  1. Yeah, the -25/29 diecast shoulder bits are "unintuitive" to get lined up, but you almost always can get them to fit with very little gappage. But it does tend to require "adjust them to where you think is right, THEN swing arm assembly into place". Trying to adjust the shoulders after the arms are in fighter mode doesn't tend to work well----have to swing the arms back out, adjust shoulder, swing arms back in.....
  2. Just my personal desire for a bit more color, a bit more like "every other valk"---pretty much all other valks have accent colors on their ventral fins----and the VF-4's are huge but bare. It's IMHO the most obvious place to make it a less "all white" valk.
  3. Started painting the ventral fins last night. Annoyingly, per my personal color chart, signal red is a perfect match for the stripes on the thighs/tailcone----but I accidentally left the cap a little loose a while ago and the bottle dried out----and that paint is now "extinct". Vallejo RAL3001 red was the closest match I could find at the hobby shop, but it's still SLIGHTLY more orange than the thigh paint. But a good match for the kite logos.
  4. Never noticed it before, but found it in a another scene too. They're clearly red----but not sure they're lights? Can't really think of a real-world equivalent for round red lights on the underside of a fighter.
  5. Not sure what you mean? I do plan to paint the "obvious-what-they-are-but-not-painted-as-such" landing lights on the wing leading edge. (Normally Yamato/Arcadia goes so far as to mold them as separate clear parts---but for the VF-4, it's like they didn't realize what they are)
  6. VF-4 is pretty bland, especially in battroid IMHO----seriously thinking about painting the ventral fins black with a red edge, as is "proper" for a Hikaru valk. It may not be canon, but canon is only like 4 seconds... (and, real military CAG/CO planes tend to get many subtle variations frequently--you can easily see small details of the paint scheme change over the course of a single year/cruise)
  7. The 10 mins of the new Frontier short has more feels and more impactful music than all of Zettai. Just imagine if it'd been reversed----10 mins of Delta, a full new movie for Frontier...
  8. How's the Maisto F50? Is it a newer mold, or "still being used from when the F50 came out"?
  9. I think I got the last one, it's out of stock now. (Hobby Search--all the other "main" dealers seem to have run out a while ago of the regular version, just $$$$ premiums left)
  10. Everyone's writing in Grace, right? In the other characters section?
  11. It's here! One missile had popped off (I was worried when I heard a piece rattling around inside) but it seems ok so far. Good thing I bought my mechanical pencil yesterday, I can start panel-lining it soon. (after I get some experience handling/transforming it though)
  12. Yes, but EMS etc from Japan isn't cheap, and BBTS has like $4 shipping, so the difference when shipped could end up being about half that. (it's actually a bit better deal than I was expecting---I was fully prepared for it to be a full $300 in the US)
  13. That's pretty much my thought, said much more succinctly/eloquently than my post did.
  14. Yes, but the markup on a valk+supers combo pack could be substantial. Especially if they decide to use a "traditional" USD-to-Yen rate, and not "what it actually is now, and is predicted to be next spring". I was going to wait for a US release, especially as it may be easier to get support if Bandai'd----but the more I thought, the more I leaned towards "well, if I'm going to possibly save the better part of a hundred bucks, I may as well at least try to get a pre-order in tonight". Also, and even more importantly IMHO---Alto's -25 is FAR more popular than the other wwm releases. Sure, it's not a Roy 1S, but it's the most visible/popular valk of the last 20 years I'd say. It may sell out quickly in the US.
  15. ::checks source code of confirmation email:: Mine's time-stamped 35 seconds after it opened, assuming AmiAmi opened at EXACTLY 11AM their time. So yeah, less than a minute for sure.
  16. I'm amazed I got one at AmiAmi----I logged into my account about 5 mins before it opened, refreshed every minute or so "just in case"---then the moment it showed up, I added to cart----but it made me log in again to actually check out! Typed as fast as I could, and it went through.
  17. I had the same thought, that they're too big.
  18. Shawn----I never knew you were so interested in Plus. (for me, it's the series that really got me into Macross)
  19. I'd assume not as expensive as it was just a few weeks ago. (should have sold mine back in July! Now I'll probably get less) Anyways, the REAL new Suikoden game coming out:
  20. I have seen a Draken and 262, but only static. Some day I'll get see the YF-23's. (I plan to see both, so two trips...)
  21. 1.5 years after I originally posted in this thread saying I'd wait for a sale---turns out it never really did go on sale, but the yen fell pretty hard against the dollar since then. So I just finally ordered a VF-4.
  22. Were any of the hollow spring-pins replaced with regular pins, in the anniversary one? It'll suck if these new ones start splitting their hinges apart after a few years like the originals. (mainly the ones around the waist/crotch area, but the nosecone one also seems a bit iffy)
  23. Not so well----leaving it in until midnight did nothing, so I let it sit overnight----still nothing this morning. Added a bit more oxi-clean and checked it around lunch-----no change to yellowing, but all the metallic grey paint around the underside of the backplate had dissolved away, leaving pure black paint. (apparently it's painted in two layers). So now I have a white+black Alto, instead of white+gunmetal. Going to sell it for parts I guess----it's still good for many parts, and some parts are still perfectly pristine white. All the black and red striping etc is still perfect, but the gunmetal grey they use for the "internal bits" mostly exposed in GERWALK mode is apparently far "weaker" paint than the rest.
