  1. Don't need transforming armor. Hardsuits ala Landmates / Bubble Gum Crisis or even Nanosuits ala Crysis game would be totally doable. Where can I put my deposit down?
  2. I have to give you props for having the balls to state your true feelings. Giving to those who give and not giving to those who don't is totally your prerogative. However, if most people feel like you, which in reality really do, then the world would not evolve to become a better place. I am 8.6+ quake survivor from 89' in California and luckily didn't need a handout get my life going while many of my fellow Californians and personal friends were totally effed. But still, I've have given to the flood victims in Louisiana, Indonesian Tsunami, and quake relief in China 2008 and 2009. I just understand what these people have endured and for those who really need help, I hope my little bit can make a difference to them. And maybe one day, those who have received help would not think twice to help someone else, not necessarily me, in need. That's my prerogative. Thank God the radiation is falling. That would impact everyone on earth regardless of their political or personal feelings.
  3. Nice review. I just got my Fewture Tachikoma from a trade and should compare it.
  4. Compared to the last Appleseed movies and GITS, quality looks "meh". Hopefully it will look better in HD. Now where is GITS 3rd GIG?!
  5. I have to agree with this. It has made my interests in collecting Macross wane since size/proportion vs dollar has been at opposites. There are a lot of other products to buy for less these days, and that is too bad in the long term for Yamato.
  6. No, that is not what we want. We want a big, affordable, perfect transforming and fully finished product. Not a cut down smaller item. For that, we can wait for Bandai to re-released their old 1/2500 DX then! Whats the point? I think you should accept this on behalf of MW and give us an indepth review with tons of pictures. There are lot of Macross fans with design, engineering and product development backgrounds here who are able and willing to offer free advice to Yamato to make this into a viable mass production item. Also, since when has 24" been "too big"? Thats the same as 2x 1/48 Battroids or nearly the same size as the 1/4 scale Minmay! I'm sure fellow MW members would gladly help you store some of your collection to make space for the SDF-1. Please reconsider and have it shipped to you ASAP.
  7. If its PU or Polyurethane, then it is a used in BUMPERS, dashboards, interior trim, seats (as a foam) in automobiles. The last project I used it was for a mass production foam product. By varying the density, you control strenght vs flexibility but am not sure if it can capture detail as good as ABS but it is a tough material when dense. As for using this material instead of ABS due to "large" parts injection, take a look at Hot Toys 1/6 Batman Tumbler. The body is assembled from multiple ABS panels and if you factor in man hours, it still cost nearly 1/10 of the proposed cost of the SDF-1. Again, I have never seen high detail parts from PU but I cannot imagine it to cost a relative 5x as much as a high detailed ABS product.
  8. Ah missed that about the spelling. Was hating too much to realize it, even though I have my Tumbler in the other room. The G System item is non licensed but even with a 20% licensing fee, it would still be only 1920 USD and is in fact a lot bigger and better than what Yamato has shown. That is list price and can be obtained for a lot less if you know where to look. And if Yamato comes out with a resin kit, they save a lot of money on the molds... no plastic, no steel molds... just resin molds... and we all can guess how much those would cost... I think its time for Captain America to save Macross fans again!
  9. When and how much? If its not too expensive, I'm going!
  10. I was told about the new price over the phone from a local Macross fan yesterday and the first thing that came out of my mouth on the price was "What the f#ck?!" I WAS also willing to put down money for this before the official price announcement but Yamato has some serious misconceptions of the global economy and how to treat their fans. I'm sure they can sell the same number of units as the first issue exclusive 1:1 helmets, which were reissued later at a fraction of the price. They screwed those initial fans who bought into the exclusivity then but then removed the chest armor for the 2nd issue. What would they do with the SDF-1? Sell less than 10 units, then reissue it 6 months later with no interior for a fraction less? Why not guage market sales and adjust the price accordingly to help sell more units to amortize their molds? If I can buy a 45 inch tall unpainted ULTRA detail 1/35 EXS Gundam resin kit for 1600 USD, or a mass production Hot Toys 1/6 Batman Rumbler for 400 USD, why can't Yamato figure out how to cost it down reasonbly? It better have MORE details than the 1/35 Gundam EXS and more playability than the Batman Rumbler with led lighting, motorized mechanisms for transformation, sound chip with all the bridge sounds + Minmay singing DYRL in DTS-ES surround sound, and FULLY PAINTED and ASSEMBLED to justify their asking price or damn them forever to produce those unsellable, overpriced PVC girlie figures that are taking up too much shelve space for much better toys. Yamato - so much hope, yet so much dissappointment.
