Can you get Hasegawa Spares?

Experimenting with gold tinting canopies last night and I made a mistake...

...kind of funny, kind of stupid, kind of moronic even... yeah a mistake.

I wanted to remove the tint to redo and as I was using ALCLAD II Laquers it dried fast and hard. So after trying to get it off with testors thinners and airbrush cleaner I had an idea... a stupid one looking back.

I dropped the canopy into some Tamiya Thinners...

Came back later to get it and...

...its gone. More accurately its no longer a solid and has 100% dissolved into solution!

SO... is it possible to source replacement VF-1D canopies? Yeah... thats the worse part... its a rare 2 seater!

You'd think a qualified Bomb Tech would know better... you'd think...

I have a friend who was able to get parts for some Hasegawa kits when he discovered them missing from the kits. Also if you want to tint a canopy, try adding the color to some Future floor wax when you go to dip your canopy's.My buddy tried it with F-16 canopies especially since the newer tinting has a green hue to it. I messaged him to find out how well it worked. He tried this a while back.

I've sorted getting the part. Thanks all.

Was messing round with the tinting as I have already tried a version of the tinted Future method with great success. I used a mix of yellow and red food grade colouring and a few drops of Modelmaster Gold Acryl in a bottle of Future to tint a canopy in the Gold F16 HARM style. Worked really well. I assumed I'd be able to do even better with the Alclad 2 Tint... I was wrong.

So technically you still have the canopy but in liquid form.

yeah... I guess if I had a mold I could poor the Thinners in and hope it evaporated to leave a nice shiny new canopy but...

.. well you got to have dreams I guess.

It makes for a great magic trick though

Just for future info here a link for Hasegawa. This should help anyone else who may need replacement parts. Http:/hasegawausa.com/techsupport html

Won't work for the Macross kits. They're only available in Japan, so spare parts would have to come from there.
