  1. look, but don't touch.... touch, but don't taste.... taste, but don't swallow.... Actually, remember what happened on Qantas with that stewardess and that actor? Take it to a logical conclusion with these types of seatings, and you could see potentially a new revenue stream for the airlines. If it happened regularly enough, might make first class less desirable for the Singapore girls. I wonder how the other A380 users would alter their first class, and what other items are in the offering.
  2. Following up yesterday's SIA Beyond First discussion. I wonder why they didn't seal the entire cabin and left a space open on the top. It seems odd to me because in this instance, it isn't really that private if someone is tall enough. I almost think of this setup like what they have on a train, a private cabin would be what they're trying to mimic, but it doesn't take that through all the way. Looking at the video, I wasn't sure, but was there an overhead storage bin in that class? By the way, David, this is how you know people are airplane enthusiasts, they start calling the city by the airport code.
  3. Exactly.... heh heh, but you have to admit, on an extremely long flight, this combo could be fun. Too bad they didn't put up a shower in that cabin.
  4. Anyone see the inside shots of the A380 and SIA's beyond first class cabins? Those looked pretty incredible, but holy smoke, at $10K (or something like that... inaugural pricing I think) a seat for a trip like Sydney to Singapore, that's expensive. And the CEO says that he would not prefer to see anything racy happening in the double bed cabin... http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/10/15/business/airbus.php I guess this would make mile high club a bit easier, but I wonder if it also means that these little cabins are sound proof.
  5. Bah, in SF, if you bash the military, that's usually a good thing. I was a little disappointed at the fleet week parade of ships though. What happened to the aircraft carrier that typically comes along? Are they stretched that thinly?
  6. What an interesting episode... although I do have a harder time believing that fat boy's dad is evil beyond Sylar. After all, evil typically requires some cunning, judging by the way fat boy tried to find him, those smart genes obviously skipped a generation. What a stupid cop... and probably lazy too... "what room is he in?" Hello dumbass, ever hear of stakeout? Anyone think it's possible that Nathan is the one that knocked off Sulu?
  7. well, let's check.... 0080... nope, no Haro, 0083.... hmmm, none there either, MS Igloo.... surprisingly Haro free, Wing? nope, none there either... So, Haros don't have to be in gundam shows.
  8. Geez, whatever happened to Gundam shows without frigging Haros. Saw ep 1 so far, and it's not bad. I will reserve judgment on the premise of the show until it develops more. But hopefully they'll flush out this Celestial Being organization a little more, things like where did they come from, how are they funded, etc, not like the crap they had on SEED and the Terminal. Which essentially amounted to: "we believe in Lacus, therefore we can build asteroid bases and mobile suits, and all out of thin air."
  9. Those were just names I had on top of my head... I understand that Boeing is far better off than those two entities. But still the public relations could use a little work, accordingly, Qantas was told about a month ago that everything was still on schedule. Not exactly the best sign.... I wonder if Boeing was trying to swing the BA 787 decision.
  10. every company on the outside can look great, but on the inside could be an utter disaster, and every now and then, the stuff going on inside comes out.... and then we have a mess. i.e. Enron, Worldcom there is no doubt that Boeing marketing and sales are fantastic, but their leadership is highly questionable, McNerdy ruined 3M culture before Boeing, and I'm guessing he'll probably help torch Boeing too at this rate. I think Boeing should've owned up a little earlier to the delays... at least I hope they did it privately to their lead customers. If not, they could be in real trouble.
  11. \ Saw it... reaction so far is... meh.... But certainly a fresh story line compared to beginning of Seed.
  12. It is true that the guys who are in the delivery slots for the first four years ain't gonna cancel. The cancellation risks occur for guys who are now suddenly in the same time slots that are available to Airbus. When you push the customers out six months, it has an effect down the road. Customers in the last six months of the queue might suddenly realize that there are open slots with Airbus earlier in the year, and if Airbus offers enough incentives, it might induce the latest takers to switch. The worst case right now is BA that just signed an agreement with Boeing. There are still 12 (or was it 18) more options for 787, those might not be taken up at all. Worse yet, because of the push out, undecided might swing over to Airbus, especially if there are good offers. Effectively that means the break even time for the project is pushed out by at least six months, probably more. And the delay means probably lost business. And lost profits. Remember Airbus is in the same boat with the A380, except they have the advantage of only having to compete with the 747-8I. But that hasn't helped their break even or profitability. There is no threat as far as the first four years worth of customers, the threat emerges further down the road. I am of course assuming that Airbus learned its lesson and the A350 goes out on schedule.
