJ might still put up some ‘sold and shipped’ from amazon.co.jp orders.
  21. Did Amazon Japan even list their own pre-orders for the 0D? Anyone know? I saw the page and it went from unavailable to orders from third-party sellers only. Now I’m a little curious what Amazon’s actual price was. LoL!
  22. I got my two orders in. One at HLJ and the other at AE. It looks like the pre-orders for Kei’s Orguss and Shin’s 0D might already sold out at cdjapan and hobbysearch.
