  1. i love my 1/48's. i don't play with my toys (much) but i do transform at least one a day to keep my display fresh (and because if i didn't want to transform them, i would have bought models). with the exception of the vf-0a's cracked shoulders (which i repaired with heaps of superglue), all of my other yamato toys have been problem free (though some required very minor mods). my monster, yf-21 and all of the 1/48's are amazing. the only reason i bought 1/60's was for the super o and elint (which i will gladly trade in if a 1/48 version ever comes out). the 1/60's look great in fighter & gerwalk (cruiser style), but i get no enjoyment out of the transformation or playing with them as they are too finicky. i think yamato is doing a fine job and expect them to get nothing but better as time goes on. i think the sub-industry yamato and the macross franchise has spawned is part of what makes this such a fun hobby. endless ideas and parts availability enable you to make your toys more individualized as well as keep them from getting stale. i don't mind paying good money for a product that i will ultimately be happy with, even if it requires an extra 10 or 20 dollars in "fan parts" to make it the best it can be. when i look at my hikaru with fp's, i don't feel contempt for yamato that i had to pop some magnets inside to keep the arms up, i feel a sense of accomplishment that i had a part in making the toy what it is. yamato's macross toys surpass bandai, takatoku, toynami and anyone else's toys stylistically and as long as you are easy on them, durability is (almost) a non-issue. the cost is justified (in my opinion). if you sweat about spending $150 on a toy, chances are that $150 could be used for something more worthwhile in your life (savings accounts or ira's). if you're nervous about a first release, wait to buy it. i had fair warning on all of my toys in every regard simply because i spent countless hours reading and researching before purchasing (thanks to graham, mw forums and jenius <3)....and i'm spent.
  2. the blue looks awesome, reminds me of a hat i just bought for my brother. it would be too sweet if the mlb was replaced with unspacy.
  3. awesome. i've wanted to check out this book for awhile now, but all of my funds are tied up in valks this year. i'm definitely getting this come january. thanks for sharing!
  4. i finally put my shelves up over the weekend so my collection could be displayed all proper-like. ridiculous how many i have, considering i bought my first in January. my girlfriend just laughs. she likes it..but would rather have it in a game room (it's in the living room of our apartment.) anyhow, hope you guys enjoy... do you remember love? sdf tv ode to max zero, plus, and the 1/100's roy and hikaru
  5. any chance of selling those? i know there are a lot of people that need them. i would buy some just in case. thanks!
  6. what would a completed (paint & all) 1/72 kit cost? how about a 1/48? i can't model to save my life, but i would pay out the arse for something that awesome.
  7. mine was crashing & getting glitchy during replies a few weeks back, but now that i'm on 2.0.0.3, it seems to be working fine
  8. yamato 1/48 hikaru vf-1s...still one of my favorites
  9. the gunpod and the tabs under the cockpit are the only areas of concern. both have very easy fixes (even for a non-modeler, myself included). i transform mine 2 -3 times a day and have had no issues. i'll post pics in a few minutes. it has become my favorite yamato toy. the fighter mode is very solid and the battroid mode has so many posing possibilities, it never gets old. i've had mine for about a month now with no issues. i recommend getting a flexi-display (www.laftoys.com) if you really want to have fun with poses. Remember to be gentle and move slow and you will have no problems [attachmentid=41521] when you open the panel below the cockpit, unscrew the two scews holding in the grey plastic pieces and remove them both (pieces & screws) [attachmentid=41522] file down the two tan tabs at an angle. i cut quite a bit off mine with a pocket knife. just a little bit at a time. use the step below before re-attaching the grey pieces until it does not feel too pressured [attachmentid=41523] any time you unhook the cockpit, squeeze the grey pieces with your thumb to give it added support. always pull up, then pull toward you to unhook the tab on the top of the neck. my #2 arrow is pointing wrong (sorry) [attachmentid=41524] [attachmentid=41525] remember to give it support when putting it back too! hope that helps
  10. a macross credit card would be sweet if it was a rewards style card. every time you use it, you earn points toward exclusive macross items and if you use the card to buy mac merch, it doubles the points.
  11. was the black valk released by yamato, or is it a custom? this is the first time i've seen or heard of it. and why is it called a credit card valk?
  12. it's definitely top notch on the 1/48's without FP's. i realized that the valk style and color determine it's best mode. for instance, i only like the angel bird in fighter and the 1S head is so awesome it almost demands battroid.

  14. jenius' review of the 1/60 TRU CF 1/60 Regular CF vs 1/60 TRU Exclusive CF
  15. shweet . i'm so stoked i resisted paying arse raping prices for these. thanks yamato!
  16. that's scary. i really hope the don't waste money releasing those schemes. if that comes out before a tv max 1A, i will be nothing short of perplexed.
  17. are there any pics of the supernova orange colorscheme? i tried a search and came up with nothing. thanks
  18. i can do blue one easily and i can do a white one easily. if you're asking for a blue one with white logos or vice versa, that might take me a while to figure out. post a sample of what color blue you would like and i'll make it happen. thanks!
  19. a desktop i made sunday morning. it's pretty busy, but doesn't distract from your icons. someone should make macross icons for mac. how awesome would that be. [attachmentid=41340] enjoy
  20. damn..i don't know why i didn't check your site first. i love your reviews and pictures. thanks!
  21. i would like to get a valk to go with the original GBP armor and i was considering an angel bird. how closely do the colors match? i love the angel paint scheme in fighter, but hate it in battroid. i like the other valks' paint too much to cover them with armor, so an angel bird with armor seems like a great match. thanks!
  22. i would like to get a macross book, but i'm really clueless on which one. i would like a coffee table book... something with lots of pictures that's fun to look through when i'm killing time, waiting for my gf to get ready, etc. i cannot read japanese, so interviews and dialogs are unimportant. thanks
  23. what book are those pictures from. the third one is awesome thanks!
  24. not only did that help, i now know what aft means. i love this toy. way more finicky than the 1/48's but much cheaper than the bandai original. i really wish they would come out with a 1/48 super o though. is it weird that staring at the toy makes me want to eat orange vanilla swirl ice cream while watching dyrl? thanks again!
