  1. Hey guys. I kinda brought this up before, but is there a good resource out there for paints for these figures? With all the inevitable paint rubbing, tampo covering, and some unpainted areas specifically related to the YF-19 I've seen, I'd figure anybody collecting figures has been down this road before and has a bunch on standby.
  2. Well I seem pretty satisfied with my YF-19. A few pro tips I could mention are be careful of the red chest trim tucked behind the base of the legs in fighter mode when pulling the legs down. That turned out to be a problem throughout for me; fighting to keep the legs from bashing that razor edged red paint on the chest during transformation. Second, the slightest touch of tri-flow penetrating oil did wonders for the ball joints on the hips; although I did tighten the 2 screws holding the socket slightly afterward. Better to oil the joint rather than loosen it imo. The ball-joint friction isn’t uniform so loosening the screws first led to some tight leg positions and others loose requiring many attempts to get it right even after adding oil. Best to add a little oil and tighten the joint screws slightly. Removing the screws holding the plastic leg to the die-cast ball joint repeatedly hazards stripping the plastic screw-hole so best kept to minimum. In reference to my issue with marring the red paint trim, is there any info on the exact colored paint used here? With this bird, some acrylic red and black hobby paint are going into my toolbox in the near future and I really don’t know how to match what’s on the YF-19. They seem to be a very vivid matte red and matte black paints. Getting the black wrong seems forgiveable but man I’d hate to get that red wrong.
  3. Maybe this has been brought up but would it be possible to drill the tailfin mounts out and add pins to them? I know they're terribly small so it would probably be difficult but they seem almost designed to pop off super easily. Mine don't fall off when rotating but they are not strongly secured and do seem subject to loose QC tolerances.
  4. Whoo this stuff is harrowing. Does everyone go through this with every international purchase? It's a good thing it was wrapped 5 times in bubble tape, placed in another box, which was placed in another box and padded with care package goods and clothes. Everything seems ok but there are stress marks on my head laser and marks on the packaging to indicate it was pushed repeatedly against it and almost broke. I'm terribly happy it's more or less alright but pretty shaken about it.
  5. You may be right about EMS prioritization; my valk was shipped 10/05 and is arriving today here on 10/10. That was probably sent from post or combini though.
  6. Someone on the Macross Facebook page linked what xigfrid posted on shapeways. Apparently you can just pull the antenna out since it has no pin.
  7. It looks like somebody got it to sit parallel.
  8. The filed down YF-19 heels are an improvement too.
  9. These are some shots I've seen of the heels between all three figures for comparison. I couldn't credit these except for the one watermarked from jenius' anymoon site.
  10. Those do look like the VF-19 or Hasegawa heels only shorter. The VF-19 heels would look much better in battroid mode shortened and maybe widened a little. I actually like the Bandai forefoot as it is since my main concern was the heel.
  11. Dude, your shapeways shop rocks. WTG. I can't wait to see the feet you come up with. You probably don't need any input on this but I'd model them after the Arcadia ones; I think they got it right.
  12. I saw on facebook that maybe the VF-19 wing boosters don’t peg in right to the YF-19 wings, like they swapped the pegs. Has someone tried them and they fit right?
  13. Well I caught mine before the fam sent it over and had them check tailfins... it looks like I lucked out on head laser and both tailfins (yay!).
  14. From what I’ve seen you can see the case where the molding is correct and they adhere firmly vs where it isn’t, they misalign with the body, and refuse to fold. I saw in maybe the 2chan forums where someone took a flathead and reshaped it to firm up the connection with the tailfin so I might try that, or like others, not pay it particular mind since it’s a pretty minor issue.
  15. Oh. For some reason I was thinking shear meant something like an ablution or cut vs breakage. Yep, I’d say just about anything else is a drop in the bucket compared to that (with all respect to their misfortune).
