  1. Actually, I was sick during this years Otakon. That's why, during the panel, I was chugging down water like a camel.
  2. I'm sorry to hear what happened. Best of luck sorting this mess out and hope to see you back here soon.
  3. Literally speaking, buying imports is not endorsed by the law. However, it's a grey area that US law enforcement does not bother with. Also, according to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, defeating copy and/or region protection on DVD's is illegal. Basically, if you use a slide card or mod chip to play import games, you're in violation of the DMCA. But will the police raid your house if you do so? Nope. You're just voiding your warranty with Sony. As far as I know, Microsoft is the only company who has claimed that it is illegal to modify your X-box. edit: syntax
  4. My bad, it appear the bootleg Macross Saga box set is only 5 discs long. So, it's probably 7 episodes per disc. At that rate, I wonder if there's room left for the good ol' Sentinels.
  5. Big "O", don't let one simpleton get to you. Whatever their stance on this issue, anyone who has read this dialogue can see you've made solid logical points instead of resorting to worthless rhetoric (Johnny Cochran anybody?).
  6. Here's my most recent pic, taken from my vacation this summer. Shameless plug! Yes, I was completely destroyed when this picture was taken.
  7. At only 7 discs, I wonder if there is room left for the Sentinels. As if Robotech weren't baffling enough for the East, I'd think the Sentinels would confuse them up even more. Mospeada and Southern Cross mecha in the same universe? I hope the bootleggers included linear notes explaining Robotech's origins.
  8. "VS" topics are utterly pointless because they cannot be resolved. The only thing they're good for are potential flame-wars. The mods have enough to do around here, they don't need to waste their time babysitting fruitless threads. Personally, I don't like "VS" threads because, due to their endless nature, they will bump down other legitimate threads. Multiply this exponentially, and you could have 15 "VS" threads shoving everything else down. Ali Sama, with all due respect, please proofread your posts. I'd like to read what you write, but after 2 or 3 sentences, I usually give up.
  9. Doubtful, as Toynami will milk the Alpha with every variation known to mankind. Despite what they're going to advertise, Toynami won't make any money if the Alpha is truly a "limited" release. I say, wait till prices drop to $30.
  10. It truly is in human nature to simplify things. Edit: From the screenshot, my guess would be that the ARMD is the DYRL version while the Prometheus is the TV version. The SDF-1 was equipped with the ARMD in DYRL, whereas is was equipped with Prometheus in the TV show.
  11. For anyone living in the Baltimore, MD area; PowerGamer in Towson Town Center is selling the slide card for $29.99.
  12. I only buy games that are good, and it takes more than the Macross logo to make a good game. I'll find out soon enough if Macross for the PS2 is worth my hard earned cash.
  13. Actually, when it comes to Fellowship, I don't mind swapping.. With that gorgeous video transfer and DTS track, it's a fair trade-off in my opinion. I just can't stand DVD's with poor video mastering and Dolby Digital. Anyways, I come from the long forgotten world of laserdiscs. I'm used to swapping.
  14. Like I said before, I've posted some scathing reviews on the MPC, but I've always kept it objective and also mentioned the (few) good things the MPC has going for it. I mean, those are some pretty sweet landing gears! As for the differences betweeen Macross and Robotech, I've always kept it civil. I can empathize with the newbies on there. After all, it's not like I was born knowing the differences between Macross and Robotech. Someone had to tell me.
  15. hmmmm personally the EE I found to be flawless in its editing and the stuff added added so much IMHO. So I want all the extended versions. Most definitely. I was blown by the lengths Jackson went to include the extra scenes. I mean, he just didn't slap them in there blindly. He had the music rescored so that the EE scenes would seamlessly blend in, that's marvelous! The DTS audio was a much welcomed addition too! I don't care if it cost $50, I would've bought that set regardless. As for TTT EE, I'll probably burn...I mean rent it first, since I was dissapointed with its theatrical release (due to the poor editing). But if TTT EE is truly gold, then I'll buy it.
  16. At this point, a 20th anniversary edition is unlikely, but I'd place money on a 25th anniversary edition.
  17. It would be awesome if they included music, with the DVD format, they could include tons of streamed music. But they'd have to license each song they'd want to include, here's hoping they spend the extra buck to go the extra mile.
  18. Ditto, never been booted either. I've even posted some objective (however not pleasant) reviews on their MPC back in the day.
  19. I'll wait for the uber box set. I got the Fellowship EE the first day it was released, but I passed on TTT completely, the editing on that one left me underwhelmed. The jury's still out on ROTK, but I've been getting the impression that Jackson won't be waiting much longer after ROTK to release the uber box set, so I think I can wait it out.
  20. IIRC, .fcd stands for "Fake CD." If this is what I think it is, then you have to convince the emulator that the .fcd file is being read as a full cd and not an individual file on your hd. Anyways, it's the game minus the redbook audio, so you'll lose 98% of the games music and voices. Sorry if this info is wildy inaccurate, but I don't know much about .fcd's since I own the real CD-ROM's.
  21. Cool story, Rob. IIRC from my physics class, your story makes logical sense. Upon impact, the armor (being on the outermost along with low density) would easily absorb most of the kinetic energy, sparing the Valkyrie from most of it. The final burst of energy would be released in all the little pieces snapping off the Valkyrie. We got any physics majors around here to see if my memory is worth beans?
  22. The bookends look great, except for: 1) I only own 1 MPC 2) I don't think the Valkyrue and Regult are done to scale (nitpicky, yeah I know).
  23. I'm definitely picking up this set. SDC Southern Cross is, by far, superior to The Robotech Masters.
  24. The Slide Card should boot CDR's and DVDR's too. The actual slide card prevents the PS2 from detecting that the front tray has been opened, thereby allowing you to boot with the Magic Disc and replace said disc with a burn or import. I've used the Magic Discs in conjunction with solderless mods with success. Like ewilen wrote, the CD Magic disc (not to be confused with the DVD Magic Disc) didn't boot psx games, but I got an older version of the CD Magic Disc to boot fine. I guess the latter CD Magic Discs have an error in their boot code, or just aren't compatible with my PS2 model. ***waits for esta to come by and tell us how lame we are for using mods and not buying an import PS2
  25. According to Macek (Robotech Art 1), "Ippei Kuri" was the pen name of Anime Friend's president.
