    Help

Robodragon gave you some great pictures to go by. I like the 1/48 variable Legios kit myself. It's a model so it gets weak in some joints, but its a one piece tranforming mecha; no extra parts. Bandai's kits vary depending on the kit. Some of them are molds purchased from other vendors. Hasegawa's kits are all excellelent. I love the ones I have and I haven't heard anyone say they hated theirs. - MT
  2. Those look really awesome man! REALLY clean and shiny too. They're just asking to get shot at by the "bad guys." - MT
  3. Thanks for those links. I should have checked out Kotobukiya's FULL line of stuff! - MT
  4. The vehicle set is Hasegawa's Aircraft carrier set (figures and truck). Oh yeah, if you want to keep your figures from falling, either glue thm down (obviously) or use clear sheets of plastic to make base for them. You can get a hand hole punch and make small circles to glue on each foot too. - MT
  5. That's a great idea. Here's one from a show (I forgot where I got it). [attachmentid=43183] If you're a stickler for details, the uniforms are orange. A good source for plastic is Styrene Products. The more effort you put into it, the more realism. - MT
  6. My hands get sore just looking at all the sanding you've done . Looks great. - MT
  7. Thanks man. The step by step looks great. I'm sure a lot of us appreciate it! Someday I'll build a kit...a valkerie kit! - MT
  8. Somebody here COULD do the Battle 7. Just look at all those nearly flat panels and angles. - MT
  9. Ha ha ha ha ha. Build mine too while you're at it ! Just how big is it? The Daedalus' LOWER hull length is 70 inches and the beam is 10 inches. The Nichimo kit is about 52 inches by 7 1/4 inches. [attachmentid=43161] [attachmentid=43162] [attachmentid=43163] Will you do me a favor honneamise? Give us a play by play as you build it up? The model does have A LOT of innacuracies. I spent three weeks just working on the bridge fixing them. It's still beautiful though! Then I moved and decided five years was long enough of a wait to build the Daedalus (plus I got the translations needed). There was a guy who made a complete brass barrel set for the kit. Sadly he died of a heart attack just two weeks before getting married! On a side note, check these out: [attachmentid=43164] The smallest are half the size of micro R/C race motors! That gearhead is a QUIET planetary gear case 10mm wide and does 120 RPM at 3v. I got them here:http://www.fastcomponents.co.uk/index.php?cPath=43. - MT
  10. Congratulations WM Cheng - again. That's a long time! I'd be having withdrawls months earlier (it's not the glue - really )! Let us know how the Yamato build goes! I got the old kit in 1/500th and was disappointed with the lack of detail and innacuracy. My 1/200 IJN Yamato is much better for being nearly the same sculpting era. By the way, our PC is just caddy corner to the workbench in it's own cabinet. I just wheel over to it! Why put it there? There was no other place in the house! That's good though. When the children go down for the night and my wife gets on the PC, I work on my models, and she feels less of a "Hobby Widow" being two feet away. Not that I build that much lately anyhow. - MT
  11. MilSpex, I have no idea! There is A LOT not mentioned. That's good and bad! In fact, in some of the anime you see three Monsters side by side in the Daedalus "Attack Mode." The Daedalus will ONLY hold two up front. No room for three - at all. All the connecting doorways are one deck high, not the two deck height the Monsters need. There's nothing on Phalanxes being in there either. But it's a Destroid and it's going in mine! Plus I cast a bunch a few years back (has it been that long?). All I can tell you are that the Tomahawks, Spartans, Defenders and Monsters are drawn in the bow section. Of course that leaves about 2/3 of the ship for whatever I want to put in it . That's the good side to the ambigiousness. Pfunk, thanks anyway! - MT
  12. That looks great! It's too bad about the paint. It sems you gotta mold stuff in color for them to take any kind of wear. The end results were well worth it I'd say! - MT
  13. Yep. I'm also taking donations (look back a few posts) too. Anyone who wants to donate their little destroid (most people don't seem to care much about them) and get credit for them can do so. Of course I'll be mass producing them AFTER the fact (can't put the cart before the horse). - MT
  14. Thanks BigF. The problem is I don't have a safe place to keep the upper decks away from the children! This thing is big. Nothing is made in 1/350th for Macross or I'd do that! - MT
  15. That's great! Just don't get it wet ! - MT
  16. Thanks MilSpex. I've planned this thing out for years to "do it right." So far so good. AWESOME place for MICRO sized gearcases (in case you want to motorize something) http://www.precisionmicrodrives.com/ Isamu, the cage still needs some work and then I have to line it with newspaper . - MT
  17. Some crazy people like me are doing the same thing. I'm goin' for one of everything in 1/200. My hat off to that guy! - MT
  18. On the shelf, the destroids will just sit in there. On the water the decks will probably be cleared to make the hanger decks lighter. It gets windy here and I'll have to do some tests first (I'm afraid a good wind might capsize it - can you say "list". But it will probably run "clean." A few people have said I'm nuts. But you know, nothing ventured nothing gained. This will be my "display case."
  19. Thanks Tinderfitles! No preasure, right! It's just the fate of the earth and so on and so on . Valkyriepm, I'd love to get some stuff photoetched. I just didn't want to pay that dear for it. How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking? UPDATE 12 JUNE 07 I got most of the bow skeleton done. I found a great place for gearboxes and small motors. I'm going to need them for the elevators, cranes and other effects. I'm almost thinking of adding a sound module to it, similar to the 1/350th Yamato http://www.hlj.com/product/ban946749 . The screw up with the frame I talked about earlier works to my advantage and came out perfect anyhow - Thank God! I printed my plans in full scale and printed them out on standard paper. My printer squints the artwork so everything was a little off from page to page. [attachmentid=42930] The plans for an idea of the profile. [attachmentid=42931] Plans with skeleton beside it. [attachmentid=42932] A 3/4 view. [attachmentid=42933] Overall so far. I'm surfin' for supplies now! - MT
  20. I would do you wrong if I didn't seend you the whole page: Build Ups Page Go down about midway and look for the VF-GBP armor with missiles flying out thumbnail. Check out the other buildups there for ideas too. The cool part, the Macross stuff there is 1/200th scale. Well done for the size. - MT
  21. It looks good so far. What materials are you using (beside wood)? - MT
  22. That looks great man. I think you just came up with the solution Australia has whith what to replace some of it's aircraft with! - MT
  23. There you go man! I just have to wait and get more stuff together. - MT
  24. Big F, for two cents more I would have made the Daedalus 1/144. These things and so many standard kits are 1/144. It drives me nutz!!! I could have gotten armor and tons of contemporary aircraft in 1/144th too! I'm gonna stop banging my head against the wall the wall now and get back to building! - MT
  25. Can't wait to see how it comes out in 7+ days. - MT
