  1. I refreshed a few times while waiting for Dairugger to go through. Sometimes you just gotta risk it.
  2. Nah, no tension at all. I was just kidding around. Figured he already knew. Me, personally, I'd rather we all stopped having to meet like this.
  3. It's actually next week. I'll PM you when it's up on the various sites, make sure you get one.
  4. I wondering if what you paid is less than the mark-up you would have paid. But whatever works, I guess.
  5. No. Strike Pack sold separately. Missiles also sold separately. So to have a "complete" Strike valk, you have to buy three separate items: Valkyrie + Strike Pack + Missile set.
  6. My expectations are low, and I don't blame others for just going to bed. I'm half-tempted to myself. I won't be heartbroken if I don't get it. Mainly, it's because I prefer the 1S in the yellow/black color scheme. Has much more childhood nostalgia for me, as I didn't discover DYRL until I was in college. Even if I manage to get this, I'll sell it as soon as Bandai announces the release of the other color scheme. In an ideal world, the yellow/black will be a Web exclusive and everyone who wants it will be able to preorder it.
  7. The Jaeger's actually from 0080. The Gelgoog is hands down my favorite Zeon mech, and 0083 my favorite Gundam show. I haven't collected the 0080 Damashiis, but I might pick up the Jaeger just because. If Bandai releases the Gelgoog Marine from 0083, I'd be over the moon.
  8. My mistake, then. I thought I remembered the 1J and maybe others coming back in stock cheap after they had been out/inflated a while.
  9. I said, if I had to guess, it'd be at least a year for a 1J reissue. You compared 1J to some other Macross valk as a way of saying at least 3 years or never. I also said that your kind toy panic ("it might never come back") was similar to the panic about Voltron before the reissue. For an SOC reissue, 2 years IS quick. I don't know that it'll take that long for the 1J. HMR VF-1s were getting second runs/reissues faster than that. But who knows. I could be wrong. You might be. We're both conjecturing out our asses. It's all silly but I've apparently triggered you. Not sure why you think we're saying the same thing, though. 1 year is not the same as 3 years or never.
  10. No need to get emotional. I disagreed, and I was pretty clear with what I disagreed on. I even quoted it--bold-faced and underlined--in two separate posts. I'll leave it at that. Have a good night.
  11. Uh, yeah. My point was that when something's no longer in production, people will start talking about how it'll never show up again (you said "...with no guarantee that Bandai will actually reissue it"). If it's a popular item, it'll show up again. Maybe longer than people want to wait, but still. That same hysteria people like you fanned on various forums was what drove a number of people to pay those crazy Voltron prices on eBay. Also...depends on one's view of what a "long time" means. Two-ish years between runs of a toy doesn't seem unreasonably long to me, and is outright quick for an SOC reissue. When I said, "sooner than later," I was thinking of a one-year gap, at least. There are other variants Bandai will probably want to release before doing a 1J reissue.
  12. People were saying the same thing about SOC Voltron right up until the reissue news hit. Not saying we'll see a reissue right now. But a reissue sooner than later makes a lot of sense, especially for a toy that sold this well and with so much nostalgia behind it. Plus, yes, if the GBP-1S gets released, then it's a no-brainer. Personally, I'm waiting for a VF-1S and Cannon Fodder 1-A. I've had enough 1Js to last a lifetime.
  13. Man, that's almost two years away. Oh, well.
  14. Maybe because Japan likes aspects of Western culture and likes to sprinkle English into everything, and because they speak our language better than we speak theirs (?) You can't make a judgement based on English signage. That stuff's been around since the 80s, when those toys were definitely NOT intended for a western market. There were also tin toys and diecast figures (Popy/Grip ) made of Superman and GI Joes released in Japan as well. None of that stuff was meant for Americans.
  15. Also, there have been times when Bandai feels it gets burned by over-producing for the global market (e.g., Figuarts Turtles). That's likely one reason we're not seeing a Figuarts Shredder, and a reason Bandai shies away from producing too much of its high-end stuff. Problem with the Turtles is that Bandai expected people to pay Figuarts prices, and a lot of Turtles collectors who are used to cheaper things are like, F#$K that.
