Commemorative Macross Plus Theatrical Screenings Announced

During the Macross Fanclub Net Meeting last night it was announced that Macross Plus Movie Edition would be screened in theatres for the first time in 18 years to commemorate the upcoming release of the Bluray boxset.

The screenings will be held at a limited number of locations throughout Japan and will be all-night marathons that include: Macross Plus Movie Edition, Do You Remember Love, and one of the two Macross F movies (which one is screened depends on session and location) . Additionally, one screening in Tokyo will include a 30 minute ‘talkshow’ by Shoji Kawamori and Isamu Dyson’s VA Takumi Yamazaki. Attendees will recieve a commemorative clear file.

New FB7 Package art revealed!

This one sneaked in under the radar — Amazon JP has revealed the new box art for the “Macross FB7 Ore no Uta wo Kike!” movie Blu-ray set. Oh, and it’s FANTASTIC.

Mylene Night #03 Report: Chie sings Macross Plus

February 2nd, 2013 was a date that will be remembered for many things. For one, it was the birthday of Mylene Jenius (-18!). Of course, this meant that Chie Kajiura held another one of her ‘Mylene Night’ concerts to commemorate Mylene’s birthday. Most importantly though, February 2nd 2013 was the day that Chie irrefutably claimed the title of Macross cover queen, something that most people had previously attributed to Megumi Nakajima.

How? Two words. Macross Plus.

New Macross Merchandise (03/15)

The Oshare Macross Exhibit will be opening in Kyoto for the first time ever from March 23rd to March 31st. This means two things: (1)Some sort of signing event (in this case, a Hidetaka Tenjin autograph session for the first 100 customers who spend 3000yen or more on opening day) and (2) NEW MERCHANDISE!

One of the most interesting new items is a new 3D poster based on a piece by Hidetaka Tenjin. While this piece isn’t new, it has apparently undergone some ‘retouches’ for this latest version. The 3D poster will cost 2100yen and will be sold exclusively at the event (for now)

Macross 30 is Out & Unboxed!

It’s been February 28 for all of 1hr 20mins here in Japan, meaning that Macross 30 has officially been released! Since Japan doesnt do midnight launches, most people will have to wait until tomorrow to get their hands on the game. In the meantime, let’s take a look at some unboxing pics. Many thanks to Save who not only took the pics, but also tramped around Akihabara today to get some photos from the release of Haruka Chisuga’s OP/ED single for the game.

Because if you gotta train in a VF-0A, you might as well paint it the appropriate colors.

New Macross 30 Animated Trailer

The latest trailer for the upcoming PS3 game Macross 30 – Ginga wo Tsunagu Utagoe has gone live on Bandai Namco Game’s youtube channel. The trailer focuses on the games newly animated scenes (and therefore includes no actual gameplay footage) but features more than a few familiar faces.

The latest in Shinjuku Marui One’s Oshare Macross in-store exhibits – ‘Oshare Macross VD (Valentine’s Day) – opened on Wednesday, February 6th, to 3-degree temperatures, chilling winds, and snow. As with past exhibits, the latest Oshare Macross is rather small in scale and is made up of three main attractions:

(1) Merchandise – a Macross-themed store on the first floor featuring several new and exhibit-only items and a whole bunch of other Macross stuff, fashion design collaborations with popular brands, Macross-themed sweets or deserts

(2)A small exhibit of Macross-related art – this time for the upcoming Macross 30 PS3 game

(3)Some sort of autograph session with a special guest which is usually held at a later date mid-way through the exhibit.

This exhibits special guest was actually the same as the previous one’s (Oshare Macross 30) Hirotaka Marufuji. If Marufuji’s name isn’t a familiar one it should be. He was the Chief Animation Director on Macross Frontier meaning that he has drawn Sheryl more times than Risa Ebata herself. He adapted many classic Macross characters to the newer, updated versions that were used in the Macross pachinko games. Most importantly, he is the lead character designer for Macross 30.

Bandai Namco Live Macross 30 special streaming broadcast images

Here are some screencaps from the special 1-hour live streaming broadcast showcasing the much-hyped upcoming PS3 game “Macross 30” by Bandai Namco. The show was mostly jokey talk with Macross reminiscing (“But is Exedore in the game??” etc), with special guests “Basara Sato” from Famitsu and “Chakku” from Bandai-Namco.

New CADs for the Bandai 1/72 VF-1 Transformable Plamodel Kit

Bandai posted the new updated CAD designs for their upcoming 1/72VF-1 Valkykrie PlaModel.

On the article, the developer states how far the design has come since the last reveal and that they are still working on thickening the arms for battroid mode and strengthening the ankles for a more secure stance. Not only are they working on the articulation features, but he is hoping to have a rapid prototype with the transformation gimmick in place for the next media event.

Winter WonderFest 2013 Macross Stage images and summary

As previously announced, two Macross-themed talk/stage shows were streamed live through Nico Nico on Sunday, courtesy of Max Factory and the Good Smile Company to promote the new Macross 30 game, some Nendroid figures and a Sheryl statue, featuring the Macross newcomer, Haruka Chisuga and friends.