  13. Does that mean Ando is going to be Sulu?
  14. Yeah, but unlike the A380, Boeing is banking on the 787 for a good part of their revenue in the next few years. This is much more of a make or break for Boeing than A380 was for Airbus. So, one more slip (if it happens) becomes a real big deal, remember, A380 has something like 170 orders vs 700+ orders for the 787. Any more delays, then there is cancellation risk and an opportunity for A350 to start taking bites out of the Boeing's shares.
  15. And so it begins.... http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/boei...1A9405123DC0%7D Let the penalty round commence.... any bets on whether there is an additional delay? This will kill ANA's idea of using the planes for the Olympics... I wonder how many people at Airbus are laughing their asses off right now.
  16. I'm waiting for either Chekov or Kirk himself. And uh oh, Bennet might be dead... I wonder if this is the company screwing with him, I'm guess that the company knows what's going on with Bennet, they're trying to psyche him out. The Indian is just the conduit for now. As for DL, he's dead eh? What happened? Did he ask for too much money and the writers decide to kill him offscreen? I like the twist with Sylar.... I'm sure he'll weasel his way out.... would be fun.
  17. Oh... wonder if it's sticking around for fleet week. I don't want to drive up from the south bay to see the A380... but who knows... when does it leave?
  18. I've no doubt you're right, having flown 1st and business on different airlines, I've also had the experience with economies on all those airlines. And by far, the experience with BA was the worst. As for 1st and business, considering what you're shelling out, I expect to be treated like a king....
  19. BA has been hedging their bets for a while now... personally, I couldn't care less what airplane BA picks, I had flown BA once last year, and they're kidding themselves if they think they're the Singapore Airlines of Europe. The service sucked, they lost my bag, and it wasn't even a very long flight.... Stupid BA... By the way, anyone go out to see the A380 in SFO?
  20. I actually hope Petrelli dies at end of season, or better yet in mid season. It would make things more interesting, then it would be a nice balance with heroes and potential villians. It would put Hiro as one of the more powerful characters given his ability to teleport and manipulate time, he would be on par with Sylar at the very least.
  21. The interesting part about these Four is how they will continue to interact with the crew, and of course when the cat finally is let out of the bag, how they'll interact with the other seven models (six since we'd have to remove the Bier model). I can see Tigh continuing to be loyal to Adama no matter what, but I think either Tyrol or Sam will crack sooner or later. I wonder which of those two will be the first one outed... unless Tigh gets drunk and confesses to Adama. As for the resurrection thing, I wonder how that would be possible, unless its an entirely different resurrection ship, remember, the other seven have no idea what the final five looks like. So, at the very least, it can't be the same resurrection ship. Which makes you wonder if there might be two groups of cylons.
  22. I actually think the potential problem with Peter's character is that he is too damned powerful. So, they have to go with these plot devices to make him less of a threat. Last season it was because he was not focused, so he can't control his powers, this season, he can't remember so he might not have full access to his powers. The only one who might have a chance to take down Petrelli so far is the Haitian, provided he can get close enough. Possibly Sylar, but Sylar is limited as he has to eat to gain power, Peter just has to be in the vicinity, and beyond that, Peter probably has the ability to freeze time, something Sylar can't do. I think in the long run, that Petrelli has to die to sort of even out the playing field.
  23. I for one am glad for Youtube, I don't have to sit through Flash Gordon in order to watch the two minute episodes. I am curious to see what the old school stuff is about though, that'll be interesting. Will be sorry to see this show go.
  24. Don't you know, Lockheed was taken over by some key guys from the old Fairchild company, and they're gradually morphing the F-16 to the A-10. Soon that intake is going to sport a large gatling gun....
