  1. Sure! Here's detail on the leg innards (copied from the Hase 1/48 kit):

I want mine to look like that too!!! The detail is astounding. Can't wait to see what it looks like once you texture it. I'm thinking you should and likely will embellish that with more detail?

  2. Holy crap! I'm late to the party again! This stuff is like crack cocaine. Once you start, it will consume you!

Amazing stuff, AZ! It's been years! DG gave me the heads up that you and he are back in the saddle. I'm going ot have to come up with an offering before the VF CG alter soon...

Both of your works are amazingly inspirational to me as much today as they were back in the day.

    *bows respectfully*

  3. Bizarre. I've been gone from this thread out of sheer depression because, 2 weeks ago, I lost all my models too (along with my music, family photos, documents....) My neighborhood was all flooded out so I was crashing at my parents from the week and basically living out of my backpack, and I had both my external drives in it. Fell asleep on the train on the way home from work and when I woke up... backpack was stolen.

I've since managed to recover some stuff, including my VF-1 model (minus textures) from places like the temp directory on my home machine, but the vast majority of my digital life is GONE. So Dat, man, I feel your pain.

    This thread is cursed!!!

  4. Hello everyone.

Back when I first joined MW, I came upon this thread where artists from all over the world had come and posted their work on CG modeling the VF-1. The work was so inspiring, that it prompted me to do my own version. Having some experience with modeling programs, I took my work there, and I was amazed at the willingness of the other modelers to help me develop my own piece with ad vice, critique, technical assistance, etc.

Needless to say, they became like my MW CG family and over a 2-3 year period helped me create what I believe to be the greatest CG work I have ever produced.

To this day, when I scour the web, the work produced on that thread has been rarely ever matched. And recently. one of the "veterans" posted some work from his VF-1 and I was inspired to bring them back.

So come! Post your work! Movies, images, whatever! However, this is by INVITATION ONLY! So please adhere to these rules on this thread.

    1. You can only post if you have been invited by another Veteran.

    2. Anyone can comment

    3. Only post work that has not been seen on MW before. New stuff! Keep it fresh!

So I'm calling some of the guys I remember (so sorry if I missed you, I just worked with these guys more closely, but I am sure they will call you out to come and show your work).

    Doktor Gonzo

    Rodavan

    Brianw76

    Aztek

Let's do this. Maybe we can inspire a new generation of CG modelers.

  5. I've been using maya like crazy for school, I can do just about anything in it now but rig :( I want to rig my stuff and animate it so bad!!! I'd love to do some compositing and matchmoving with macross models, like the city battles from the first episodes.

2 Scenes I always wanted to see done were the Max vs. Miriya first encounter as well as a recreation of their arcade fight.

  6. And awesome to hear from you and from Rod! Now we just need to get Datterboy and Vinnie and Les Parisek posting some stuff too, and it'll be just like old times around here!

Ask and you shall receive! We havin' a reunion?

  7. Didn't hate it, didn't think it was a "good" movie, but was entertained. Big opportunity missed to give Hugh Jackman a truly iconic role and establish Wolverine the way real fans know and love him.

    - Wolverine's berserker rage never really played into it

    - Overall personality was somewhat wolverine, but not gritty enough

    - Amnesia was glazed over, should have been more developed

    - Brothers? No.

    - Origin itself was too brief.

    - Lack of attention to real detail and uniqueness. Like someone else said, it was standard "coolness" affair and didn't strive to be "special"

    - Everyone's age seems to be thrown around like rag dolls. Timelines, people?

    - dug the side characters

    - Great fight scenes

    - good FX (not great)

This movie was not made with a lot of love, but it was popcorn summertime entertainment.

  8. Did you rig these guys with a skeleton? Are they FK/IK rigs? I'm so curious.

These were rigged by Kingnor, he's a professional animator and he did a few animations with it and was far to complicated for me to understand or use. He produced some animations and so did I. Mine were based on keyframing and rotation points, but no skeleton rigs where his was. I've uploaded them here:

    http://studio1311.net/temp/valk/vids/

You'll very much be able to tell the difference between his and mine.
