Well, The kit arrived today and is much larger than I thought it would be. I think I will go with the painting sub-assemblies route. I just will need to plan it out accordingly.

I'm getting back into building Macross kits (~25 year hiatus actual model kits). My wife got me a Muv-Luv Alternative F-15 Strike Eagle kit at an anime festival that got me interested in doing this again. So, I've ordered the Hasegawa VF-0S Armored kit and a new flush cut nipper. Are there any tips or tricks you can give me? I am planning on painting the parts on the sprues and then touching them up after assembly. BTW, I miss the days when discount stores would have bins of anime model kits that they bought on a huge discount. Also, as a present for my wife, I will be building the Hasegawa Space Battleship Arcadia (she's a big Captain Harlock fan). So, if you have any tips or tricks for that one, that would be appreciated to. I have not been completely out of model building and painting. I've been doing stuff for miniature gaming the past couple of years. Here's an example of my work.
