1. The YF-19 DOES have integrated weaponry, as does (I think) every VF since the original Valkyrie. 341641 I'm aware of that being valid, except in the scene (after he loses his gun pod) shells are flying and there's burst fire from where his gunpod should be So unless there's integrated weaponry in the same place as his gunpod (i wonder where/what it would be though, maybe if you have a picture you can upload) then that'd be cool. I'm aware of the YF-21 have the extra weaponry on his arms (as demonstrated in his test flight) but from the movie, the YF-19 showed no signs of other integrated weaponry. there was one scene in the tests where he had an extra armor piece to destroy a cardboard monster but that was about it. Again, if you have some tech specs that you can upload to list all of his interal weaponry then i'd love to see it
2. One would think so, but if you check the gengas he did for the latter OVAs they were not as good as the earlier ones. Even with a reduced budget the "quality" of his own work should not have an unexplained decline. Just like with DYRL Mikimoto worked on the key gengas scenes, settei and oversaw the key animation. IMO the budget wouldn't effect the quality of his work, unless he himself reduced it. 341609 That's not always true because as an office manager i oversee all of my employees work, and if i knew that someones pay was getting cut (even my own) i probably would a) not work as hard, or b) not demand as much in quality of work (considering the budget cuts). Since he knew the series had to be summed up quick, he probably just wanted the madness to end.
3. I beg to differ. Anime (even bad anime) has a better chance of surviving in today's market than it did 10 or so years ago. Many people are willing to watch something no matter how bad it is at least once, and i think since there is such a limited amount of mecha anime on the market today, a remake, (and it would have to be a hell of a remake, kinda like what happened to appleseed) would probably be well accepted by the public. But that's just an opinion, maybe if there were more bad mecha series out there to test the waters it would be better to judge. 341577 I respectfully disagree because the average anime viewer is not interested in a)mecha in comparison to other anime genres, and b)searching for old anime when newer anime is readily available on tv. Middle school kids and teenagers are lazy, and even if MII was rereleased today it wouldn't stand a chance against popular titles such as Full Metal Alchemist, Naruto, and certainly not a snowballs chance in hell against Inuyasha. And as for mecha, I believe the lack thereof is an excellent indicator of the poor "demand". 341608 But then there's also deep considerations of nostalgia among fans (regardless of if they're fans of macross II, macross in general). I'm pretty sure even if a crap series like Macross II was remade to the level of a remake like appleseed then anime fans (macross or not) would definitely watch it IF it was done with a real budget. As was stated before, the biggest downfall of this series wasn't the lack of good designs or even story (though i found it a bit thin) it was mainly the drop off in budget. Though, i'd have to admit, i'd prefer that there be a new macross movie/ova that follows the current timeline (regardless of how sorted it is) than have a remake of a died out series.
4. The other thing i have to add since m+ was popped from the mold of the real life happenings of the competition between the YF-22 and the YF-23 figher planes. Technically the YF-23 was the superior plane, but got shafted for the pick because of politics. This can further support anyones idea that maybe it was purely because the 19 "saved the day" or in other respects was cheaper to produce (since we know that's all the government cares about anyway).
5. Well technically the YF-19 didn't have his gunpod when fighting the ghost w/guld so really only one of them had weapons at the time. (eventhough there was an odd scene where the 19 suddenly has it again and is shooting at the ghost; which is similar to the inconsistency of isamu smashing his main screen and then it appearing again in the next scene)
6. The other thing i was trying to figure out, was how after Nexx destroys the ship with the Metal Siren, how in the next scene he was able to hi-jack a VF-2SS... talk about weird.
7. My only guess for Nissan releasing this 450Z is so that it doesn't conflict with skyline sales in 2007 (and vice versa). With the skyline being released globally and replacing the 350Z as Nissans top sports car, there has to be some distinction between the two to seperate them in the market place.

9. yeh, i know what you mean. Being the devil's advocate in a conversation (even if you actually side with the persons point) helps filter the boys from the men when talking about cars.
10. Another thing to look for if you own the Macross Plus OVA DVD's Vol1. and 2: The picture printed on the disks is the YF-19 in an action pose, but the background is macross II. If you look carefully you can see the wing of a VF-2ss and the thrust from the rear.
11. welcome again (car thread) and congrats on the kiddo's, MacII isnt my fav either, but the VF2ss is a nice mecha design 341372 I have always loved the mecha design for the vf-2ss, and i even got the bandai model, but after building the model, it just seemed way too small for me. I'm an excellent sculptor and have done tons of figure modeling projects, but recently i've been inspired to maybe start a macross related project, but i haven't a clue with which mech to start with, any ideas?
