Recreated a scene from Frontier!....accidentally. Was playing around with Brera's Lucifer (Looks like the pack also came with Grace's?) and the camera angle I chose looked like a great shot! So who better for Mr. Stern to be taking pot shots at? I gotta say, I'm blow away by how well the shading on these models turned out with MME

Purple discharge: Me...added that in photoshop...

  4. Er...just to let you know. If the current movie being discussed comes about (And that I could debate about)...there's probably not going to be any macross in the movies considering the people producing it don't have the rights to produce original macross footage. They'll get sued pretty quickly...

That aside, your picture of Hikaru is pretty cool. Is the fact he kinda reminds me of Tobey Maguire a coincidence? Haha

    YF-29 Durandal
You can view the full 1920x1080 version by clicking here

So here's a forward swept wing version of the VF-25 for ya! Also known as the YF-29 Durandal! You probably can't tell with the shading I applied but it came with Alto's red color scheme from the Sayonara no Tsubasa movie.

This was the first Macross model I ever downloaded and was excited to play around with how effects looked on it!

Overall, I really like the Durandal, but I also like to make fun of it.

    Hello!

I'd like to introduce you to a little project series I'm attempting to start!

As of late, I've come to really enjoy making 3D Macross pictures using a program known as MMD (MikuMikuDance)
It's a freeware program that was originally made as a super basic 3D platform meant to be hand in hand with the Vocaloid singing software. However, over the years MMD has become quite advanced, and many models that aren't just moe Vocaloid girls are compatible with the program now! MME (MikuMikuEffects) makes it 10x easier to load the image with effects and make pictures look great!

Anyone can download MMD here and I'm more than happy to walk anyone through how to use it if interested.

As you can imagine, I'm utilizing the program to bring us some Valkyrie action! Maybe different Macross scenes in the future!

But I have one issue, I hope some one ...anyone would be willing to help me with?
I don't have very many Macross models, Variable Fighters or otherwise.
Most all of my models I use are made by みせたがりP (Misetagari-P).
    His Uploader: http://ux.getuploader.com/9566587/
    His Nico: http://www.nicovideo.jp/user/9566587
    His Twitter: https://twitter.com/ZxcvbnmPark

To my knowledge he has made:

    • VF-0
    • SV-51
    • VT-1
    • VF-1 (Vermillion Platoon colors+ others I haven't looked at yet)
    • VF-1J&S (Unsure of colors)
    • VF-1 With strike and armored packs
    • Queadluun-Rhea
    • Regult
    • Ex-Gear (Empty so I can apply it to human models I have)
    • Macross Quarter
    • VF-25 (Came with a bunch of colors. Not sure how many yet)
    • VF-171 and 171EX
    • VF-27
    • YF-29
    • VB-6
    • Vajra

Other Macross models I have found from various sources that I can use in my project!
    YF-19 Isamu: 相良P
    VF-19 Fire Valkyrie:相良P

Sheryl and Ranka in various outfits from the movies and TV series: Pon
    School Uniform Alto: Pon

    Ai-Kun: Pon

    Destroid Tomahawk: SKG

    Destroid Defender: SKG

Would anyone know of any more places I can find 3D Macross models? I know there are plenty of 3D model Macross threads here on the forums. But any compatible with MMD?
I would LOVE a VF-17 or VF-4 to help illustrate scenes from FalconKPD's Fan comic(Which you should TOTALLY read!!!)

    Anyway!

I'll post all of my pictures I have thus far for this project as replies.

    AND YES!

    Requests are open!

But please note I'm limited to what みせたがり/the other modelers listed have made... so if there's any other places people can think of how to acquire more MMD Macross models... let me know!!!!

  7. Now I don't get it. Keiko has some sort of telecom on her, she was chatting to the others in her team a moment earlier. Why is she not reporting that she is being attacked?

I assume it's similar to a deer in the headlights moment?

When your life is threatened and adrenaline is pumping through your body, you don't think very rationally. I assume her first priority is "get away"

Who knows though. When she's able to register it all she might just remember "Oh crap! That's right! I can call for help!"

Haha. Or so...that's how I see it. What do you think?

  8. I really enjoy this comic! You have no idea!

I mean...I watch you draw it, and I really can't express how much of a fan I am of this project you're trying to pull off.
First off, your style is amazing. Not just in the way you draw the characters, scenery, and effects. But the way you draw in itself. You pull off the gritty unpolished look very well!
I very much look forward to when you upload the next chapter!

I hope more people will comment on this and let you know how amazing it is! I would really hate for you to lose motivation over the fact that no one is giving you feed back!

Let's show this beautiful man our support for his huge project guys!

  9. Actually! My boyfriend was considering making a Macross Webseries! Like full on mangika stuff!

I've seen some of his story boards and it's REALLY impressive!

