mechaninac
I'd be exited and saving up my pennies if it were a TV SDF-1, but another, non-scale, DYRL version, and for 7500 Yen no less = pass. Besides, based on the image, my 1/5000 Wave movie color edition looks better.
Loop
I took it to be a con exclusive, but I could be wrong.
IXTL
Its an online shop exclusive. Release date and order period TBA.
David Hingtgen
Not TV-style, not purchasing. Serously, why do they only do the more complex/detailed DYRL ones? TV-style should be much cheaper/quicker/easier to produce....
Kyp Durron
No T.V. version = no sale from me. Easiest pass ever.*EDIT* Wait a tick, only 4.3 inches long and they want 7500 yen!? WTF are they smoking? Edited February 9, 2014 by Kyp Durron
jenius
Does it come with a little diorama of the SDF-1 sitting in a lake with the city around it?

Valkyrie addict
"What is that? A SDF-1 for ants???" hahaha, indeed!! why so small, why can't they reissue to order the old SDF-1? Already have a wave 1/5000

SuperSenpai
No T.V. version = no sale from me. Easiest pass ever. *EDIT* Wait a tick, only 4.3 inches long and they want 7500 yen!? WTF are they smoking? This. I'd like to see a release of a TV SDF-1 as much as the next guy, but even if this was a TV SDF-1, 7500 yen for 11 cm is a pass for me. I know most collectors think $$$ = size, at least to a degree, and so a smaller toy should cost less than a more expensive one. I wonder if the design and manufacturing costs for a smaller scale toy don't scale in the way in the way we think it should. I could see it being as expensive, or even more expensive, to design and manufacture a small toy with a good level of detail since its probably more difficult to pack features into a smaller space. Making a small scale toy that can transform probably also presents its own set of challenges, translating to more cost. That might explain why toys like the Bandai Hi-Metal were not that much cheaper than a Yamato V2 1/60, even though it was much smaller. Mechamaniac
The inset pic at the bottom right looks like it might come with a protoculture city miniature??
Renato
a smaller toy should cost less than a more expensive one. By definition, any toy costs less than a more expensive one. The inset pic at the bottom right looks like it might come with a protoculture city miniature?? I was wondering that too. It looks like that'll be an exclusive for the online shop orders or something... the text is too tiny to read properly, but that's what I could make out. Newtype78
For ants indeed. It says "mini", I know... I like seeing a new SDF-1 toy but not a 110mm height/length version that is priced at 7500 yen. More than the price, the reduction of detail is what I'm mainly concerned with. At the size that this is going to be produced at, you can't have the fine detail that a larger scale representation would possess. The SDF-1's design is filled with intricate detail that I would sorely miss in a roughly 4" representation.
aaajin
4 inch and hardly any complex transformation mechanism for $75? pass!
Benson13
"What is that? A SDF-1 for ants???" It has to be at least three times bigger.
Mommar
I'm sorry but I think Arcadia, and Yamato before them, don't seem to realize that while the DYRL version of the SDF-1 is more popular in Japan the rest of the world is far more familiar with, and wants, a SDFM version in 1/3000 scale. I'm sure some fans in Japan will buy them too. This? Not interested.
Benson13
I'd love a SDFM SDF-1. I'd chuck my Bandai one into traffic if I got one to replace it. Any idea what that is outlined in red in the bottom right corner?
xrentonx
Looks interesting if it comes with a diorama but that price is pretty steep.
Tking22
This is interesting, but seriously, where is a decent TV version, the DYRL version Yamato put out never grabbed me.
Twoducks
Them ants can keep it. TV or nothing.
Raya1823
Must find, must find!! Oh Benson13 throw that SDF-1 my way if want.
jvmacross
Looks like an homage to the old Nichimo SDF-1 kit which also came with a mini section of South Ataria.......not sure why Arcadia's would be so expensive....maybe some unannounced gimmicks... Kyp Durron
Can someone please get on Mr. K's twatter and kindly ask him what the f*ck they're smoking to even think about offering something like that? And while you're at it, ask him Y NO T.V. SDF-1?! Edited February 9, 2014 by Kyp Durron
jvmacross
The only positive to this odd release is that it is not a TV SDF-1....last thing we need if for Arcadia to "test the waters" for a TV SDF-1 release with something like the mini release, have it sell poorly, and conclude that no one wants a 1/3000 version... mechaninac
too small, too expensive. pass. And it looks like an SD piece to boot... way too wide for its height. The crew at Arcadia must be smoking some really funny $#!7.
Frogze
Photo from mechadamashii.com 2014-02-09-13.46.04.jpg I do want it, even if everyone else is pass on this one I think it looks cool, especially with the in-scale city bit underneath. I think it'll look awesome next to my 1/3000. Also the small scale makes the transformation even more impressive, it reminds me of what the Hi-Metal line attmpted. Maybe it'll fail for the very same reasons though, but I'll support it regardless
Mommar
Just tweeted him... in English. "Why not 1/3000 SDFM instead?" with a pic. His foreign fans need to let him know a lot of us we're more familiar with and want the TV version.
jvmacross
I'm interested if pre-painted and comes with everything shown in the pic posted.... If only they could start including diorama pieces with the rest of their releases......
Rabidweezil
Does it actually say it's transformable? Maybe it's just two SDF's stuck in the different modes.
Valkyrie addict
maybe this will go along with the non-scale Bodolza watermelon.
