Nothing really new but here's another photo of the poster shown at WF2012 advertising the 17D.

Earlier pics of the 1/60 VF-17D made the stripes look white but they look to have a slight tinge of blue in this photo.

1/60 SF-3A Lancer II SLA Model

Starting a new thread on this subject since this model has now graduated from the virtual realm into the real world as a 1/60 scale SLA resin model. The original thread can be found here.

I would be remiss if I neglected to point out that the overall proportions are based on Shin's and Talo's excellent line-art that was posted in the Macross Lineart and Profile Color Scheme Art thread (my heartfelt appreciation for all you do), and the sizing is based on total lenght of 18.36m (60.24ft) with cannons... this thing is big!

So, after a few tentative attempts building some minor parts in order to zero-in on the correct amount of clearance to include in each part so as to make assembly easier, and some re-evaluation of parts break-down, I was finally able to have the company's SLA machine all to myself for an over-the-weekend build. The attached images tell the story:

Now comes the hard part... a lot of sanding in order to eliminate the fine stair-stepping intrinsic to SLAs.

Over a year after it was announced, Disney's decided to uncharactaristically unveil the first episode of the new series for free on youtube.

Just watched the whole thing, and after expecting absolutely nothing from a Disney XD series, I was totally blown away. The story, design style, acting, execution, all suprisingly awesome. Dare I say better than the first episode of the new Thundercats series. The character design & animation reminds me of a combination of Tron Legacy & the old Out Of This World PC game series. Dare I say this first episode was so good i totally expect this series to get canceleld becasue there's no way I trust a kids cable network to support it. Here's hoping I'm wrong and it has a full story arc run. I also hope they can keep up the story & animation quality, but considering it's got a heavy dose of CG, the aesthetic should at least hold up.

Oh, and did I mention Starbuck is the voice of the grid?

Today the 1/7 scale model of Bin Laden's compound was displayed to media. I was wondering if any one else had any cool links to models of this nature. Fine Scale Modeler has had some pretty cool articles over the years of CIA models and their makers, and it's pretty fascinating how they do/did what they do.

I've been spread between doing the 1/24 build up (should have an update this week), casting the other pods and working on this a bit, so thought it might be nice to share a bit of progress. Right now i have almost all the major parts at least "roughed in" with some detailing started on some of the parts. I still have the usual stuff to refine, scratches, small changes, more detailing etc. as well as some scratch work to do on various smaller parts. Main body thruster is a casting. I am hoping to have this done for display at WF contest tables, but not sure if that will happen. More as it comes. Soda can and drill for scale, this thing is HUGE!

Famitsu.com has broken the first news on the upcoming Bluray release of Do You Remember Love.

The film will come in two flavours: the standard Hybrid Pack edition for 7140 yen and the Hybrid Pack 30th Anniversary Box for 13800 yen.

Both versions include a packed in game ‘My Boyfrend’s a Pilot 2012’ on the movie bluray disc itself.

The Hybrid Pack will include the following extras:

I did some searching for a thread dedicated to just showing off entire Macross collections and displays and there were only a few threads with individuals posting only their collection. Or there were collection pics hidden in other threads about display cases or toy pictures. I love to see how people display their toys so here's a new thread where everyone can participate to share their collections.

This is a new dedicated thread for people to show off ONLY pictures of their Macross Collection Displays. You can post pictures of how you display them whether it's in a cabinet, glass displays, book cases, whole rooms, etc.

NO pictures of individual toys since there is already a thread for that. Lets see all our Macross collections in 1 place!

I'll start by showing off a section of my rearranged Macross toys in my custom detolf cabinet displays. I'm still working on rearranging the rest of the room so i'll post those later.

WANTED: 1985 matchbox SDF-1 parts

I recently managed to buy a mostly-intact transforming 1985 Matchbox SDF-1 on ebay.

For the most part, other than yellowing of the white plastic, the toy is in pretty good condition.

I would like to find some parts though to fix it up. (see attached reference pic at end of this post). I may add on to my wants list after it finally arrives (other than the boom tips, its a bit hard to see how off-white the body/bridge area has gotten).

1985 Matchbox SDF-1 parts wanted:

- at least one of the four "long shoulder guns" (these typically are broken on used SDF's). If you have more than one, great, I may be willing to buy the others so that I have spares.

- an unused sticker/decal sheet (or a good scan of it)

- the white forward parts of the main gun (each has two tiny little pointy bits. I would like them intact.) OR if you can't remove those parts (or don't know how) then I can just as easily buy the whole boom.

- the "front wheels door cover" (underside of main body).

PRICING

I've no idea if there is an existing guide for prices on the parts or not.

I figure the more rare the part, the more you could probably ask for it. I'm hoping though to find the parts cheap.

I would be using paypal to pay for the parts.

SHIPPING

Obviously I'd be paying to cover shipping. I'm in Canada. Given the small size of the parts, you can probably bubble-wrap them into a small box (like an empty matchbox or bandages box or something) and then mail it in a bubble-wrap envelope (which you can buy at most dollar-stores and most post offices, usually for under $3.00 USD)

Okay the idea behind this thread is simple, users tend to ask questions that are, for better words, either easy to find common knowledge or sound pretty funny. You don't want to look stupid and we don't want to have mod a bunch of little topics.

It's only for newbie-type and short question/answer type questions about Macross.
When someone post a simple question here hopefully one the more experienced posters will tell the newbie the answer.
It's Question & Answer-format only. Nothing more.
Newbies tend to be lazy and ask questions about everything. If you can point the newbie to the source it's better than just telling them the answer straight.
If you see a newbie question about Macross somewhere else direct them here and their other topic will be closed/deleted.

Went to Target this morning to look for the Transformers Prime Season 1 Blu-ray set. No dice. They can stock stupid crap like The Tooth Fairy 2 on Blu-ray, but not Transformers, I guess.

They did have the DVD version though, if you need that.

I wound up ordring it on Amazon. I'm using to paying more for Blu-rays than DVDs, but double? Yeesh.
