It looks like my "Judge"(%) will be getting a pair of "bailiffs" this spring. I am so glad they are continuing with the Destroids. They will look incredible together on the shelf. (%) My MAC-II is lovingly called this at my house.
  2. That makes sense. Just think how much the MAC-II would weigh using modern materials. With overtechnology alloys, it has a mass of 187 tons(m). I always wondered back in the 80's and 90's if the inertia driver tech was used in human technology for the big kids like the MAC, but the source materials say otherwise. It is likely being used some in the transforming battleships found in the later series like 7, F, etc.
  3. I noticed that most of the "Overtechnology" based vehicles are surprisingly lightweight for the volume they occupy. For example the VF-1 series weigh 18 tons fueled, and loaded. The Spartan weighs in at 30 tons. For the size of these machines they should probably weigh in at double or more. A real world example is the venerable F-14 which weighs 20 tons. The F-14 doesn't transform or have thermonuclear engines. Even if the VF-1 was literally an F-14 with arms, said arms would weigh 2-3 tons each. Macross is by no means a sole offender. Dougram, and Gundam often have rediculously light mecha for their size, Gundam's many variant timelines especially.
  4. At that price, Max Factory will keep me on as a customer.

I think HLJ will open it up once they are in stock.

Those are IR/Vis-Red floodlights. The other 4 little turrets are as stated targeting hardware.

Agreed. What kind of blows my mind is how big it is compared to 1/100 Macross mecha. Compared to my old 1/100 Phallanx, the MkII is truly massive.

I've got a Matchbox Zent for a 1/60 custom if I ever "get the stones" to cut some revoltech joints into him. The Imaii 1/100 version is on my get list, and will get some articulation upgrades as well. I wonder if the pilots from some of the old 1/100 Macross kits would fit better?

Now I'm jealous. Are those the ones that use the revoltech joints?

SHINY AND CHROME! which kit is that? Is it the old 1/100 Imaii(?)?

One small thing that delights me is that the two foward consoles do show the features from the lineart. The right-side actually has tiny control yoke for the driver.

I got mine in the post today. Lordy what a beast! This thing is quality in every way. I paid $270 total after shipping, and do not regret a dime. Now I have to carve out some time to paint up some crew and get the shells done for a diorama base.

Amen to that! I worked with a fellow who sailed on an Iowa class during Sandbox War 1. He said you feel big guns like the 16"(400mm) more than hear them. They wore excellent headgear, and most crew areas would use positive pressure to keep sound transfer down and push out fumes.

I'm using this pack: https://hlj.com/product/WAVOP-431/Sci This is due to the Monster being used a lot in space. So a crew in pressure suits made the most sense.

I pulled the trigger on those brass casing parts. I should have them in hand about a week.. I will see which method of artificially aging works best to give them the "just fired" look.

Thanks Beatsing, sadly that MKII firng video is region blocked (US). After some reading most sources state that the main guns are liquid cooled but use conventional propellant. The MkI is different as it has the hands and four separate ejection hatches for the main guns. As far as I know the MkI and MkII both use the same base artillery guns.
  18. You can do eet! I am glad to see somebody tackling this awesome and overlooked design in 1/60.

Looky here:http://cdn3.volusion.com/ctxtv.wmppt/v/vspfiles/photos/fer1-2.jpg?1466522381 These seem promising. Especially with the bottom port already milled out.

400mm shells would be 4mm at the 1/100 scale (Natch). I will have to take a look at the footage of the MKI firing to see what kind of extraction base the "brass" has. Addendum: After watching this: I see that the MkI uses a smooth cannister shell with no extraction tooling. The MKII is a newer model relatively and may use a gas, atomized, and/or hypergolic propellant. I sort of remember mention of an advanced propellant method being used.
