  1. I much prefer the TV schemes as well, mainly because they are more varied and interesting. While they look good, the DYRL schemes are pretty repetitive and/or more limited. This makes sense when you consider the scope of each medium, and the need to tell so much story in the shorter time frame of the movie.
  2. @sh9000 - Didn’t you make some of your own gunblast effect parts? Maybe try those on the end of the gunpod.
  3. Bingo. While I’d like to have a seated “Minmei/Minmay” figure, Hikaru spent a good amount of time all by himself in the VF-1D, and most of that was in fighter mode, as @rdrunner displayed. Nice re-enactment work, @Pontus!
  4. @nightmareB4macross, that is some impressive work, especially the movable seats! And didn't Basara pilot the whale hunter valkyrie at one point before he got the VF-19P? Can't remember right now...
  5. Yeah, I noticed that too just now. I'm wondering if Bandai thought the mismatched orange would stand out more if they molded in tan and painted the orange. The orange plastic makes it match exactly to the orange on the chestpiece. I'm thinking about swapping that piece as well. Did you have to take out that screw in the back on the underside to free up that piece? From what I recall, Minmei never occupied the rear seat in the show while the VF-1D was in fighter mode...
  6. It was often used for training, but I don’t think that was its exclusive purpose. Per the mecha manual: “...but nonetheless was an active-service variable fighter. A number of VF-1D units were also deployed as advanced training variable fighters, for live weapons and full combat functionality instruction.” I would have liked to see a hardpoint option for the wings, but then Bandai would essentially have had to include missiles with it.
  7. From the photos I’m seeing so far, it appears that the orange parts on the VF-1D (chest, legs, and maybe head) are actually molded plastic instead of paint, so I’d bet they look better than the VT-1. I’m looking forward to recreating the TV version of this pair:
  8. So when is the 1/100 wave 2 supposed to begin preorder? I want one of the orange and gray sets for my incoming VF-1D.
  9. Amazon JP just charged my credit card for my VF-1D. Their site estimates delivery by 4/26 but it sure if they’re taking international shipment into consideration. Still, this could be to soonest after release that I’ll receive an HMR order.
  10. You almost nailed it: https://www.polygon.com/2019/4/18/18484715/castlevania-anniversary-collection-release-date-games Just trade Legends for Kid Dracula, which I didn’t think actually counted as a Castlevania game.
  11. Hmmm, you’re right. I wasn’t aware there was a set of 2. I’ll probably just order that. And then see what else I can use the other stand for.
  12. ^^ Now that's striking a pose! I need to show that to my son, who used to do that all the time.
  13. If anyone’s ordering these and would like sell me one piece once they receive them, I’d be willing to pay a reasonable price. I only have a single 1/60 valk and would rather not order a set.
  14. While Bandai might be hesitant to release the Angel Bird, knowing it’s a more obscure livery, it could have a high likelihood of people buying multiples for complete squadrons like in that photo, similar to people buying multiple CFs to army build.
  15. Not to derail this further into a camera thread, but aside from the optics, the actual focal length of the lens has a huge impact on how the subject of your photo appears. Most phone cameras use a very wide angle (short focal length), which is making the nose of that VT-1 look much larger, which might be the look some are going for. A shorter focal length also makes it harder to make things in the background appear out of focus.
  16. Exciting to see the VF-1D box art. That always makes the arrival of a new release seen real. Same here. I’ve already built one from Hi-Metal components, but an official release would be cool. It’s also my favorite valkyrie. I admit this is part of the appeal of the Tomahawk for me, since I was a Mechwarrior fan before I knew anything about Macross. I thought about getting the HMR Dougram for the same reason.
  17. Congrats to everyone who was able to score a Max preorder. I’ll keep waiting for the VF-1S Roy announcement.
  18. I’m not that familiar with the game, but that’s pretty cool that they would do a physical re-release. I wonder how hard this will be to get in the U.S. As for Gaiares, that isn’t a very expensive game, so I don’t see as much of a need.
  19. I think the problem you’re running into is the fact that the DYRL pilots are larger than the TV ones, so the VE-1 pilots may not work either. You are correct that the HM pilots are glued to the seat, but they can be removed if you carefully pry them to pop the glue loose. This is generally true. The lens also makes a much bigger difference than the latest and greatest camera. Agreed that @Saburo clearly knows what he’s doing, at least in photos; not sure if he knows the full extent of what he’s doing to our wallets!
  20. Got my VF-4 today from AmiAmi, thanks to @sh9000. Only took 10 days total via SAL. Can’t wait to set it up.
  21. Nice to see the progress here. I’ll probably get a set with the orange parts. I think they’d look good on the VF-1D.
  22. @Lolicon - Your weathering and your photos are fantastic! This making me look forward to the HMR VF-1D.
  23. I think this is probably the main reason for their current scarcity and price. The VF-1A mass production is in a similar situation. If we’re talking about the missile Regult set, those were originally a limited edition, making them more rare.