12. Good show man! MW was the only forum I ever wanted to be a part of for years, and still the only one that I am a member where I have actually made friends. 341371 I know what you mean, it's so much easier to make enemies than friends on forums but so far it's been going good, already got myself into a friendly debate over suspensions w/pfunk
13. A transverse mounted leaf is more exspensive then coils by far and a lighter alternative. from a packaging and manufacturing standpoint, a spring is a spring. you might as well down the pushrod motor in it too for being a 100 year old design. If it works, works well why change it 341370 That might be a little more of an opinion because coils are well known for being much lighter and cheaper than leafs, the contreversy comes with how it's setup and the fact that coils don't link directly to the axels, and a much more complex suspension system has to be built to accomodate coils (three link, four link). leafs are a much simpler design and tend to get all of the jobs done that coils do in one go, but have been known to be much heavier and more expensive. So really there's no clear winner, but IMO i would've gone with the coils, especially after building up a few cars of my own, i felt more confident with the cars stance in the corners with a coil setup. But, when it's all said and done, it all a matter of preference and opinion. I really wasn't attacking the age of the technology because i personally think the motor the vette uses (and has been using for how long now?) is quite amazing, especially stroked to 7.0 liters.
14. Thank you! the funny thing is, that i've been a religous visitor to macross world for a couple years now maybe more, definitely before the forums were created. I just was never a big fan of contributing to the forums because i always feel like with the number of topics that are circulating, it's easy to get lost in the sea of discussions, and also there are a lot of members who like to be very narrow minded and rude. But the thing i've noticed about this site is how kind everyone is, so for the first time (ever) i've decided to actually be a part of a forum. I love Macross, and have followed it for quite awhile, (since i was about... 7? or 8?) since then i was infatuated with it all through high school, but then my interest took a halt when my girlfriend had a child in my junior year of high school, so i had to kind of pick it back up in the last few years and it's kind of been a mess since. I think right before i jumped off i was watching Macross Plus, and then next thing i know there was a whole bunch of stuff i missed. Hopefully, i can stay in the loop of things since my now fiance (same girl) and i are having our second child in April.
15. Also you're right saying the "suspension" was a little to broad, it's using leaf springs which was a cheap ploy IMO consdering it's a 63,000 car (2006 ZO6).
16. I have to completely agree with you on that. IMHO i've never been a big fan of topless supercars, that two word phrase is a contradiction in itself (with the exception of the Carrera GT). If you're going to make a super car then sheer intelligence dictates that for structural rigidity you keep the damn top on. As for the HP numbers the GT gets about 500 hp and about 550 torque which is good, but nowhere near what it should potentially be hitting. But i guess you have to take into consideration that if it has more than that the life of the car diminishes, and you'll have to bring it into the shop every 20,000 miles like a ferrari.
17. There was a lot to like about Macross II but just as much (if not more) to hate... like the poor dubbing. I really like all of the scenes with the Metal Siren. Anytime, i watch Macross II i just skip to the battle scenes with the VF-2SS and the Metal Sirens, because if you're watching the dub (which is a total waste of time) you can't get attached at all to the characters. I think if SDF-1 wasn't destroyed in the end and the plot wasn't so thin, this series could've carried itself out to somewhere good. Also the fact that it was set so far into the future kinda takes away any credibility it would have if it was to be put into an official timeline. I love the mecha designs (the Marduk power suits were pretty vicious, though inconsistently animated) and even some of the characters were mildly entertaining at times.
18. I notice a lot of people talking about vette's and other super cars, (I just discovered this thread about 10 minutes ago, i'm a huge motor enthusiast) and personally i have always hated the vette... until this year. When the guy from caddy took over the vette project he made everything on that car awesome, it's unbelievable. It runs a 3.6 0-60 and once it gets into the hands of the GT and LM crews they're going to throw away the cheap suspension and rebuild the car and make it into an even greater super car. Personally i can't wait to see the Japanese answer and the competitor's answers to this new breed of Corvette. I know Nissan has announced the new GT-R which is now using the VQ35 motor (yes disappointing they had to drop the RB because of emissions) or a spawn of that block (3.3? 3.7? displacement is sketchy) but it's definitely using the ATTESSA AWD system which is the best in the business and is still going to be twin turbo equipped. And then you have Ford with their GT which still has more horsepower potential because the supercharger is barely getting any work from that motor. They can easily put a shorter pulley and knock the horsepower up a whole bunch. It's a good time for the motor enthusiast because it seemed like all at once a bunch of the big name companies came out and started making super cars. I know in Japan it was because of the lifting of the gentleman's agreement, but this is almost ridiculous.
