To anybody who wants to give them a try, EA has released Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert, and Tiberian Sun as freeware downloads at http://www.commandandconquer.com/classic. I don't know how well they work with Windows 7 or Windows XP, but I know I'm going to spend the holidays finding out.

I know; I was commenting on the looks of the plastic model, comparing it to the other versions of the VF-19 and the sketch it was based on. The design of the VF-19E itself, as shown on the sketch, is fine. I wish someone else would give it a try and make a more accurate representation.

Am I the only one who thinks that the model of the Caliburn looks quite... ugly? With the cut down canards, chubby wings and shortened rudders it loses the lines of the aerodynamic YF-19, but it still has too much canards and wings, and too little LERXs and rudders, to be as streamlined as the VF-19F. The sketch looks way better.

I guess the only practical application for this would be as a "superchaff" in waaay Beyond Visual Range combat, when you're damn sure you're out of range of infrared missiles. Even that's debatable, because if the limiting factor for IR missiles is the sensor and not the fuel load, then you're screwed anyway. It would be fun to see a Sidewinder trying to play whac-a-mole with a whole squadron turning those things on and off randomly, though. On the other hand, more info on the Qantas A380. That 380 had the spirit of a Flying Fortress.

Trivia time: Emma Stone is actually blonde. She dyed her hair for Superbad, and has been running with it ever since. And she can play the modest part good enough, she did it in The House Bunny. Which leads us to the interesting situation of having an actress that could do both MJ and Gwen at the same time. ... damn, I wish they could cast her for both parts.

Then again, the fact that your temperature is quite a bit higher than the background 3 kelvins (-270 degrees Celsius, -454 Fahrenheit) by the mere fact of existing means that you'll light up like a supernova in any infrared camera. Might as well start emitting away.

Nah. I'm not particularly interested in buying the prequels again. The Original Trilogy, if I cannot have the original versions in HD, I'll stick to Adywan's Revisitations.

They are not finishing it. Imagi is closing offices (Imagi LA is gone already) and has cut down pretty much all personnel that is not necessary to liquidate its assets and auction all the stuff they can.

She's the first person I've ever heard saying c*nt in a mainstream movie, and looks downright menacing while doing it. If she's gonna be annoying, she's probably gonna be the Jay and Silent Bob kind of annoying. That said, if you watch both the green and red band trailers, it looks like if they were showing two totally different movies. Good thing I'd want to watch them both.

I'm watching this, for the exact same reasons I watched Snakes on a Plane.

You know, actually I liked the trailer because it doesn't really feel like a remake of Karate Kid in the same way that Battlestar Galactica didn't feel like an old Galactica remake. Somebody took the same basic idea, ran with it, and got something different but similar from it, only that they couldn't totally separate it from the original without being called a rip-off or due to legal action. Whether it will be good or bad, who knows, but at least it's not a straight up remake. Hell, and someone who knows better legalese culture correct me if I'm wrong, maybe they cannot legally call it something other than 'Karate Kid' because of the original story licencing issues and that's why they're running with it when calling the movie 'Kung Fu Kid' or so makes so much more sense, both on the thematic and marketing departments. Maybe even more sense in the marketing department due to the success of 'Kung Fu Panda' - when was the last time you heard 'Karate' attached to something catchy and awesome in the mass media? I do hope that when it hits China it will get properly renamed. Otherwise, Columbia Pictures can kiss its web assets goodbye.

That IS my favourite line in the entire series. It also makes me think how can it be that somebody so damn sure about some things can be so terribly lost about other things. Or viceversa.

If it's Priscilla Chen's, it's Cantonese. , Kěyǒu jìqǐ aì (romanized in Mandarin Pinyin, I have no idea how to pronounce the name in Cantonese). I wonder if there is a Mandarin version somewhere.

I don't remember if it was here or in another forum, but I remember reading a discussion about the design of the Basestar and that it was tremendously successful on its role. Basically, the whole Cylon war machine for their vengeance war was engineered not a as fighting force, but a mop-up force to destroy the myriad disabled targets after the virus/hacking during the fall of the 13 colonies. The Cylons were not expecting resistance, so they didn't need a battlegroup, only a light cover for its fighters while they went around and blew stuff up. And as shown in The Plan, they ravaged an entire civilization's worth of fleet quite easily when used in that role. They are the ultimate surprise attack light carriers. However, that is also why they suck so damn much at hunting an obsolete, beaten up, undermanned Battlestar and its troupe; it's like trying to use an aegis cruiser to sink a transport convoy protected by a battleship that can launch an airgroup. It took four to almost get the Galactica (and it even managed to remain quite operational after that), Pegasus can fend off three of them without receiving heavy damage, I think the only reason the one at Ragnar was that much of a problem for Galactica was because it was literally the first planned and coordinated operation of the ragtag air wing (and even then, it came out basically unscathed), Pegasus will annihilate them in one vs one combat, and more than one Battlestar vs one Basestar is a high tonnage gang rape. If it wasn't for the Raiders being such nasty little pieces of work, Adama would have probably been able to retake the entire colonies within a week. The old saucer types from the first war... well, they fare much, much better. Just ask the Columbia - but I'll shut up now.

Yeah. Only Roslin, Tory, and Cottle know that the Hera is alive, and Cottle doesn't even know what happened with her. You know, the more I think about it, the more I wish RDM had taken the third option: Make Pegasus survive New Caprica, but pound it so damn bad (thanks to Lee's inexperience in ship to ship combat and Cylon reinforcements while it covered Colonial One's escape or something) that using it as a ship of the line would be impractical if not almost suicidal, and use it as storage space and Viper production facility under a civilian or some minor officer. Galactica becomes the 'cool ship' again, retain some plot flexibility, But what's done is done, and still works Actually, I think that's what's really powerful about this episode. Even with all the wonderful mecha porn, we still have one of the best characters of the series basically rip his own heart out because if he didn't, everything that he was fighting for would have been meaningless. He does it, and knows right there and then that his mission to save the people of the colonies has failed. Some, a lot, will never be coming back from that planet, including the woman he loves and himself. Tigh will never be the same after New Caprica, in a lot of visceral ways. Even with one of the most awesome combat sequences since the Death Star II, when he tells that to Adama at the end of the episode makes the whole thing incredibly... bitter. That said, I think Galactica has some of the best written and most emotive "battle couple" scenes I've seen, when done right. When done wrong... well, Lee's love life sucks.
