  1. Holly crap! So much great work here! @Kurt those figures look great as does the tank! Love the mud and scuffs on the paint. @Rock those belts and buckles really level up the scale effect and that paint job looks like it's gonna be killer. Can't wait for the finished shots. @pengbuzz Murphy looks really good👍. Sweet little dio display too, really sets off the build well and is very evocative of the film. Perfect way to display a character build! @HWR MKII always loved the look of that jet- so real world, and so Sci-fi cool at the same time. You really did a fine job of making it shine. So many great builds I'm sure I missed some. Finished up the gunship from Nausicaa this weekend. Nothing special, just a straight OOB build. Perhaps I'll do a folded wing version with the Tsukuda kit that's still in the stash. Had a minor scrape, down the left side rear fuselage below the rear cockpit when I installed the windscreen. Other than that and the mis-aligned lines in the flaps on the left wing (didn't notice 'till it was too late to fill and rescribe) I feel pretty good 'bout this one.
  2. Thanks! Of the two I am most interested in the Ed 209, but I've got kits pre-ordered every month from now 'till June, so I've been holding off on it. Don't know how much longer I can resist. Decided to work on Nausciaa's Gunship of the Valley of the Wind for my next build. I've got two Boxings of the kit: the Tsukuda Boxing from '84 & a Bandai Boxing from 2004. Scalemates says the Bandai is a reboxig of the '84 kit, which is what I've read and heard since forever, but my eyes are telling me a differet story. At some point Bandai engineered a whole new kit. Parts layout on the sprues is completely different, not to mention the parts themselves being different sizes and shapes with different details. Is anyone here a member at scalemates? Thinking they might want to know their info needs updating. Tsukuda on left Bandai on right. Bandai Tsukuda
  3. Murphy is looking good @pengbuzz. I've been looking at the Good Smile Co. Moderoid Robocop and ED-209 tha are both upcoming, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. @derex3592 you've done better than I did closing up the bays on my Academy F18, but then the canopy cracked and so it sits unfinished in my stash. Hope you have better luck than me. After building the redesigned Academy God Phoenix I was pleased, but still not quite satisfied so I got Wave's, screen accurate kit and, although it is smaller, I am much more satisfied with it. Unlike the Academy kit, it did not come with a stand, so I modified an old one from my spares with some images from the 'net and glossy photo paper.
  4. Thanks for the responses. Waiting gets harder the closer the date gets.
  5. Anyone heard anything 'bout the Moderoid Orguss release? No payment request for me yet.😔
  6. That's some really great work there. Got a few of these in the stash myself. Couple of questions for you. How did you do this: Was it by making two diagonal cuts on the sides and then repositioning the two pieces on the sides and gluing? And which size Gundam hands did you use?
  7. Nice job on that! Simple and clean always looks great. Love the simple wood block base the colour really sets off the model. Congrats. Built and finished this little guy today. It's box scale, but I found an old 1:100 scale figure that I chopped up and threw some paint on and it looks OK ( for what can be seen through the canopy).
  8. Detail paint done, dull coat on looks much better. Think I'm gonna call this one done.
  9. Thanks. While I was filling and sanding all the extra 'detail' on this kit, trying to make it smooth, I had flashbacks to the old AMT refit Enterprise with it's horrible panel detail. I just ordered the Getter Dragon from the same kit line, so I guess I'm a glutton for punishment. (Looking at pics online, that one will need a fair bit of re-sculpting of the head/face.) @pengbuzz love what you're doing with that Robocop. I totally agree with your take on the toys too -way too expensive- and for me all the fun is in the building anyway. Can I ask where the figure is from? I got a project in my head that might benefit from acquiring one of those.
  10. Been working on the 1:144th Bandai Grendizer and it's almost there. Still some touch-ups and details left, but it's coming along. Here's a shot of where It is at the moment with a stock web photo of What it looked like out of the box. Compared to:
  11. Pretty sure I've got an unused Hase. 1:48 Ground crew set. You're welcome to the pilots from that if you want 'em. It's a pretty old mold, so they're not that great. Just shoot me a PM with your address if you want 'em.
  12. Your welcome! Glad you got some. I have no personal experience with Tamiya poly-putty, but from others who have used both it, and mori mori, they say the hardener are compatible/interchangeable (intercompatible??). Either hardener can be used with either putty. As far mori mori being discontiued - I haven't actually read that anywhere, just my own supposition based on it being out of stock everywhere.
  13. Love Mori-Mori, but I thought Wave stopped producing it. A while back, when HLJ still carried it, I got a larger tube of the hardener. Here's a link to what I got (from a different seller) https://www.suruga-ya.jp/product/detail/606004571 I can't find any sources for mori mori (that have it in stock) anywhere aymore. Wish I could, that stuff was the perfect consistency when it dried and soo easy to sand and shape.
  14. Umm you guys know that Bondo autobody filler is polyester putty right? Still pretty widely available in its original formulation ( in Canada at least).
  15. That's a really full bench @derex3592 ! Good news Hobby search is having a sale and the Doyusha Boxing of that Academy B1 is 27% off and same goes for the Acedemy 1:72 blackbird. Gues what I just ordered? @Rock is that 1:20 Gundam a scratch build? Looks awesome. Would love to see some pics that show the relative sine of the build ( maybe a pop can?) @Urashiman you seem to know what you're doing so I'll just sit back and enjoy the beauty of your process. Looks great so far.
  16. Always loved that bird @derex3592 ! Your gushing about how well it goes together has got me seriously considering picking one up.
  17. The face looks pretty good, albeit perhaps a little to soft and rounded in places, but waaayy better than I could do. I think redoing it is the right choice as it is proportionally too large for the body. Perhaps build up the body 'till you get it where you want it then sculpt the head to match? Currently on my bench is the Bandai HG 1:144 UFO Robo Grendaizer. I'm filling in all the extra panel grooves in the kit to try and get closer to a more screen accurate look. Essentially taking this: And trying to get closer to this: This is where I'm at so far: And just for fun some posing. The hips aren't going to be the correct shape, but it should look better than the base kit (I hope).
  18. Very, very nice! Classic war-time diorama design, (set in the world of SDF Macross) flawlessly executed. Cudos to the builder.
  19. Beautiful display Mechtech. Looks like it belongs in a museum - very professional! Another stalled build off the backlog. Started this one a while ago, but had some paint reaction nonsense, so I put it aside. Nothing special build-wise pretty much straight out-of-box (just some very small changes). It's Academy's re-imagined God Phoenix from Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. Wanted to get this done 'cus, while there are things I like about the redesign, I've always wanted a model of 'the real thing', so I ordered one of the Wave kits that came out just after this Academy was issued. Anyway couple of quick pics.
  20. Did you take any pics of the marks? Not sure what 'injection points' are. Maybe ejector pin marks? Regardless, that's not the best news, not a deal breaker mind you, but still disappointing to hear.
  21. Thanks for the warning. I used Krylon Cryatal Clear gloss over tamiya acrylics on my Cordoba without incident, but the Tamiya colours had been on for about a week. I'll have to keep your warning in mind If I decide to use it again. The colours look good! Love that mix of cool gray and orange.
  22. Always love seeing your builds come together electric indigo. That looks superb. @Thom the Yamato builds you've been posting look Saweet! and they're whetting my appetite for more. I've got a 1:1000th 2199 assembled and waiting for finishing on my shelf, maybe that'll be my next project. Calling the Cordoba build done for now, just gotta work on the stand. Gonna leave the mini Minerva and other ships on the spruesfor now. Edit: the full sun obscures the metallic nature of the paint. This is more representative of how it looks on the shelf.
