Presenting the thread dedicated to Bandai's high-end action figure lines:

S.H. Figuarts
S.H. Figuarts is Bandai's answer to Kaiyodo's Revoltech and Max Factory's Figma lines, with figures that boast extreme detail and poseability, coupled with a vast array of features and accessories. The line consists mainly of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai figures, but there are also figures for anime characters from Dragon Ball, One Piece, Tiger & Bunny and Doraemon, as well as Hollywood blockbusters like Star Wars and the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Here's an example: Juzo Fuwa from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (a.k.a. Deker from Power Rangers Samurai), a Tamashii Web exclusive:

The line also includes S.H. Figuarts Zero which consists of non-poseable anime statues that are well-detailed. Here's Himura Kenshin from Rurouni Kenshin:

D-Arts
D-Arts focuses on video game characters, as well as the Digimon series. The D-Arts line was dropped after 2014, with newer video game character figures being released under the S.H. Figuarts line. Here are Rockman X (MegaMan X) and Rockman Zero (MegaMan Zero) (1st Version):

S.H. MonsterArts
S.H. MonsterArts is for the kaiju fan who demands a lot of detail and poseability that normal monster figures lack. Here's Godzilla:

Ultra-Act
Ultra-Act is for hardcore fans of the Ultraman series, as well as Tsuburaya Productions' other works. Here's Ultraman:

As a fan of the Big G, I've been focussing on the MonsterArts and all the web exclusives. Still waiting for Little Godzilla and his crystal prison, and later on Fire Radon/Rodan and King Ghidorah. Since they're focussing on the 90s films, I'm hoping for Mecha-King Ghidorah and Destoroyah with Super X-3 at some point. :D

After eagerly awaiting the SH MonsterArts King Ghidorah, I was pretty disappointed after finally getting one. The left wing doesn't stay up and falls down, the right head/neck is really loose and won't stay up either. And the same head pops off at one of the joints if you even look at it funny.

Fortunately I bought it from HLJ. Their customer service is superb when it comes to defective things bought from them. After a few emails back and forth with their trouble dept, they said they have gotten a lot of complaints about King Ghidorah

Huh. I just got one from HLJ too, and it's pretty solid. Or maybe I have lower standards. ;)

Very nice, but I'm already so invested in the Revoltech line of Iron Man figures that Bandai's offer is too little too late. I'm fairly sure the S.H. Figuarts will be better quality, without revo-joint compromises to the sculpts, and not as wobbly as Kaiyodo's, but at 140mm they're 15mm shorter and are likely to be twice as expensive as the Revos, and I've read quite a few complaints over the years about Figuart ankles being flimsy and unstable.

To me, as good as it looks, it's an easy pass.

Now, if they were to make Macross character figures and/or BGC ones, or even GiTS SAC, in that line they'd have my full attention. ;)

Anyone here remember a TV show called Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad? Bandai released Ultra-Act figures of the main character from the show's original incarnation Gridman. Gridman (a.k.a. "Servo") came out late last year while Thunder Gridman (a.k.a. Synchro) was just released last month.

Here are a couple of video clips to refresh your memory:

Can anyone read the info at the bottom of this page?

http://tamashii.jp/special/shma/index.html

EDIT: Ignore this. I realized it's an advertisement for a book that was released 02/2012. Not sure why they are advertising a book that's over a year old and out of print.

Pictures of my collection thus far :)

WHY WOULD YOU MAKE THAT WEB EXCLUSIVE???

Because Super Sentai is still a niche market for adult collectors. The shows don't get ratings as high as Kamen Rider, so Bandai feels it's too risky to sell every Super Sentai character on a retail basis.

However, there is a chance that Bluefin USA may have this on Toys "R" Us shelves later this year.

I know, but MMPR is my childhood. And so is Sailor Moon, so at least I've got that. ^_^ Edited by anime52k8
