the "This is Animation Special" books for Chojikuu Yousai Makurosu (Super Demension Fortress Macross) are laid out in a 3-part format. Book 1 details animation from Epsiodes 1-7 ("Boobytrap" to "Goodbye Mars"), book 2 covers from episodes 8-18 ("Longest Birthday" to "Pineapple Salad") while book 3 covers episodes 19-36 ("Bursting Point" to "???" *the robotech episode equivilent is "to the stars")
Each book features a small fold-out two-sided poster at the beginning:
Book 1: Minmay holding a minmay doll/SDF-01 in cruiser mode, Prometheus sticking out
Book 2: Minmay in Tanktop and shorts/Frame-by-frame of the opening theme sequence
Book 3: Misa with a dog on her shoulder/ famous shot of the Storm-Attacker SDF-01 with Valkyries in front of it as seen during "Force of Arms"
Book one has frame-by-frame animation of all relevant episodes with captions underneath. There is a section devoted to lineart for characters, mecha, vehicles, and various odds and ends also. After that is a few pages of Model-box art which I believe is from the original IMAI lineup. There are several color cell-pictures of various mecha and craft, including color photos of the airshow valkyries. A large portion of the next section is devoted to background scenes that many of the early episodes are animated against. Naturally there is a section devoted to interviews with the folks from Studio Nue as well as the seyiuus (voice actors) for each character. The last page has pictures of various pieces of Macross merchandise.
Book two also contains frame-by-frame pictures throughout the appropriate episodes, with captions. Followed is a small set of paintings of various things from the series. Next is the standard lineart section detailing everything that is new to those episodes as well as a "Gals" section that has a bio page for all of the leading females in the story. More background paintings and interviews follow and the last few pages have sheet music manuscript images as well as lyrics for some of the BGM sang by Mari Ijima.
Book three features the standard frame-by-frame artwork for the final episodes. Lineart follows, offering images of various small gadgets and whatnot that are used throughout the series (heh.... lineart for Hikaru's MAILBOX!?!?). More paintings and cell-colored photos from the episodes follow. The final interview section details the origins of Macross and what it originally was to be (pictures of "Battlecity Megaload" are present, as well as concept sketches for Misa and Hikaru). There is also a picture of what the original SDF-02 Megaroad was to look like (along with Admiral Misa). There are a few pages about Mari Ijima in the recording studios (she did a lot of her work with a Takatoku VF-1J Hikaru on her stand! and another page or so of music manuscript and lyrics.
All in all, this set is a must-have for any major Macross fan. My only real gripe is that the screen-captures for the frame-by-frame seem to capture most of the worst animation moments in the whole series. One or two of the animation "errors" make it into the book (sorry guys, the fabled "YF-1R" didn't make it, nor did the "Q-rau buster" Missile-finned VF-1 that Max flew) there ARE some nice moments though! These books tend to average $20 or so, with the whole set usually selling for around $45 (strange logic, but for the most part, that's how I've seen it). While I've never seen the Macross "Perfect Memory" book, I'm sure everything here is represented there. The cover art is really nice and the posters are kinda cool (if you like Minmay especially... if not, the reverse sides are for you! . I think these books are worth it for the line-art alone... I'm a big fan of stuff like that and if you are too, then these are the books for you!
overall 7-10. Screenshots could've been better most of the time, but blame it on the animators!

I don't know if you know this but if you are a person who has to complete a series, then your still missing #1 and #2. The ones you have are numbered 3, 5, and 7. #1 has the blue cover and #2 has the red cover. Those are harder to find than the later three. I have #1 and it is thicker than 3, 5, and 7. You should try looking for these. I'm still looking for number 2. I got number three back in 98 for 35 bucks. I would recommend you to get these if you must have the whole TIAS macross books. Good luck.

actually, #3, 5, and 7 are pretty easier to find. Alias, on these boards has like two sets of these for sale. You should contact him to if you want a set. Here's a link to his for sale list:
