  1. Nice photo gallery Kamadoma :-) As for the "improved crotch" ...what's the improvement? Pete
  2. There are a handful of Macross fans, not many collectors though. As for Polish girls - I'm biased in their favor :-) Particularly with regard to one girl :-) As for the 1D - can those of you who have it in hand confirm what I've read in other threads that it is indeed QC-shoulder problem free? Sorry for the paranoia, but I still have dire visions of being heartbroken when it turns out my 1D is shoulder-broken... the problem is 100% fixed yes? And if so - sorry if it was written in another thread, but can anyone explain how they fixed it? :-) Pete
  3. Dag. That Powermaster Optimus Prime rendition is just awesome....but I haven't seen that anywhere for sale...or for pre-order...although I shudder to think how much all of that would cost! Pete
  4. Poland - the only country in the EU that has not had a recession...though growth has slowed pretty dramatically...still...technically no recession :-) Pete
  5. Not to de-rail the thread - but yeah...I actually have looked at the third party stuff and it looks like the perfect answer to all my prayers...but soooo damn expensive...still certainly very very cool :-) Pete
  6. So...other than re-building a Turn-A-Gundam MG kit (my old one had a messed up panel lining job), I've gone and jumped into HGUC - starting with the Psycho Gundam, the O, a GM Space Commander and the Mass Production Guncannon :-) And to think I was initially considering buying some Transformers to restart my TF collection.... Pictures/reviews when the stuff is ready... Pete
  7. You guys wanna know what the sad thing about this thread is? The sad thing about this thread is that in the year 2012, in a thread titled "Models in conjunction with world events" - we get models of what amounts to a shack where some psychotic dude lived. Meanwhile, our Gundam and Macross models are considered "childs play." So much for the year 2012... There was a time when things were COMPLETELY THE OTHER WAY AROUND: It just breaks my heart to think that rather than living in an O'Niel cylinder and riding around in Gundams - "world events" are so...well...uninspiring. Pete
  8. Well don't I feel lucky :-) Mine should finally be in hand this coming Teusday/Weds. :-) Also got one for a fellow MWorld member... I had no problems with my supplier filling pre-orders, but generally speaking it is true that there is radically LESS of everything now and subsequently the prices, while high anyways due to the exchange rates, go much much higher later due to lack of supply... Sadly, the demand is so limited that it doesn't look like supply will be boosted any time soon. This has little, I think, to do with demand for Macross or anime in general falling off - and more to do with lackluster consumer spending in the entire global economy. And I live in the only country in Europe that still ISN'T in recession - but the growth rate sucks... Pete
  9. Now that is music to my ears - although perhaps not to my wallet :-) Thanks Pete
  10. Err...so...the shoulder issue hasn't gone away? I'm just hoping that since obviously these special parts VFs will be a new production run - so too all of the shoulders will be QC problem free.... Pete
  11. Naturally I'm getting the 1D with Minmey and chairs. The 1S and 1J look fantastic - but my Hi Metal Bandai versions will have to do. I'm more interested in finally getting my hands on a VF-11C or something of that sort anyways :-)... but...yeah...looks like I'll be getting something in the 1/60 scale back on my shelf after all :-) I just HOPE TO GOD THAT THE DAMN SHOULDER PANELS ARE FIXED! FIXED! FIXED!! Pete
  12. Sweet pics :-) Thanks for the inspiration. That 3rd party Kickback variant looks awesome... And good to see the O. When I build mine, I have the feeling I will want to slap a lot of unused decals from other Gundams on it - lots of little 'caution' and 'warning' signs and stuff like that... but we'll see.. It's just so massive and the colors seem so bland that it's a prime candidate for "Katokiaization" ... Pete
  13. I just did some of the decal work but I kept it pretty moderate. I agree that the white Unicorn looks best :-) Will post pics or something as soon as I make them...next up is the O... I've also got a Rezel I'd like to build, although I'm somewhat bummed he lacks wings like the Commander Type...but then again....I'm obviously being pulled down by gravity if I think the Wave Rider needs wings :-) Pete
  14. Yeah...I guess I can understand that... Anyways...Unicorn's done :-) Now I just have to sleep on a dilema? Should I keep him nice and white or decal him up?? :-) Pete
  15. Wow...this topic is really dead... Anyways... I'm building the MG Unicorn OVA version. I really like the fact that the inner frame (not psycho frame) colors are more metalic looking and not the strange ugly blue colors. The improved head sculpt is nice...though it wasn't a big "must" for me. I mainly got this for the re-sculpted leg armor allowing for better posseability. So far, this is how much I've built...planning on building the legs tonight :-) Pete
  16. Here's the first chapter of my Haruhi Suzumiya fanfiction "The Aimless Wanderings of Haruhi Suzumiya." This is a text story illustrated with still photography featuring my Figma figures (and a couple of surprises): http://www.dyrl.pl/detale.html?id=1312 Enjoy! Pete

