  1. Yeah, I remember seeing Mechwarrior stuff in stores and thinking "That looks like a destroid."
  2. You aren't kidding. At CD Japan, the series is listed as 38000 yen. Yikes! I'm guessing these don't have English subtitles?
  3. Apparently I'm a little slow as I just heard about this today. My thoughts say "yuck ". The Hollywood track record for bringing animation "live" is enough to give me a big pause. Then add thoughts of what they would have to snip out of the story to make what will probably only be an hour and a half movie. I guess it has potential for some good mech porn considering how CGI is these days, but that will probably eat 90% of their budget. Leaving 10% for a swiss cheesy plot. I think I would much rather see no attempt made at a live action Robotech than a bad one.
  4. I was considering ordering this a while back before it was released, but I decided to get a copy of the older "Macross The Complete" instead. That was worth every penny, I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm disappointed that there is no Macross Plus music on the new CD as that was one of the main reasons I was considering it in the first place. The artwork looks pretty sweet though. That makes it tempting to get on its own.
  5. The July 2007 issue of WIRED magazine has an article on Transformers toys. At the end of the story there is a two page photo spread titled "The Ancestors". One side of the page is a Taka VF-1A CF, the other page is Gigantor. Pages 148 and 149 in the print edition. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a scanner, so I can't scan the pics. Wired's website does however have the pics from the magazine spread online here: http://www.wired.com/entertainment/hollywo...s_actionfigures. The print edition of the magazine is pretty common, so if you see it at the grocery store, pick it up and check out the valkyrie pic!
  6. I'm sorry to pull this off topic, but what is this cracking issue with the Animeigo DVDs? I haven't been keeping up with the latest Macross news like I used to so I'm in the dark about this issue. I bought the Animeigo box set when it first came out, but I haven't watched them in a while. I've been getting the urge to watch the series again, but I'd like to know more about this cracking issue before I do. I don't have the ability to make backups of my DVDs at the moment (ancient computer with no DVD drive). I'd like to know what the cracking is about before I put the originals in the DVD player and turn them into dust! Any info would be appreciated.
  7. Let's see if I can remember what I have: 1/48: 1 x VF-1J 1 x VF-1S 1/72: 1 x YF-19 2nd ed. 1 x YF-21 1 x VF-11B 1 x VF-19a 1/60: 1 x Hikaru VF-1A 1 x Max VF-1A 1 x VF-1S 1 x Toys R Us VF-1A CF I have a couple of other 1/60s, but I'll have to update the post later. I moved a couple of months ago and the VFs still haven't been unpacked yet. Man, I'm slow.
  8. Thanks for the look out. I like to use Paypal for my Valk. Exchange purchases and eBay. I definitely don't want some scammers getting my info. I can imagine the huge headache it must be to clear this kind of thing up if you get hit by this type of fraud.
  9. This will answer some of your questions about airsoft guns: http://www.airsoftcleveland.com/dumbo_guide.htm I don't have a lot of experience in the matter, but most of the stock airsoft guns I've seen have a good amount of plastic in them. If you dig around you can find metal kits for some of them to make them more realistic, but I don't have any info. on hand.
  10. I bought an airsoft rifle last spring. I got a Tokyo Mauri FN P-90. It's a blast to shoot on full auto! Airsoft guns are a relatively cheap way to get replicas of guns you aren't allowed to own (like the P-90) or can't afford as well as being fun to shoot. I haven't tried it yet, but you can find groups who have war games with airsoft (similar to how paintball is used). It looks like it would be fun. I think airsoft is quite a bit more popular in Japan and Asia than it is in the States, but I think it's growing here.
  11. The Mospeada set sits there and taunts me at Best Buy, but I've spent too much money on other things and have nothing left to buy it with.
  12. 8 fast packs!? If people are buying them up like that I know why Valkyrie-Exchange sold out before I got my lazy ass to preorder. I guess I'll have to wait for the second batch!
  13. I bought mine for Futurama. It's one of my favorite shows, but FOX is taking their time releasing it in the States. The R1 season 2 DVD just came out here, but season 3 has been out for at least 6-7 months in the U.K. and Europe. I'm that impatient, what can I say? It also comes in handy for any anime titles that I don't feel like waiting for. I needed a DVD player at the time (my PS2 mucked up when playing the Animego Macross disks, I can't have that), so I found one that could be made region free and had a built in PAL/NTSC convertor: The Daewoo 5700, $99 at Sam's Club.
  14. Not really. It'd actually be more like if you made yourself a recast of a macross toy, and left the original. Your example is more correct. It's technically an issue of copyright infringement not thievery in the traditional sense. The end result for a lot of people ends up the same though, they don't buy the original product when it can be had for free. The valk. example does illustrate the silly argument that if you feel something is too highly priced, you're entitled to get it illegally. Perhaps the RIAA has been price fixing all this time, but that's what courts and lawyers are for.
  15. I get half the movie then it stops. The next time I try to play it, I'm told the server is busy and to try back later. Meh. Is this a fairly common occurence?