  16. We're not the intended customers for Bandai's high-end stuff--that's why they don't offer us customer service. That's what some people don't get. Whether it's SOCs, Macross DX, Metal Builds, Bandai only has one market in mind--Japanese otakus. The fact that some franchises have experienced global popularity (Voltron, Robotech, Gundam) doesn't mean that Bandai is producing with those expectations in mind (unless there's something like Bluefin distribution going on). And the fact that items without popular franchises (e.g., SOC Getter Emperor) are easily available makes it seem like these things should be easily available all the time. As a result, when you've got an item produced for a small market, and everyone in the global market wants in on it, you're gonna get shortages. Scalpers don't help, but how many people are currently scalping this item on eBay? From what was reported here, there was that one random dude, who actually sold it for less than what NY is asking, and some other dude in Japan. And how many collectors bought multiples of this item? I'm not blaming those collectors either. It's just a tough situation all around. I've been on the short end too. It sucks. But if it's something I want bad enough, I just pay the price (or not) and move on. It's not worth stressing over.
  17. If Okini Land ends up being reliable, they'll start selling out in a second just like every other store. Curious, though. Hopefully, this turns out to be a real thing for those who preordered there.
  18. I should have been better about at least learning more broken Japanese, but my wife and I were able to get around okay (neither of us speaks Japanese). I never really needed to converse much, though, as I wasn't on the hunt for anything in particular. Just looking around, mostly. And we were able to navigate okay just using our phones. A lot of Japanese people speak at least a tiny bit of basic English, but I try not to presume that when I travel, though I also rely on that more than I should. Nakano Broadway is a good place to lose yourself for a few hours if you're not inclined to wander the streets from one shopping center to another in Akihabara and Den-Den Town. There are several floors' worth of Mandarake just in that one building alone. It's a nerd mecca, a very big one, and you'll probably see as many foreigners as you do actual Japanese people. This last trip, I asked my wife to be patient with me for Nakano Broadway. She's kind of a nerd, too, so that worked out well. Just don't forget to make time for stuff besides the toys. I liked seeing the deer at Nara, and Tokyo Bay was great (okay, so there's a life-sized Gundam there). The highlight of my two trips, though, have had nothing to do with toys: the Michelin-starred ramen joint Nakiryu (much better than Tsuta, IMO), and Fuji-Q and Aokigahara. We had a guide take us on a four-hour hike through the forest, in chilly January, and it was amazing. And as cool as Jungle was, my favorite part of Osaka wasn't Jungle, but the aquarium.
  19. Jungle's also the only place in Japan where I saw a glass case full of third-party TFs. I liked Den-Den Town a lot, as much as Akihabara.
  20. NY's the only one left out of those, and if it's priced the same--probably more--than that random guy's on eBay, then I don't know, I don't see the difference. I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of NY, so to me, they're scalping too, just as a business. Only difference I see is that you can't use eBay Bucks on NY. Man, and to think that I didn't much of eBay Bucks before. Really pays off, I guess.
  21. That's what I was thinking. I've got like $3.00 in eBay bucks. I can't even buy a smoothie with that. Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but eBay Bucks are use-'em-or-lose-'em, right? If so, you might want to spend that $293.
  22. That's pretty much how it works, isn't it? I hesitated just a second or two when I refreshed and saw HLJ's order button finally pop up, thinking I might not need this one. That cost me that preorder, but in the end, it worked out as I prefer Amazon Japan anyway. But yeah, losing out on the HLJ preorder and seeing how hard it was to get one made me more fired up to get one. Also, I absolutely love this variant.
  23. Cool. Well deserved, given all your help. Seems like the prices are right around this. Amazon Japan shipped is about $170, so just a little bit more. edit: You've been F5-ing since last night? Well, then, you definitely deserve this.
  24. If it makes you feel better, the VF-1's are pretty much this too. Just a new head, same toy otherwise. It's why I'm going to limit myself to just a few more key valks from the TV show, if they're made. Also, I don't know how many more of these nights I have in me. I feel like a punch-drunk fighter in the morning.
  25. Must have been a random cancellation, cause it's gone.
