  1. You're missing the pt. A sci fi show, the screenwriters who created the back bone, the structure of the show, the entire script per episode has to be convincing. I find 90% of all Hollywood movie has bad script, or a certain critical scene tanks and corrupted the rest of the movie. Among that 90%, 70% is due to bad script, or backbone of the story doesn't make sense. Analog clock and sci fi just doesn't go together, no more than a telephone. I don't care how they "try" to justify it on a show. Like tonight's episode, is it remotely possible that robot found the human, start shooting at the bar, and yet never bother walk around the bar to make sure that human is dead? Think about it, would you do that? You obviously heard the toaster pops the bread, that there is human in that room, you either search that place or you shot anything that moves. The human was evading the machine gun shot, and yet in the end--the robot never check to see if any of his shot make it thru? And just walk out and leave the human alive with not even 1 bullet wound? If you were the screenwriter, would you write a script like that?
  2. Alright, what about ST: TNG? Their special effect is way better than BSG. BSG just don't have the budget, that's why they have these cheap actors/actresses and lame special effect. That Fri. episode when starbuck fight against those 8 enemy space ships, the special effect quality dated back to the first star war in 1977. Just a couple of beam shots, when I was watching it, I just can't believe how plain that is. Talk about "lack of special effect." Even the setup of the interior of the ships, ST:TNG is many times better. I mean, is it even possible that in the time era of BSG, that they are still relying on analog clock? Next thing you know, they are using Energizer battery. Have you seen an analog clock (like the ones at Walmart) in ST:TNG?
  3. All you need is to pipe the output of your S-Video signal (after the tuner) to the input of a LCD like the HP L2335, which c/w S-Video Input. You can then immediately save it on your hard drive. Then Use "DVD Author 1.6", and "DVD Patch" to make it in a playable DVD on a conventional DvD stereo player. From that pt. on, you can use "DVD X Copy" to cut down the size of the MPEG2 file and press it in single layer DVD+R, or DVD+RW. If any of the above s/w changes the "Book Type" on you, buy Benq Dual Layer DVD+RW drive to alter the Book Type to Stereo DVD player format. (read only)
  4. I said space fight, not flight. Look at Fri. episode, the special effect scene of that woman vs. those 8 ships are just crappy. It looks like a high school project film. The only reason I am watching it is because there isn't anything better to watch, which is the problem w/ sci fi. space ship type show, there is very few. Andromeda (good design ship, cheap special effect, a bunch of XOXO on the display screen ends the fight). The only good one is SG1 and Atlantis.
  5. The series is so lame, it's not even funny. I really expect them to re-do all those ships after 25 yr., apparently they are too cheap to do so. Even when Paramount air a new series star trek series, ea. time, they do a new ship for you to see. But with Battlestar Galactica: Cheap space fight, cheap special effect, fly by night actors and actresses, all they are doing is riding on the name "battlestar galactica" and trying to make some coins out of the name.
  6. I don't really see that as a problem. Think about it, the kit say is 20K yen. You now offered 40K yen. The extra 20K yen is approx. US$200. If it is a kit you really want, and WF is only twice a year, why not? In for a penny, in for a pound. I do have 3 questions: 1) Say you want to do that, how would you do it? How do you know who bought which at the show? 2) Using the Five Star Stories kits (I know this is not a FSS forum) as an e.g., the same kits that they have with QTY 10 to QTY 50, which were SOLD at WF Summer 2004, what is the chance that those sculptor will sell the same kit at WF Winter 2005? Is it common for these sculptors to come back and get another 1 day license and sell the same kit? 3) Is there a web site shows the break down in category of different GK at the show from the past year? I have seen some magazines such as Model Graphix showing the displays, but it seems there are much more than those few dozens pictures shown.
  7. First of all, thanks for you reply, guys. Well, more than 1 day, that's impossible for most people. The show started at 10 am. What time did you guys get there to do your line up in the last winter festival? And eh...there isn't anyone who "sells" his spot by chance, is there? Have you guys heard about this kind of story? Or, let's cut to the chase: I have seen many people at Yahoo Japan auction selling these kits for double the price, with rare cases triple the price. How would you save that process and buy from those who bought the kit NOT for modelling but planning to sell it for profit right on the stage at Wonder Festival that day? Don't tell me I need a 6 ft. sign, I can't go that far. There must be a way around -- last time I checked, the world revolves around money.
  8. How do you buy advance ticket ? I went to kaiyodo.net/wf, send them an email for payment info., nothing comes back. Did any of you ever manage to buy advance ticket? If so, how?
  9. I heard some members here had been to Wonder Festival in Japan. So I have a few questions if anyone can spare a moment: 1) I have an old map of 1999 WF. And I was looking at Five Star stories dealer table. They are scatter all over different section (A, B, or C). Has they improve upon that in the last show? Concentrate them all in or near the same tables? 2) If each dealer is selling only 50 kits, how many minutes does it take for it to get clean up? And if you have to visit more than 1 table, what then? How do you pick up a few kits at a few different tables? Is there time to buy one of each before they are gone? 3) Kaiyodo.net sells advance ticket. Do they mail it to North America? There is also a program guide that shows the break down of these tables before the show. Is there a way to get one of these program guide before leaving for Japan? Or is it available in a certain web site? http://www.bigsight.jp/english/userguid/gu...id_meeting.html 4) What floor and what hall was WF 2004 Fall held? And how do you walk from section a to b? 5) Someone convinced me to get there at a certain time for line up in order to be the first patch to get to the dealer tables. Are we talking about 2 -3 am or 4 - 5 am, what's the rules of engagement?
