Macross 2000 Calender
By Graham Parkes 10/10/99

The Macross year 2000 calendar is now available. The title is "Macross Digital Gallery 2000". Cost is supposed to be ¥800, but with the mark-up that shops here in Hong Kong add, I ended up paying the equivalent of US$14.06. As usual, the calendar consists of 7 pages including the cover and is B4 size.

The calendar has an absolutely gorgeous cover picture by Hidetaka Tenjin of VF-1 Valkyrie Maniax fame http://www.tky.3web.ne.jp/~tenzin/macross/index.html. For those of you who don't know, Hidetaka Tenjin also did the beautiful cover art for the Japanese version of VF-X2.

The cover of the calendar shows the YF19 in Battroid mode and the YF-21 in Fighter flying mode high above some clouds.

The January / February picture is also by Hidetaka Tenjin and has a Destroid Monster standing in front of the bridge of the SDF-1.

March / April also by Hidetaka Tenjin. shows a VF-1S Strike Valkyrie in Fighter mode firing missiles, Gunpod and beamguns. The lower half of the picture shows Hikaru in his flight suit from the shoulders up.

The May / June illustration by Kenichi Iguchi (anybody heard of him?) shows two top views of a VF-1 Valkyrie in Fighter mode.

July / August is basically the picture from the 3rd & 4th page of the Macross Plus Movie Edition Film Program and shows an upside down YF-19 in fighter mode covered in flames rushing towards that weird looking Sharon Apple crucifix symbol that is surrounded by chains, spinning gear wheels etc.

September / October is by Kenichi Iguchi again and shows a front view of VF-19 Fire Valkyrie in fighter mode with orange clouds below and behind the VF-19.

November / December again by Kenichi Iguchi has a VF-1S Super Valkyrie in fighter mode in the center of the picture surrounded by smaller pictures of characters from all the various Macross Anime.