  11. Awesome work! Great custom! We need a little out of the box thinking to keep Macross fresh. Look at all those crazy Gundam designs out there.
  12. Anybody have side by side comparisons of the Aoshima / Imai 1/48 model kits built next to the Toynami and CM offerings? Just wondering how the proportions looks in all three modes. Might be better to get the Betas and model kits for the Alphas instead.
  13. Nice review but d/l link doesn't work in HK! How about a mirror like mediafire?
  14. I voted for all of it. Yes, multiples of each color to display in all 3 modes! Do it Yamato so I can direct deposit my salary to you!!! .....
  15. Thanks for the kit summary! So I need to double up on some kits to fully outfit all basic guys.
  16. Using a super sharp and new razor blade, slice the finish you want off the extra sprues into a thin layer, cut to shape and fit n glue into the "sprue sore spots". It is hard to do but if you can pull it off, looks good enough to fool most people, especially with a clear coat. Always cut and PUSH AWAY from your body, and do not PULL the blade TOWARDS you. Good luck.
  17. PLEASE post pictures of it with say a 1/72 Valkyrie Fighter for size comparison!
  18. WOW! I was thinking about skipping it but after seeing those pictures might have to reconsider the model kit at least... The YF-19 Double Nuts in the same thread makes it a MUST BUY! Looks great in blue and white. Sorry OT!
  19. Sorry to bump an old thread but does the Michael kit include the speakers? I saw the DX toy had the optional speaker parts and pink ghost?
  20. "Dear Lord, Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord John's soul to keep. See him safely through the night, And wake me with 1/32 Legioss light. Amen" Can I get an Amen my brothers?
  21. I did the HK Toy run with a fellow MW yesterday and we saw the DX Armored Ozma and Model kits. Pickedup the model kit for him but now I'm on the fence on this. Price difference was that not far apart here ~ 50 USD difference but the high intakes up on the crotch and flaking paint complaints are putting me off the DX line but I love the BIG valks. So my question is: Has Bandai EVER re-vised the DX line at all for any of their toys? EG A version 2 of something with major engineering improvements, moreso than the little and appreciated improvements from the Armored Ozma. If they have never gone beyond the little improvements, then I'll see if I can scrounge the funds for both model and DX.
  22. Are you going to modify the groin and leg placements? I think that is one of the biggest glaring examples that needs fixing. I don't know how it will affect transformation if you did that but you can compare the model kit to see what to do.
  23. Thanks for the summary guys! Looks like I'm screwed or will be confined to a display only piece for now. BTW: Yamato hasn't been around for 20 years right? Maybe 10 at most. I wish the holy grail 1/35 Legioss (and TREAD) combo would come to be realized one day ... and not soon enough...
  24. I want to know this too and after reading through Jenius' site, I'm still a bit confused. So let me summarize if this is correct: Toynami Legioss and Tread + Near line art scale and chunkyness + Legioss and Tread mates perfectly + details (panel lines etc...) + military colors + best packaging out of the 3 - quality sucks or are the "newer shipments improved?" - floppy and saggy in many places of the legioss in fighter mold Aoshima + same as above + better quality? - brighter "anime" colors - quality only a tad better than above? - packaging is not as good CMS + best quality out of the 3 + best fit and finish - crap connector between legioss and tread - even brighter anime colors - skinny legioss deviates from lineart - crap looking landing gears - crap packaging but close to Aoshima I've been holding off so long and am looking to either build up my 1/48 model kits or pickup a set of the above. So which should I splurge on or do I wait for that 1/35 holy grail version to come out?