I don't know how much he'd appreciate me posting about it, but from what I understand, he was planning to make a pre/during frontier area comic that would revolve around a war between the N.U.N.S and a fictional faction that stand against everything the N.U.N.S stand for. I'll try to get him to post on this thread so he can elaborate how he pleases!

But I think it's really cool that so many people are into Macross Fancomics.

    SPEAKING OF WHICH!

I LOVED your strip! I legit, laughed out loud.

I also enjoyed your art style! I hope to see more from you!

  10. Sounds like an interesting project, however, something cannot become very popular if it is not readily available or widely known by the consuming public.

You definitely will not get to the bottom of your questions without learning more about the history of Robotech/Harmony Gold as well.

    Good Luck!

I was thinking about saying "availible" but chose to say "popular" since companies like AnimEigo, Manga Entertainment, and ADV Films technically make it availible in the US, but yes. I agree. They aren't very widley known. I would love to go into that in the documentary!

This is probably the very best place to start if you are not fluent in Japanese. You will find the resources here as well as the archives of previous discussions on this franchise to be rather remarkable.

This truly is the best Macross fan forum for English speaking fans.

From here you can find links to many many Macross related resources available on the web. Many of the owners of those very same resources frequent these boards.

    Thanks so much! <3

I'm not fluent, but my Japanese can get me by. I studied for 5 years worth of Japanese, but I barely retained any of it since it was so long ago. If I start this project. I'll probably pick it up again! But thanks for being so supportive! That really encourages me!

I was hoping somebody would a project like this!

You can also listen to the last three Macross Speaker Podcast episodes for the

tale of Macross' tempestuous history in North America. All the Macross Speaker

Podcasts are good to listen to if you're a Macross fan!

Thanks to Shawn, admin. of the MW forum, the Macross World legacy forum is over here

and you can look over the recently closed HG and Robotech debates in the Hall of the Super Topics

    thread here.

You can also find some of the older MW convention reports on the old MW homepage over here.

A lot of the convention reports have gone missing, so you would need to contact the MW

members directly to get your information and share some MW stories.

VF5SS has done two very informative Macross panels at the Boston comic convention.

    2013

    2014

Plus, he has done many historical overview podcasts of Macross as well!

    The Veef Show selection

I think he's a good guy to talk to about the North American Macross perspective.

    Wishing you much success!

WOW! You can bet I'm saving ALL of those links! I've been listening to quite a few Macreoss podcasts, which I think are great information sorces! For a documentary I would like more more reliable sorces instead of saying "In a Macross podcast, a fan said that a forum said that Kawamori said....etc". But I know a lot of Macross Podcasts have awesome guest speakers, right? Would be great to get information from people directly related with Big West and The Macross Team!

Though I would love to throw in fans reactions and general attitude which I'm sure this forum will help imensely with! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For helping me further this project and give me inspiration to continue!

I'd love to somehow be apart of this documentary as someone who's help english-ify (haha I made up a new word! ENGLISH!!!) Macross films in the past. Boinger can vouch for me.

Cool! I'll Shoot you a PM with my skype!

If you need some help directly, I've got a lot of material on Macross that I used for my podcasts and panels.

HECK YEAH! I'll also send you my skype!

Thanks so much everyone! You're a huge inspiration to this! Thanks for helping out and hope to see some of you at the con!

  11. Haha. Um. If you count college HW projects ...I suppose you could say I've made a documentary before!

In all seriousness, no, I've never made something like this before, but I'm an avid video and sound editor, so I have all the technical skills required to make this happen.

My Macross World Con plans are very much SET!

Sure! I'll shoot you a PM!

  12. Hi everyone!

I'm a relatively new Macross Fan, only having jumped on board after seeing Frontier back in 2011. My fascination of Macross history started not soon after I asked a very innocent question I ask often after watching anime I like.

"When is the English dub going to be made?"

After that unknowingly heavy and loaded question, I began to delve into the history of Macross. I've learned more and more and I really wanted to share everything I've discovered over my short 3+ years with this community!

The purpose of this documentary would be to educate New Western Macross fans who have little to no knowledge of the colorful history of Macross.

Like any legitimate documentary I would, of course, need reliable sources! So I thought Macross World Con would be a wonderful start to get some great interviews with guests, staff and attendees alike!

This will probably require me to get my hands on a live translator since my Japanese Vocabulary is that of a 3 year old. But I am quite determined to make this happen!

I'm not saying this project will be easy. In fact I think it will be a long while for me to gather up enough sources and references to make a decent fan documentary.

Any suggestion or opinions of such a project would be greatly appreciated!

Now...one of my concerns with this sort of documentary is the very question that got me interested in the history in the first place.

Why isn't Macross very popular outside of Japan?

This is a topic I feel lots of new fans would love to be covered, but I know this will bring up the topic of Harmony Gold and the dreaded "R" word.

I know this is a very sensitive subject with many Macross fans and I am concerned about mentioning it in the documentary or interviews.

I don't suppose anyone has any suggestion about how to approach such a subject?

    Thanks in advanced!
