  1. Watched part of the first Trekmovie ('79) on TV last night and wonder why people bitch so much about Abrams' lens flare. Did they never watch Trumbull's work?
  2. Actually, those recon drones are larger than the combat ones.
  3. Moebius used the Timeslip kit to create their master. Let's see how much corners they had to cut for injection plastic production.
  4. More pics from Shizuoka: http://masterfileblog.jp/news/2013/05/17/3764.html
  5. More pics of the Moebius kits from the classic era: http://culttvman.com/main/?p=29729 http://masterfileblog.jp/news/2013/05/18/3795.html
  6. Hasegawa has the market covered for the aircraft modelers, Bandai's kits are aimed at the occasional modeler or people who don't want to spend too much time on a kit. These VFs are meant to be handled, posed and transformed, including the repeated removal of the landing gear, which is why they look how they do. The Frontier aircraft are excellent replicas of their animated counterparts, they're just a b*tch to build.
  7. Revell's nuEnt kit at Shizuoka: http://www.1999.co.jp/blog/img/130517ptome31.jpg So far the Aztek pattern is not a decal.

  9. I'm an avid supporter of that rule, only in this case the exception works very well. It sells the impression of the scout vessel silenty passing the planet's surface, the dynamic of an angular position is not needed here. What I would have changed is the position in relation to the center of the base, I think it would look more balanced if the legs extended the edge of the base. Nice to see this great spaceship design getting some love.
  10. The kits from Zero had pretty good pilots, and if this one doesn't, Studio Starforge will have to make some.
  11. ...especially given the lack of new real world superplanes.
  12. "Chronicles,,," tried to broaden the scope (and failed), this looks just like "more of the same" - and the first movie wasn't even that good to begin with. Production standards look like what we get in TV series now, I wonder how much people they hope to lure into the cinemas with this film, especially with all the big screen stuff like "Pacific Rim" and "Ender's Game" around this year.
  13. Problem is, we don't have a general Ace Combat thread (only the most recent game) nor a general modeling thread, so this thread is the place to go for the AC fans and aviation moldelers . Of course this is only a lame excuse to plug my AC models: Hasegawa Delphinus 3 Bandai Falken
  14. Best kit announcement of Shizuoka: http://masterfileblog.jp/images/2013/05/17/hs_hasegawa01.jpg
  15. It has to be said that the pilot actually does look good. Is there any indication how this kit is received in the japanese modeling community?
  16. It comes to my mind that someone described the experience of the second Transformer movie as "being hit over the head repeatedly with a very expensive train set". He ain't seen nothing yet. I fear that someday someone will feel the need to top this. Well, we may get our live action Evangelion then...
  17. I wonder how far you would get with using parts from the Hase kit with this one for one massive kit bash...
  18. You forgot to mention the rows of 19th century frigate gun ports(?) at the sides of the secondary hull.
  19. New kits on display at Shizuoka (scroll down): http://blog.yahoo.com/cybergundam/articles/1228089/index Love the camo on the smaller Gamilas ship.
  20. From the look of the trailer - is Bondarchuk Russia's answer to Baz Luhrmann?
