If anyone's considering buying a PSP for this game, might want to hold off until October when the PSP-3000 comes out (the current one is the PSP-2000, known as the slim). Stupid torrent throttling... Won't be able to see this for another few hours! I guess now we know what that fighter in the opening is. The way they cross each other leads me to believe that Alto and whoever is flying it are bound to be enemies. Epic dogfight for a future episode?

I seem to remember someone mentioning this in another thread. The reason why Kawamori chose the VF-17 over the 19 is that the 19 looks very similar to the 25, and he wanted people to differentiate between the fighters easily. Heck, take a VF-25, make the wings sweep forward, and you'd think it's a VF-19.

It is. No doubt about it If you go back to the Deculture edition during the ghost fighter scene, in the command center hologram map, you can clearly see Macross 25 written above the ship currently docked to the front of Island 1.

I'm loving the fight sequences! So far all of them have been top notch. But is anyone else bothered by the fact that by this episode, Alto has been in a valk only a couple of times, and yet he's flying the thing like an Ace? Show him stumble a bit at least

The deculture edition was released in late 2007. I think it was a "teaser" of sorts to get people pumped up for the series. The broadcast episode 1 is very similar except for a few different scenes. For example, in DE the VF-171 launch is choreographed with Sheryl's concert song while in the BE it's separate. The concert is also longer in the BE with new scenes. The DE also lacks any opening or ending songs, which the BE has. Some criticize the BE as being a bit inconsistent in its scene editing, but it's not that bad. IMO, watch both to get a full picture of episode one, since you have scenes in one that aren't in the other.

In the scene where Sheryl is getting dressed while talking on the phone to Cathy Glass, you can see in the concert replay that her earing flies off and hits Alto's right shoulder while he's carrying her. I guess it stayed on him until he got in the VF-25 and they found it there. EDIT: Oh, and they only show it in the replay. If you check out that scene in Ep1, there's no sign of the earring

Yup, was really looking forward to flying this again. I remember playing with the original version when he was still working on it, and it was a joy. Unfortunately I lost it during a reformat. Would love to hear an update on the FS2004 YF-19.