    HI METAL LOVE THREAD

Ok - this is true... looking at the above pictures... but...how many times did the VF-19Kai in the anime actually confirm to that line art? That's where things get tricky :-) Pete

    HI METAL LOVE THREAD

Dag. I must not be very technical-minded, because while I don't dispute your observations - I must admit that I simply do not really notice those differences at first, second or even seventieth glance. I guess I just don't look for stuff like that... On the one hand, I do want something that reflects the animation model - obvious the DYRL model in general, since the SDFM TV one is more often than not innaccurate with reference to itself... Having said that, I guess I don't really pay that much attention to exactly what the CAD/animation model in general looks like. Or..at least I don't think too much about it... For me, the main benefit of the HI METAL is that they are not any worse than the 1/60s - and you can put them side by side with Mastergrade Gundams. After years of playing with Transformers that were frustratingly incompatible with one another due to scale issues (or rather...lack of scale issues)... it is simply refreshing to have things to scale with one another :-) Pete
  19. Guess nobobody's a fan of the O around here... Anyways - finished my MK-II AEUG Happy with this fella :-) And here's a nicer picture of my Zeta in wingrider mode...really love this mecha...

    HI METAL LOVE THREAD

Yeah - I agree about the intakes...and the landing gear for that matter... but in the 1/100 scale I'm not ure if anything else was possible. I mean, this is one of the reasons why 1/60 is such a good scale for variable mecha. 1/72 is great for airplanes/details - but if it has to transform (the MF models notwithstanding) - 1/60 is better. The 1/48s were amazing when they hit the market...but I think that had less to do with the scale and more to do with how utterly bad the version 1 1/60 stuff was... That said...why oh why did the HI METAL line die? I don't understand why it didn't do as financially well...if that's even the reason? Pete
  21. I'm not going to be too original here when I say that most recently I watched the first 5 or 6 episodes of ZETA Gundam. I saw the Movie Trilogy and was not satisfied - so I decided to check out the series. As an aside - how many of you have seen One Piece and is it any good? Looking it at, I get a Gurren Lagann vibe - but I also get a dorkishness vibe.... Haven't seen anything of it - so...what do you guys think? Worth it? Pete
  22. How many of you built PMX-003 THE-O? (MG) I've got one on the way and am wondering whether to sell it or build it? On the one hand, it's big and generally well designed - but on the other hand it looks kind of bland and doesn't do a whole lot? Can people post pics of their Os to help me make up my mind? Pete

    HI METAL LOVE THREAD

Just to be precise - only four of those were availabe for wider distribution - the rest were web specials, right? I mean, only Hikaru's VF-1J, Roy's VF-1S, and the two Macross 7 valks were widely and regularly available... Personally - I don't see the point in comparing them to Yamato all that much. In general, the Hi Metal VF-1s are indeed superior in engineering and quality. I mean let me count the ways: 1. No cracking shoulder joint 2. In fact, no risky shoulder transformation - because of the ingenious sliding joint - that is REALLY good engineering... That said - the Yammies are good as they are too. Yamato has made a far wider range of Valkyrie from Macross - most of them have superior design and good quality. The main advantage of the 1/100 - for me - is the scale. It works with MG Gundams...although Yammies work with PG...so...I guess it's a matter of whatever floats your boat :-) Too bad the HI Metal line was discontinued. And - UBER too bad that the VF100 VF-25s sucked so bad...it would actually have made sense for the next HI METALS to be VF-25s...why that didn't happen...beats me.

    HI METAL LOVE THREAD

Ok...but...how do I post pics?? :-) I figured out the "Attach thumbnail function"..... Ok...Ok...cool...now I answered my own question. My thoughts about the HI METAL are mostly recorded in my review of the VF-1J here: http://dyrl.pl/detale.html?id=994 and the VF-19Kai here: http://dyrl.pl/detale.html?id=967 I would love to get the VF-1A exclusives but haven't really had time to put the effort into it. The VF-19s don't bother me a bit. For the size/scale - they're fine and dandy. Certainly more poseable than Yamato's 1/60 YF-19 - though I am not bashing Yamato here...the YF-19 was a mega superb achievement for its time. Pete
