  1. Agreed. When I want to load music on a portable player (either my T-Mobile G2 or Sansa Clip+) I convert my lossless tracks to mp3 using LAME v2. Best compromise between fidelity and file size, IMHO.
  2. Heh, yeah, I should have added that. High-end audio is nuts. $15,000 for a phono cartridge? That's some serious dough.
  3. I'm not an audiophile myself, but I've heard some describe analog audio to be "warmer" than digital. Plus, there's always the nostalgia factor.
  4. I highly recommend you pick up the comics. It's a great read. The time waiting between issues is excruciating for me. But if you want to read the comics for an explanation on the outbreak, you're going to be disappointed. I don't find the sex in the comics at all distracting, in fact I find it very realistic. The characters are all human, and they have human needs, like companionship and sex. That's why early on in the series, people started pairing off. In a situation as stressful as the End Of The World, wouldn't you want to share some time with someone and get laid in the process? After all, you never know if the next day is going to be your last.
  5. The "openness" of the Android OS is what gets all the techies' panties wet. Personally, I'm not a techie, l33t, or a hax0r, but I love all the modded firmware out there. I have a G1 running CyanogenMod 5, which gave my 2+ years old phone some Eclair goodness. Yummy.
  6. It's quite sad how quickly this series went from "drama" to "melodrama." Crossing my fingers that Season 2 will fare better. I'm not giving up on it yet.
  7. No way is an Abrams surviving a direct nuclear blast. I think a large IED would be able to disable one.
  8. ^Danny Trejo would make an awesome Governor. I was utterly disappointed with the season finale. I hope that's the last time we see virtual-intelligences, big fancy computers/labs, and thermobaric explosions in this series. The season finale is the antithesis of what makes the comic great.
  9. "Let us anoint our guests in oil without using our hands." That was a great episode. I thought they were all great, with "That Darn Katz!" being the sole exception. I didn't find it funny at all.
  10. Anybody hear any casting news? I'm curious who the producers are going to pick to play Michonne. Some posters on IMDB's forums were playing "Lets Cast The Walking Dead" and Gina Torres's name was thrown out there. I think she'd be a pretty good choice.
  11. A couple of candidates off the top of my head: Detective Alonzo Harris (Training Day) Asami Yamazaki (The Audition)
  12. Kirkland didn't touch upon the issue of re-animation in the comics until around the 3rd story arc. They might tackle it as early as tomorrow's episode at the CDC.
  13. I like both, but I do agree with you that the comic is much better than the TV series. I know AMC wants to keep the series gory like the comic, but I wonder how they'll handle the Woodbury story arc. A lot of crazy, messed up stuff happened there.
