  1. If they'd just painted the whole thing gunmetal, it'd look much nicer and be a better homage. (and all-gunmetal jets do exist, the F-20 is the first one that comes to mind)
  2. How does Retributor Armor "brush"? Many gold paints lately (looking at you, Vallejo) are very "sticky" and horrible to use, even if the color is nice.
  3. My vote is gonna be a basic fighter-mode-only VF-1 kit. They make some really nice F-14s.
  4. Sandstorm's alt-mode was so exaggerated-bland it never "gave me a vibe" as to what it is. I'll take a look later and give more thoughts. Blitzwing is far from a scale model of a MiG-25 but it's still blatantly obvious what he's supposed to be. That said---the wiki is so terrible with aircraft alt-modes. I gave up trying to correct Octane, it's gone from bad to worse over the years. (he's a 747 people, engine-count be damned) ::edit:: If you assume the instructions are wrong (wouldn't be the first time), G1 Sandstorm is supposed to have a horizontal stabilizer, not an odd vertical tail tip. That does make it more SH-3 ish. However, one of the few distinct details the toy does have for sure, is three large front windows----like an H-53
  5. I don't remember the gun pod being so orange, but it's also been a while since I last watched Dynamite.
  6. That nose gear looks awfully far forward, but I couldn't quickly/easily find any references for it.
  7. It looks terrible to me, I'm thinking about picking up Thunder Manus now. The arms on the trailer stick up much further than the G1 toy or toon did, just looks ridiculous. And a hundred other smaller things bug me too.
  8. Wow, it looks like they may have actually gotten the markings right on the B-Wing. (WAY too many places put them very symmetrically/doubled, leading to orange circles all over the place) Will need pics from other angles to be sure though.
  9. Considering how many variations we've seen in the past couple years of how to fold up Magnus' arms into the top of a trailer, there's zero excuse for PM Prime's arms to be like that. It's GOT to be a mistransformation, otherwise Takara has somehow lost a ridiculous amount of engineering talent and skill recently. Making PM Prime's arms flush with the front of the trailer should be child's play compared to what we've seen both Takara and 3P companies do with Magnus' arms.
  10. The new/retro Snow Serpents have a notably brighter shade of blue, the original Classified (boxed) release use an almost navy blue. I suspect they are also a different shade of white. (plus all the gear/kit being different--no bazooka, no bazooka-backpack, etc) The Eels are 99% identical. I think the only change is the strap on the not-a-speargun is blue instead of red. Figure itself identical or so close you can't tell from pics.
  11. I thought my TV was messed up when the app went from blue to greenish-blue with no warning...
  12. Interesting, as I feel the latest Alto -25 is not as pure white as the original renewals. (At least, certainly not the "alternate" type of plastic used in some spots, like near the waist/hinges----it's not POM I think, but it's also not the "standard" ABS used for the main parts of the wings and legs etc----the previous releases seemed to have a more perfect match as-new, but those parts yellowed at different rates----the latest -25 doesn't match as well to start with, and almost looks very slightly pre-yellowed on those parts) Having the latest Alto -171 be even brighter than the original is surprising.
  13. I was legit just thinking about a Mr Mom sequel. First Batman, then Beetlejuice---I think Mr Mom is Keaton's next great role to reprise.
  14. AirWolf would be a must-buy, but I fear it's not nearly popular enough. (even if it is simply the coolest helicopter ever, period) And KARR would be even better than KITT. (everyone knows the prototypes are always better than the simplified dumbed-down production versions!) (though for me it's gotta be the later two-tone look, with yellow scanner light)
  15. My concern is that since the Delorean wasn't licensed, KITT won't quite be a Pontiac, either. (though, KITT being a Pontiac is already kinda murky---all Pontiac emblems were removed for filming, and they never say that KITT is anything other than a "Knight 2000" etc---so even if "real life" says it's a Pontiac Firebird---canonically it isn't...) So there'd be no Pontiac emblems/logos regardless, but "shape alone" is still enough to require a license, as both RiD and the Bayverse proved.
  16. That's my thought----imagine how much merchandising/revenue HG has missed out on over the years, even recently from Delta alone. The amount of concert and cosplay stuff on the 'net at its peak was insane, far surpassing Frontier from what I can tell. But HG seems to be all "nope, never going to try to take ANYTHING new, even as the market and culture changes over decades----the world ends at 1985". Instead of "antagonizing" BigWest etc and preventing global release of stuff---imagine what they could have done if they'd partnered... Sure, a Walkure tour isn't going to possibly bring in even a fraction of Taylor's, but there IS money to be made, globally, if you embrace the whole concert+cosplay+con merch of modern anime fandoms. But not if you intentionally deny the main vehicle for the franchise (the show) from being shown and focus solely on the type of stuff that sold decades ago. Sure, I want DX toys of valks, and almost nothing but. But I know that is NOT how Macross makes its money nowadays. (though Gundam sure seems to thrive on its "boxed plastic") But HG still has a merch/sales mentality that is more or less "Toys R Us in every city, with 500 small cheap action figures on the shelves" (I could be totally wrong, but that's the impression I get, looking at HG's actions, marketing, and promotion over the years)
  17. I see 4 of 4 limbs? Anyways, I am curious how these will work compared to Devastator----Mixmaster and Scavenger (legs) are Voyagers with the thought being their increased mass is logical to form legs (vs Scrapper/Bonecrusher as Deluxe arms)----yet we have no Voyager Aerialbots, and Swindle (leg) is also a Deluxe.
  18. Re: Legs in the nacelles. Am I the only one envisioning something like having the knee joints, "Z-fold up and out on several right angles", sorta like how the Yamato V2 YF-19 elbows work to position the forearms in fighter mode? The thighs would stay "in the belly" near the centerline, but with some hinges, you could get the calves "up and out" as needed to tuck away into the engine nacelles, at least somewhat. (enough to slim down the back end of the plane while keeping the ankles large in battroid mode, I imagine).
  19. Is my stance unique? Huge fan of the original---but this is basically that toy again. I legit thought the renders were the original toy for a while. Hinge-for-hinge, post-for-post, tab-for-tab, identical transformation/engineering. It's the same toy, 10% bigger, and a few small issues taken care of. But it's really not "better" or "new". Certainly not "20 years to think about it" level of improvemements/redesign. Why does Magnus still having a gapingly hollow chest in bot mode? Same huge holes at the same angles. (honestly it actually looks WORSE from some angles) I wanted a BETTER Omega Prime. Make UM a bit less hollow, not QUITE so ridiculously-proportioned etc. For all their gushing about Prime's Super Mode having better proportions, they sure ignored the one that needed it more... It's---exactly the choice I wanted, but executed horrifically. It's, the toy I already had, with a few slight changes, but very expensive. To still have almost all the flaws I was hoping would be fixed...
  20. Omega Prime is probably about my all-time fave TF toy(s), it was amazing. Would love if the Haslab is that. Though, it's almost to the point of "a newer one might not really be BETTER"----I am not impressed by the new Magmatron, and passed on it. (I loved the original Magmatron).
  21. That's how you know it's the two-seater!
