  1. There is a scene in a previous episode where Kamjin faces Hikaru over the Macross deck, and both are dubious to shoot. Then Kamjin goes "He's not bad...". I think that's when Kamjin got the "ace" impression about Hikaru.
  2. * Xbox 360 -> 1 chip, 3 identical cores in it, all running at 3.2GHz. 512 MB of general purpose RAM, 10 MB extra for GPU caché (that can access main memory too). * PS3 -> 1 chip, 1 core for coordination and simple operations and 7 more for advanced vector operations, all running at 3.2 GHz. 512 MB, 256 of them for CPU (general purpose), the other 256 for GPU. * 512 MB of memory in PCs vs. 512 MB in consoles -> consoles don't need: 1) Several programs at the same time (antivirus + browser + game + whatever) 2) Thus, a multi-tasking operating system 3) a GUI for the OS 4) multiple drivers (apart from GFX card, printers, keyboard, mouse, motherboard and what not). So yeah, 512 MB are bound to be pretty good for a next-gen console. Xbox had 64 MB total (including video memory) and the games looked as good as its contemporary PC versions.

    Macross MMO

I like the choice of openscenegraph as a graphic engine. It's a wonderful, proven and stable engine. And the code being free totally rules

    Macross MMO

In case you ever go beyond the "wouldn't it be cool if..." (hey, I can dream too), this game/engine has been used for a Privateer remake, and right now MMO capabilities are being coded in it: http://vegastrike.sourceforge.net/
  5. Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Queen, Guns'n'Roses, The Beatles, Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd, Yoko Kanno's soundtracks (specially Cowboy Bebop), Noubuo Uematsu's 90s works, and nowadays I have a worrying fixation on listening Tenshi no Enogu continuously (on the other side it has provided me with some welcome social isolation in my computer lab).
  6. Wow. Blade Runner. That movie is perfection. I'm not trying to be subjective here, I really mean it. Incredible performances, from Rutget Hauer to Daryl Hannah, some of the best lines EVER heard in a film, special effects that 23 years later still look believable, wonderful soundtrack that doesn't get annoying anytime, some of the best images ever seen on a screen, and best of all: a script that brings forth phylosophical and ethical dilemmas without getting carried to being totally explicit in a lame way or going astray to a self-masturbatory exercise by the director (you know, the last episodes of Evangelion and stuff like that). And the story is so well crafted that there are tons of food for thought, like the stick figures made by Gaff or the final lines of Roy Batty. And then there's the people that think it's boring but liked the flying cars. And yes, it's unbelievable that a movie with NO SCHWARZENEGGER reaches perfection. I still wonder why.
  7. Try renaming it the same as your .avi file (except with the .sub extension), and keeping it in the same folder. Then play the .avi with WMP. If subtitles still don't show, try using the .srt extension for the sub file. Also check that in the menu, "View->Captions" is checked. I guess you can integrate the subs in the movie file using software as virtualdub, but never tried myself.
  8. I've got a .sub file with a hardly accurate translation. Guess someone could fix it if he has the time & knowledge. MF2012subs.zip
  9. When I watch the backgrounds in the journey part (when she meets the pilot) I feel like I'm contemplating XIX century engravings. I just love it, can't wait for more translated chapters.
  10. I haven't watched the OVAs, but if they don't have the "Wanna be an Angel" song, I'm sure I won't like them better than the movie
  11. Damn, that just reminds me of Otaku no Video. The idea of getting my (future-or something) gf to cosplay as Minmay made me horny. Then I thought about it and felt like a total dork.
  12. Maybe I just read your post wrong but do you have something against environmentalist and that kind of thinking? I sure hope you realize he's not the only one who's had that theme recurrent in his works. I don't see anything wrong with that at all. It's not a bad thing to think of the world's envrionmental future when you consider polution levels. Hayao Miyazaki must be the ultimate tree-hugging hippie to you if it bothers you that much. Alot of writers and artist ahve recurrent themes in their works. This is no different. (I know I've been told I ahev too much death and destruction in mine) As someone who didn't watch Earth Girl Arjuna, but watched Macross Zero, I think the problem with Kawamori is he just wants to show environmentalism at all cost in his series. Not like environmentalism is bad itself. It's bad when, instead of setting an story where nature has a helluva influence or is even the basis for the story (just like what Miyazaki has been doing for decades), you just shove it down the audience's throats, and not being subtle at all. If you watch the 4th episode of Macross Zero, the whole forest scene is irritating. In the middle of a prosecution, the characters start the whole "progress is evil", "luv da forest" and "ohhhh, fireflies glow when we sing" psalms, and for the first time in the series, I wanted the doctor to start talking again about protoculture. Now, consider that whole propaganda was to be lost in the story of SDF Macross, the girl's hate to foreigners had a deeper basis than pollution and try to guess why there were *minutes* of plot lost there. Perhaps if I was 6 to 12 years old I'd learn something. Being 23 and having the average knowledge about ecology, I found the whole nature subplot in Zero totally superfluous and forced. After all, unlike Mononoke or Nausicaa, the plot doesn't even show the slightest need for it.
