Well, between bad painting weather, being sick, and my growing disdain for all things Bandai Macross transformable, this spent WAAAAAY too long on my bench. However, finally finished it.

Yes, it does go into fighter mode; however, it's so poorly designed that it's actually resting on the arm armor, not the landing gear. There's no way to properly tuck the arms up high enough. Also, they use some type of soft crappy plastic for arm and leg attachment points. Good luck changing positions or modes without a litany of curses.

Agreed. Got it as a gift from someone a few years back. After building it, I keep it in GERWALK mode on a stand - surprisingly, that's the most stable mode, and the standard Gundam stand peg size snugly fits into where the head goes.

That's really excellent! And inspiring. Hoping to get around to building my own someday...

I warn you now- it can be a royal pain. Poor fit on some parts, questionable use of materials on Bandai's part, and just general wonkiness. Honestly, if it wasn't a present, I wouldn't have built it. But, you gotta do the best you can sometimes.

On the kits behalf - we should keep in mind that it was made old school style (ie: pre-CAD), and to treat it as such (lots of flash that needs to be cleaned up, and the aforementioned poor fit).

Though the questionable materials is unforgiveable!

Yes. For those that don't know, the parts that hold the arms, and the pegs that hold the legs are made out of some material that's a step up from poly-caps in solidness, but no where near the solidity of plastic. Also, glue doesn't affect it at all, and you need a little for the arm assembly to fit right.
